  • This is one of the few instances where I feel watching a movie and reading the book will render a very similar impact on the reader. This is actually probably one of the best book adaptations I have ever seen. Jhumpa Lahiri wrote a great novel, and Mira Nair directed a great movie.

  • AWESOME MOVIE WITH BEAUTIFUL SOUNDTRACKS

  • magnificent

  • "Remember it always, remember that you and I made this journey and went together to a place where there was nowhere left to go."

  • The music, the cinematography, the movie was great and I loved it. So very beautiful

  • The music is intensely beautiful. I am going to see the film

  • hands down one of the best movies ever adapted from a novel, Jhumpa Lahiri is a genius as is Mira Nair, combined with Tabu, Irfan khan and Kall Penn, there is absolutely no room for failure especially with the aid of Nitin Sawnhey. more movies should be made like this.

  • @munaa93 Kal*

  • "How many rules have I broken none and each my own". I don't know the nameof the song but those were some of the lyrics and It is one of the most beautiful songs that I have heard it make me cry and when ever I want to comfort myself I sing this song I love it.

  • @sekhmetkara It's called "Same Song" by susheela raman :)

  • How many rules have I broken none and each my own. It is one of the most beautiful songs that I have heard it make me cry and when ever I want to comfort myself I sing this song I love it.

  • @wizitch123 go explore the world

  • Can I ask though;

    SPOILERS

when the moms went back to India, wouldn't she be a widow, and isn't that bad in India?

  • Why it should be bad? what do u mean? It's not something that u can choose to be or not!

  • why would it be "bad"? In what sense?

  • Mate, Indian society has improved a lot since what has been depicted in the western media. Its just a fact of life. To answer you, NO. Cheers.

The days of frowning upon widows is gone. And thats sensible. Cheers

  • This is definitely one of the best films I've ever watched, the acting was incredible, especially Kal Penn, I had no idea he could pull of such a role. He played Gogol perfectly. I'm Indian, and I think I have a ridiculous name, I related to this film deeply. The soundtrack is simply spellbinding. Especially at the opening of the film when Gogol's mom and dad first met. I think no matter what race you are you will be deeply moved by this film.

  • watched tonight during an uni lecture. So moving and beautiful film.

  • thanx 4 uploading this.....

  • Great movie and soundtrack

It gives great value to our heritage and family.

  • This is one of the most moving and capturing cinematic experiences I have ever fallen into. Watch the movie, if you are black, white, yellow, brown, mixed, born here, born there, born period, it has something for you, be patient throughout, take it in, you will find you are all the wiser for having seen this movie. I only ask that you begin with an open mind thank you
