  • good school project, but in the real world fucken dumb

  • Bluetooth mouse?

  • Your vid is popular on Seoul

  • it's like kinect . you are the future of microsoft !

  • But will it blend??

  • Ending is cool. But that mouse is total shit for gamer. Kind o laggy

  • pure lag.

  • That is the m0st br1ll1@nt m0use 3v3r MADE!!!!

  • I remember that episode of tom and jerry

  • he is kind of slow o.O

  • Where can I buy it ? I want it.

  • YEAHHH THIS I LIKE

  • You are making India Proud.. Plz contribute to India as well.. Thanks.

  • it is real, i swear.. i have it too.. but i lost it ..

  • For what the hand should move? One of finger motion is not enough? =)

  • it wouldn't work if you're using cad programs. and what about with sweating palms, for me it wouldn't be comfortable.

  • what about making your computer into a tablet pc?

  • what about drag and drop?

  • This guy is Pranav Mistry from INDIA......(u can see at 2.13).. so its 100% sure will get this in our actual life in near future.......

  • This guy is Pranav Mistry from INDIA......(u can see at 2.13).. so its 100% sure will get this in our actual life in near future.......

  • that cool though, i will take it to impress my friends, but i WILL NOT trace it for my mouse, unless they have whole body movement that i can see move, and feel with my entire body in battlefield 3.

  • Another great idea from Pranav Mistry

  • I'm afraid those laser might be dangerous. What if you take something out of a drawer and accidently look into the laser??

  • Kinect can do this thing

  • OpenCV ?

  • dam i lost my mouse!

  • I prefer a mouse...

  • one of the smartest people in earth

  • dang you must have had fun doing this video xD

  • I don't use it for call of duty because of the "speed"

  • I don't want it!Why?I will lose it on the 1st day

  • Are you the guy that made the multitouch table on greener business show?

  • Genius

  • or just buy a fucking normal mouse :D

  • a lot of plastic less great

  • I just thought of this last night. My design doesn't involve a camera, but now I'm pissed... more like disappointed, but whatever.

  • imagine working at the office with this, the boss would be like... WTF?

  • @ChaosPunksXe tht wont be impossible :D

  • reminds me of just a touch pad

you even have to double tap to single click

  • Cats are more intellgent than mouses. The proof: they already invented a invisible sandwish. (I know, some of you won't get the joke).

  • @ChaosPunksXe Ya, I think that's true.

  • I wonder if it's good for PC gaming...

  • @ChaosPunksXe you shouldn't start predicting things, you never know who's reading these comments. Someone might ACTUALLY make an invisible steering wheel now.

  • I don't think it's real. What's next? an invisible keyboard?

  • it would be awesome to have an invisible notebook.. i got one :) its just right here.. can you see it??.. blind

  • it would be cool to have a mac mini with a virtual laser keyboard, virtual mouse, and a projected screen. :D having almost nothing on your desk.

  • it seems like this would cause a lot of strain on your hand...

  • huge delay but nice

  • lag

  • but, will it blend?

  • @RazorIndie you CAN TRY AND BLEND YOUR HAND....

  • this is big fail the camera should cover 360 degree angel and there is no wheel yet and beside why buy a camera when u can buy a mouse. the camera should be built in not lying on the back of the screen for some ignorant people it is cool and awesome but it is not practical yet but it will be after 10 years so dont bother telling ur friends

  • I see so many retards posting to this video. This is a great innovation. There are so many things in the market which are not useful in day today life. But those innovations will pave way for newer ones. Hez a genius from MIT, not a highschool dropout. This guy got brains.

  • Cool. Now polish it! It looks a little rough. The mouse movement looks a little sluggish/rigid. Anyway looks like a viable way to get stuff done if you don't have a mouse.

  • genious!

  • can you please give the link to download this?

    thanks.

  • Lol on hees laptop it says Im a pc and he has windows 7, he must've played the commercial

  • COOOOLLLL

  • It doesn't have a scroll wheel, or something like that ... so ... for me is a big fail. But the idea is very good.

