  • LOST AND FOUND

  • Is it me or does this song sound like "Waiting" by Green Day?

  • In 1965 she was giving a concert in Montreal at McGill University which was shown live on local television. It was this very show. This was one of her songs. She has many others, all of them terrific. One of the people in Montreal at that very time and watching that show was Ed Sullivans son-in-law who immediately told him to have her on ASAP. Petula Clark was already a star in England. Now she was to become one in North America.

  • Nice song!

Who can hear the sharp tone at the beginning: thumps up.

Probably, I am the youngest person watching this (I'm 17), so I'm the only one who can hear it. D:

This damn tone influences this wonderful music...

    Greetings from Germany

  • JULIET

  • Lady Gaga should do a cover of this :)

  • Fabulous. Well done Petula Clark!

  • Did anyone else notice young Benjamin Linus at 1:31?

  • @Optimalpunch Ahaha, that actually made me laugh. What's with all the Lost references though, wasn't the song only featured once, for 20 seconds?

  • @frznbxy Heh, thanks =), well actually the song recurs quite a lot throughout all seasons of lost. The song shows up in flashbacks every so often, its really hard to hear sometimes. :)

  • @Optimalpunch Not sure I know who you mean-but I do think that I can see Elvis sitting to her front left :)

  • @Optimalpunch yes

    Sharleena: i love this song..:D

  • I'm 13 years old and I love this song.

  • What I like best about this, besides Petula and her amazing song and voice, is that the audience is actually listening and enjoying the song. Nowadays the audience is be filled with arms holding camera's, video-phones, etc, and barely showing their appreciation to the artist. We're more concerned about preserving a pictoral memory, and having evidence to present to our "friends" so as to be seen as "cool" (you know what I mean), versus actually keeping a real/good memory.

  • some of these hair styles lasted right up into the mid seventies around 74 i remember especially the long straight parted style

  • Nothing says 'British Invasion' like this number. It has grandeur, majesty, and a killer hook anyone can sing along with. Doesn't she look awesome?

  • They don't make songs like this anymore. This was far beyond time. Great, just great. Greetings from Brasschaat, Flanders.

  • I really love this song!

    It is so wonderful.

I also like the audience in this video. The boy with the glasses is so cute!

And the two girls sitting to his right side: so sweet! SMILE!!!

    Great video! Thanks a lot.

  • The Epic beginning of the 3rd season of Lost :(

  • chrchrchrchrchrchr "she said downtown"

  • LOST ;(

  • @xerkkkix IKR D,:

  • I WAS BORN IN 1999 ANDI LUV THIS SONG!!!

  • I was born in 1993 but I rlly like this song!

  • Weren't 60's amazing? All those singers from back then could impress a public wearing decent costumes, long skirts are elegant dresses. Not to mention the great voices they had. :) (you should check out Marie Laforet - she's my soul!) Nowadays you can't make a successful career unless you show them some boobs, skin, butts and legs. Voices don't matter anyore. >.> It's sad.

  • LOL i listened to this in music class in 6th grade and now (lol) dis is like my fav song hahahaha and irk?! that guy in the back looks sooooooooo pumped about her lol jk

  • shes a total babe mates

  • one and only :D

  • Good lord. The teenaged audiences have really changed over the past 50 years. Look at all those well-behaved kids in the audience sitting and clapping in unison. Can you picture the fucking teenagers today, yelling, screaming, jumping around, stabbing eachother, pushing and smoking meth? It's really sad.

  • @TheWeddingProducer guess u never heard of elvis!

  • @tommieparch Elvis who?

  • @tommieparch i have jerk off

  • @xDamianx0 i was replyiing to the wedding planner , as she talked about the well behaved kids at the petula clark concert in early60s. and said now a days thatkids are too wild. iwas suggesting to look back 10 years to 1955 when an elvis concert was juat as wild as a now a day. the joke to her was did you forget the 50s! i know everybody knows who elvis was! so use your brain ,idiot!

