I thought Sinema was openly bisexual, but in the video she repeatedly calls herself 'gay' and uses 'gay' as a synonym for 'LGBT'. Have we gone back to 'gay' as a synonym for all of us now? Or is this just political expedient talk?

This is directly from Kyrsten when I asked her your questiion:

"Solidarity, Umbrella term, We're all the same. We are all gay together - I'm less about the millions of little subdivisions and more about what we share. I think gay is the best term to describe all of us whether we are g l b or t because it offers a picture of the whole community as one."

In media, no harm in using "gay" but don't worry, we're all about the diversity *within* our community too!