  • what is the best mW for the ir laser?

is a 1mW 780nm ir laser enough because i think the more mW the more dangerous and the higher ability to burn it has.

  • he is a genius

  • I like the idea but they should also add a special mouse-hand-pad. Think about the physics. We put our hand on the mouse and move it. The mouse rubs the surface of the desk. If there is no mouse, the hand will be the one to rub the desk. This will most certainly f*ck your hand's skin up because of all the rubbing.

  • LOLz......I toooooooooooooo want to be in invisible mode and do lotsssssssssssssss of naughty things.............hehehehe.........;)

  • .?..?...

  • Where is the scroll wheel?

  • @toncarmelo That should be implemented by rubbing the tip of the index finger against the desk surface while not moving any other part of the hand.

  • @toncarmelo Scrolling isn't hard to implement. With the source code, I could do it easily.

  • FAKE

  • silly..

  • a computerless computer lol, and dgoeck you're an idiot

  • hahhaha, qué bieen! Dios nos libre :O haha

  • eliminas el mouse pero tenes el cablerio de la web cam atras jaja

  • @dgoeck You realize how retarded your observation sounds? If there was no innovation that made solutions like these feasible, there would be no innovation at all. And, for what it's worth, the computer mouse when introduced in 1968 seemed just as feeble und unwieldy, if not even more - see, it took the normal mouse 16 years to catch on :)

Personally, I think he's got a very clever tracking device going. As a fellow CS, I think he has a lot of potential.

  • Looks laggy, lol....

  • I have tried something like that using the same software i think you're using; Touchlib, amirite? If so, how did you calibrate this when the camera detects multiple blobs?

  • Awesome but useless

  • This is just........stupid.....

    A. You will always need to accommodate for the perfect camera angle...

    B. the mouse courser lags horrendously..

    C. There is no way this is precise enough for anything but simple internet browsing. (No 3d, animator, designer will ever use this; no precise input)

    D. Looks extremely expensive; i would much rather buy a decent mouse for 20-50 bucks.....

    E. Did i mention this is retarded?

    Come on......seriously?

  • @dgoeck Come on... it obviously needs more developement, but the idea isn't that bad.

  • @dgoeck: The first car drove terribly, was extremely expensive and looked pretty retarded without the horse in front of it.

I see a really big future for this technology if some company picks it up, makes it more accurate, makes it work without userspace software and builds it in laptops.

  • @davidfromnl This will be a product for the casual internet browing / email homeowners but even then i doubt they will use this because everyone uses there laptops while sitting on the couch; laying in bed and many other non-flat surfaces areas...rendering this thing useless....

Also having your hand in that position will definitely give you hand / wrist cramps because you have nothing supporting the arch of your hand like a normal mouse will....

Again this thing is useless and a waste.....

  • @dgoeck if we would listen idiots like you, we would still on stone age. It's called PROGRESS U DUMB ASS!

  • @dgoeck Its a prototype, dude.

  • @dgoeck u got to be open to new ideas..thts how someone came up with computers

  • @dgoeck its just an POC man.. don't react too much..

  • @dgoeck

As somebody already mentioned this is Proof Of Concept. and kind of version 0.001 . Technology always improves.

  • @dgoeck

from the project page: "We implemented a fully functional working prototype system of 'Mouseless' that costs approximate $20 to build. "

  • well this is stupid, there`s nothing to support the hand pf

  • Guys, This is just the start! Next thing will be a keyboardless keyboard!

  • @muroogle yeah and then a computerless computer! lol

  • This guy's from india, ain't he? 'cause I remember he had a project about using your hand to take pictures, use it as a mouse and stuff like that...

  • :O your face, when your skin on your hand is gone!

  • Mouseless : Günün birinde bu mouse'ların çöpe gideceğini biliyordum :)))

  • does your hand need a driver ?

  • this will make u look retarded in public

  • Amazing...

