He was also told when he was hired that saying negative things about gays could get him fired.

He actually said, "you're a deviant" not, "that's bad stuff"

you're technically right about his comments not trying to change anything, but you're still missing the point, he was told when he was hired he could be fired for doing something, then he went and did it. He was amply warned beforehand

If you went to HR and said you were offended by people telling you to quit smoking I'm betting you that they would be fired for approaching you. Still you're talking about the same thing when everyone is saying the issue is that he went to her and not to HR.

It's wierd man, I can see your view and agree that people should not be fired for having an opinion. But I agree with HR in this case that I feel the guy handled it improperly and should've been fired. I'll have to make a vid saying I agree with your view but it's not my view that you can't have an opinion simply that if it causes an issue in a workplace then they should be fired. And yes I waste people all the time you should see me on message boards :)
