Of all the band covers Ive played Metallica,Priest,Slayer etc.I can honestly say that Maidens songs were always very hard to cover.2 min 2 mid or Where Eagles Dare.Man is that song hard to play on the drums.Question to any drummers out there I always thought Clive played the hi-hat part in "Wrathchild" with 2 hands. But I think he actually uses 1 hand on the hi -hats.Man he has to be flying to play that with 1 hand.Does anyone understand what im asking??
TOMORROW'S OUTLOOK - 34613 - Digipack CD - Featuring Michael Kiske (EX Helloween/UNISONIC) and Graham Bonnet (Alcatrazz/MSG/Rainbow). Released soon on Battlegod Productions.
ahhh... this was back in the good ol' days when there were only 2 guitarists in Iron Maiden. i don't understand why u would ever need more than 2 guitarists in a band.
In my own humble opinion, Bruce is better singer plus most valuable asset for the band in many ways, however, Di"anno has great talent and they both work for the same cause, so thumbs up for both! P.S. comments welcome.
loved the videos where its just the band playing "live" none of the fluff,,,,,,you can get an idea what they are like live, both singers were great- but pauls voice a little sexier ...
Ok.. If this is offical music video it sucks.. If this is a live video I would have to say that there's something called stage presence.. Paul doesn't have any..
Dude in case you don't know it.. This song was written by Harris.. So Di Anno doesn't "own it" xD.. And Bruce Sings it better.. The high notes in "Cos I'm a.. Yeah I'm a.. Well I'm a..." That's fucking awesome.. I mean Paul was awesome but Dickinson is fucking better..
@MCXCRISSX - It's a figure of speech you fucktard. Oh and for the record, the only songs that Bruce sings better than Paul are Transylvania and Genghis Khan.
@tempofreak69 WHAT?! don't get me wrong, i love paul, killers is one of my favourite maiden albums, but dude, Bruce is one of the best singers in metal history. Obviously dianno is better at his own stuff then bruce is, but paul would never be able to pull of something like fear of the dark, number of the beast or the prisoner.
@tommybaterista you say you dont care of the opinion of other people well guess what nobody cares about your shit opinion. bruce is much better and thats a fact. get over it cunt nugget.
@RsPker141 Oh here comes your typical bruce fanboy, coming on a page thinking hes hot shit, quick everyone! Lets listen to his opinion, I mean we all want to listen to HIS right?
@lolz146 ya well if your replying to my comment then you are listening to me you ignorant fag. so shut the fuck up and admit your mother is a chinchilla.
Lmao ok guys and gals, yes this an epic song from Maiden, but beings that paul Di'anno did 2 fucking albums then left, Dickenson coming in to BE MAIDEN, My Opinion, Fuck Di'anno.
@TheEarnold haha i know what you mean.. but actually a disagree.. I mean Paul rocks on this song .. But it's the same case that Iron Maiden (the song) Bruce change some notes or a little part of the lyrics and it sounds better plus Di'anno didn't have the stage presence and the way that bruce interacts with the crowd.. like when he makes then scream, or sing the song like "Cos I'm a...... " and the crowd yells "Wrathchild" .. Paul didn't have that but anyways he's a great singer....
@xninaxcore it's cool, bottom line is,it's a great song. obviously bruce was a better fit for maiden in the long run. he's got a technically better voice with much more upper register, even if he does tend to overmodulate at times. but there is something magic about those first two albums which was lost after paul left. nothing against bruce, but maiden was fresher and more cutting edge with paul. even if he does occasionally look lost onstage, lol.
Loved Paul for what he did and I still consider him a member of Iron Maiden (unlike Blaze) but he handed the torch to Bruce and Bruce ran with it. They were not going to do another album that sounded like this (as this album was not even new, save two songs, it was written in the mid 70's) the band had progressed past him before Killers was even released. Paul was a time and place and that time had passed. Would you have liked them to stop after two albums? I thought not.
@rufus566 that's an interesting take but i think you're missing the point a bit. maidens most progressive era was their first two albums, which dont sound like like UFO or Rainbow, which would've been the reference points for mid-70s uptempo hard rock in the UK. there's a prog-rock and a punk influence there which is more '78-'79 AFAIK. i wouldnt say number of the beast or piece of mind were evolutionary steps, as both are less raw, more commercial and more generic metal at times.
22 Acacia Avenue; Hallowed be Thy Name; Where Eagles Dare; To Tame a Land - were all "generic metal" to you? I love the sound on the first two records but I am soooooo glad they moved on into bigger and broader territory. Songwriting improved, musical dynamism improved. I have a heart for Wrathchild but The Trooper is why I love Maiden. To me being a young lad Beast and Mind were unlike anything I was hearing out of the scene at the time.
@rufus566 Hallowed Be thy Name is a classic. totally epic. but the arrangements and songwriting overall took a more commercial direction. Run to the Hills, for instance, is far less experimental than Phantom of the Opera. it's interesting to speculate on what Maiden would sound like had Paul stayed on.
@rufus566 why don't you consider Blaze a part of Maiden.. Steve select him above all other metal singers... He's a great singer, he just sing not as high as bruce, but he is a great singer,, same way as Paul, in his own stuff.. Neither Paul nor Blaze would be able to sing Bruce's song.. The only difference is that Paul wasn't able to try, Blaze was, and of course he failed...
Well, Maiden did not include any of the material with Blaze on their best of 1990 to present compilation but the two albums are represented by live versions with Bruce. Blaze was only there because Bruce left and represented a dark period for Maiden when Bruce came back he was gone. Most see him as a guest vocalist rather than a contributive member to the Maiden legacy. Its like Gary Cherone with Van Halen, not on par with Roth and Hagar. Like Sabbath is Ozzy and Dio not Hughes.
Di'Anno had fine hairdo here :D