  • Теперь вместо мышки таскать камеру?

    Как страницы прокручивать?

Я верю они что нибудь придумают! Это только начало!

  • hand cramp and I can't see myself playing any FPS on this

  • its not fake, however... useless.. since the movement is limited for the camera speed wich is slower then a actual real mouse, its not gonna be that smooth for fast movements. maybe, if it gets really smooth it could be used to use it as a tablet to make drawings go easyer without a fisical tablet. i dont beleave that this one is going to be really great as a mouse. theres no point! and a mouse can have much more features since a mouse can handle lots of buttons and a scroll.

  • @Houstof sure but an awesome invention:)

  • Great! Now wwe'll all look like a bunch of morons draging our hands on the table like tat…

  • Mal feito

  • does this need special software to use? where can i find it if it does?

  • @pyroasta I think you can find it IN THE VIDEO YOU JUST WATCHED.

  • @DustinEwan

I don't see a DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE HERE button on the link, do you?

  • @pyroasta negative, but watch and you will see the software that he wrote to interpret the interference map from the laser. the software translates it into mouse input.

are you asking if there will be extra software required to make x program work beyond the basic drivers? (which are software..)

  • can it work with my foot?

  • what about scrolling? O:

  • @celenysaurusrex A stupid question? May be...

  • Very inaccurate movements.

  • @EnriqueIglesiasBG its still a developing technology

  • @EnriqueIglesiasBG I dont believe I see these kind of comments on a vid like this. I suppose that having the ease to comment like that comes from the fact that you as well study (or teach) in the MIT, right? Go tell your "inaccurate" crap to them face to face then, cos they're as smart as you'll never be my friend.

  • what if you are left handed?

  • @joyx81 Fake??????????seriously? do you even know who pranav mistry is?

  • I would never use this... First it's totally useless and how annoying is it to adapt yourself to a new mouse.. Now I'll have to adapt myself to an invisible mouse? No thanks.. Even touchscreen is better..

  • really cool !!

  • i think that the mouse is confortable for your hand, with the "mouseless" you will not feel very confortable and you will doing the EXACTLY MOVEMENTS. I wish that soon invent another type of cursor, maybe only with voice . However, its a nice progress in technology.

  • Comment removed

  • h4x0r :D

  • But can I score invisible headshots with it?

  • What about click and hold?...

  • who needs an invisible pc mouse, i want to control everything with my brain!

  • @JohnnylFreak

You are right, me too dont need that.

  • YESS!!!! i can now throw my mouse across the room when im RAGED without being worried about expenses!!!! FREEDOM!!!

  • The future of the computer mouse should resemble the Atari 2600 joystick. All in favor, thumb this up.

  • Problem is I don't make such exaggerated movements with my hand when I control my house. The guy in video is moving entire arm to move mouse. This technology needs to be more fine tuned before it's any good. They would be better off translating eye movement into cursor movement.

  • I love, love, love the idea, but couldn't stand the way they've presented it.

  • great, they just need to shorten the huge delay

  • indian shit, its useless, it works not good, responsing time is shit. just buy an 5 euro mouse and you are fine. annoying vid.

  • @MrDancer123 What does the guy being Indian have to do with the product? and who the hell are you to be making such a judgement? If you think you can do better, why are you making an pointless comment online? Go ahead and prove us wrong, douchebag!

  • Un Mouse invisible, y mas encima muy barato!

  • I have the same notebook, is so cool!

  • hahaha is a good idea but, all things (camera, laser), connected to the laptop and did you see all those cables? ..

  • @michelleemnz that's a prototype... in the future the cables could disappeare. for example it could be replaced by the bluetooth.

  • so now this isnt a mouse anymore...

  • WOW.

  • A mouse without a mouse - AMAZING !

  • I watched this video and am currently writing this message by doing finger gestures like in the video, but on my iPad screen. Looks like this stuff can be done easier by going directly to tactile screens.

  • how can i beggine using this tehnology ware do i gett the program?