  • LOST!

  • @MaXe1R jup

  • @MaXe1R i remember it lol

  • Lovely song. Thanks for sharing. ^_^

  • This is music from 1965 not others musics that no have reason and no melody and feeling or the charm of a singer like Petula Clark I am happy

  • The guy at the front holding Petula's hand was the legendary Sky Saxon of The Seeds. He sticks out like a sore thumb among all the other clean cut kids there!

  • A couple of years ago, I heard this song for the first time in a department store on one of the oldie radio stations. When it started, I just stopped what I was doing and had to listen to it. Then, one of the sales clerks made an announcement over the PA system and I kept thinking, "Shut up so I can hear the rest of the song!". I heard most of it and I thought it was the greatest song I had ever heard. And it still is one of the best I've ever heard.

  • Wonderful, just wonderful, brings back some good and bad memories!

  • Great joyous song. Downtown Cairo revolution is happening. How can they loose?

  • Petula had it many singers do not? Pet had the beat listen and watch her she counted her beat and just belted out this song > She was awesome we were amazed Who was this beauty that could sing like non before We were young boys going into puperty and we all fell in love with her and the song!!!

  • es preciosisima !!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT TIMELESS SONG, this is from a time when people had REAL talent, and people wrote great songs, I am 26 years old and I think the 60's was the best time for music, I HATE MY GENERATIONS MUSIC, its boring and doesn't mean anything, one of my other favorite singers is Karen Carpenter, also from the 60's and 70's.

  • @maleficentdiva

  • @DoHunterArea YES EXACTLY!

  • ***Cue crash of Oceanic 815***

  • LOST- AMAZING MEMORIES

  • Petula Clark was the Sixties. Talk about a class act.

  • Over 40 years later, she still sounds exactly the same....

  • Downtown = Moment nach dem der Flash aussetzt!

  • Thats what is the good times. She is a great singer nothing but, class and beauty. Their should have more like Petula makes for a better world.

  • lost lost lost lost lost lost

    lost lost

  • Let go of her hand for gods sake. Is he trying to pull her arm off?

  • Oh, YEAH! Class, indeed. Well, she was a mature woman, even then. Where is this clip from? Live!!! I finally had a chance to see Petula at the Las Vegas Hilton a few weeks back. What a treat.

  • talentless rambling -sort of like the monkees

  • i love it and im not ashamed :D music nowadays sucks (not everything but still)

  • a very wonder video of petula clark that take me back very far back.

  • czasy mojego dzieciństwa!...

uwielbiam ten utwór i tę wersję!

    przeprzepiękny!........

  • The Downloader is at it again & I dislike it...while the cats away the mouse is gonna play, & that he is & he isn't Downtown either. I am & I'm gonna get thru Downtown even if it takes 4x longer going thru all the stops & goes that the downloader allows. Instead I'm going to stall/pause for quite a few minuets and let the red line of traffic get well in advance of me, so I can enjoy the commute thru Downtown all the more. I'm not a downloader, I'm a streamer!!

  • Ooohhh...

So THAT'S what it sounds like when someone actually knows how to sing, instead of relying on Auto Tune.

    Absolutely beautiful voice.

  • Love it :D

  • Beautiful classic! Great post, thank you and to scorp8pus for awesome share!

  • Petula is really getting her groove on in this slower version......

The off beat "yeah" she adds in the second section of the instrumental break is very cool!..... 2:20 - 2:26

Maybe because I am a drummer is why I dig it so much.....

Infinite amount of stars for this one!!!!!!!

  • Awesome share Luv!

    I feel your vibration!! XOXO

  • @scorp8pus

this version is significantly slower than how she usually sing this song.

all 3 verses usually falls within 3 minutes

  • @simhopp Yes, I know sweetie.... I have this on 45 from back in the day.

    Thanks!

  • This slower version is great, love it.