  • If this thing can be modified for smartphones, this might become next best thing after invention of toilet paper!!

  • Wtf are some of you people talking about? This thing is great. And yes it is probably not meant for gaming, but computers are not used for games and Facebook only.

  • Great idea, most laptop trackpads are unusable anyway, so this would be awesome! The only thing is that it needs to get way more accurate and it has to work flawlessly. A tap should be recorded when you tap the table's surface, not just when you put your finger back down gently, etc... But I'm sure there are easy ways to overcome that if this goes into mass production.

  • wow, this sucks balls, would suck cock to play games with this

this shit is for apple ipad iphone hipsters who eat sushi and drink wine on a cheese taste party

  • this is gonna be a rich dude, hes a fucking genius.

  • @excabilus He is isnt he

  • So this could also provide multitouch gestures, since it recognizes your fingertips? It's awesome :D

  • THIS SUX

  • I have been waiting for this to come along. After getting rsi from the original mouse i am now using my off hand and a track ball. My guess is having no mouse will reduce fatigue and the left right clicks can be customizableto other fingers which is not possible with a physical mouse.

  • Cool, But i think you need the hand model from Seinfeld to do the videos. :P

  • Windows Seven *-*

  • good project but i think your hand could get tired of bend your fingers upon the air, i think use it for long time could be exhausting

  • kinda laggy but that can be improved. briliant ideea :]

  • genius

  • wayy anasını...

  • Man,this video is slow...

  • So in the end the mouse still makes a comeback

  • cool mouse.... O.O

  • how about drag&drop?

  • now it is laggy but i think it's just beta. but how can i roll the page?:)

  • does anyone else notice that this guy is double clicking EVERYTHING

  • Mouses suck... why waste energy trying to improve something that's fundamentally broken...

  • @abruptjunction For starters, they're not fundamentally broken. Single point interaction is sufficient for most of the things we do on computers, even when multi touch input is available.

  • meh just one of those just-for-fun things

    useless in real life

    due to ex obvious limitation:

    -high response latency, (lag)

    -the software is cpu hungry

-cant click like a normal mouse, you must lift your finger, that gets annoying really fast

    and so on

fun fact: touch displays suffer from most of these kinds of problems too

  • I'd rather be touching something solid. Shits gay man.

  • Did anyone else find the Tom & Jerry cartoon more interesting than the technology being presented?

  • M.I.T. used to be great lulz

  • awesome for playing games @ night :D

  • Who is Scroll ?

  • Mouse is mouse

  • this is pretty cool i dont know why u dont like it..i would bought it if it i could..its a pretty cool new thing..ohh and also i think that it would be better if it had a mouse wheel feature or something even better ..

  • i think mouse is cheaper than camera

  • where is the inviable tabled version ?

  • VERY NICE!

  • LOL, why don't you show the serial cable of the ancient mouse?

  • 1:58 Love the sticker: I'M A PC!

  • epic laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag

  • The invisible ink dripped onto the table and it had no effect? WTF

  • Look at that lag!

  • Something like this could be fantastic for gaming, provided it has a good refresh rate and resolution (This won't but it's not even a prototype, just a proof of concept).

your hand moves much quicker across the desk without having a heavy mouse and because there is no mass you can stop instantly. You could also make much finer movements.

If we can get something that tracks your hand at high res/rate in 3D, add LCD glasses, we can ditch physical computers. Spatial computing!

  • Now try using that to play a game for a few hours on a hot summer day.Your hand is sweaty, sticky and keeps on sticking to the table surface (humans don't sweat teflon btw. !).Or what happens if sunlight shines on exactly that spot in your office room (infrared light, not sure how much, just puttin the question up.),would it still work properly? :P And why-o-why would I actually use this method over a touchpad on the notebook? It's a decent feature and fail safer than this (I imagine).

  • @Assasinchen2006

dude now think 5 years later when this technology is fully developed!

i would totally use that... and of course its not made for computer gaming... why is everybody talking about gaming -.-
