This is impressive stuff. I am intrigued by the Eau Rouge technique - lots of corner speed and only opening the throttle up the hill. Must be a great circuit to ride.
I think you are just a wind up merchant. There is no way that a 1000cc bike can get through there on full throttle at full racing speed. Perhaps on a good day you could get through on full throttle with the 70cc toys you ride.
Very impressed. I did not realize you could sustain such lean angles on a stock R1 (or any stock bike) while going 200km/h +. Are you riding on standard tires or slicks or something?
Whoops, noticed you already wrote you where using Pirelli Supercorsa Pro. So how much does that differ from a very good road (not race) tire like the BT016?
A second a lap maximum on a 2.5 mile cricuit to someone who can find it. A race tyre will last better on the track as well - at least in terms of grip if not tread wear.
Als ik naar dat filmpje kijk zie ik pas hoeveel vermogen ik mis met mijn ZX9 van 98' manman... Super gereden ook, R1 rules, benieuwd naar de big-bang!
VERY impressive riding, very smooth line. Is the bike stock or modified? How many laps in Spa did you do before this vid was taken? Greetings from germany, Jens
nice rideing mate i miss me bikes when i whatch stuff like this, yamaha all the way top bikes keep it up n good luck hold on tight fast rides only!! craze col
On this trackday the bike was still completly stock except front sprocket -1, prepped shock front + rear, supercorsa pro tyres (i used to wear down my own race tyres on the street, nowadays i hardly ride the street anymore)
going front sprocket -1 will give you more top end right? haven't heard anyone going down only with only the front sprockets alone. and how much is the speedo affected???
also, vortex has this package 520 conversion sprockets/chain deal 16 front and 47 rear. that take away about 10% top end but alot more acceleration. this combo isn't good for the tracks?
-1 is 16 front :) So it's little more acceleration and less top end.
16front - 47 rear is perfect for the track as the 1st gear of the R1 is way too long and you'll never use 6th gear that way. With -1 on the front i hardly get to use 5th gear even.
Great close course, where is it? I have one R1 04 with too many extras, i love that bike. I live in Brazil, and aways ride on interlagos and jacarepagua (where the motogp was)... How much do you pay for a track day? I use on my bike michellin pilot power 2 ct, have you tried it?
Pffff... Jawatte!! Respect!! I was there on my gsxr1000 but I was not that fast.. One of the most crazy traks in the world!
You're very good, although the other bikes seems to be a little bit slower. If you are new in the track, congratulations, you're running pretty good. Need to improve smoothness and line in some cornes, but I'm no bike rider, so you could be right. Thanks for posting.
Vulnerability on the street is 10 times as much as on the track. At least you don't have upcoming traffic or objects (trees, dangerous guardrails etc) in your way on the track.
But you're right, it takes a good guardian angel to keep safe :-)
No harm :-) Always up for some pointers. The first lap i overshot the entrance indeed, it's better the 2nd lap around. Still getting familiar with the track, hard to judge your entrance speed there as it goes uphill, you need to go a bit faster then normal, but i overdid it a bit there.
I'll be there again in august, new footage coming up :-)
im there in september to watch the f1 which should be pretty awesome ill probably just end up sitting at blanchimont for the whole time its sooo dam fast
pt2 .......brake a bit earlier to get a tighter line for the right hand turn so you can keep it tight and get the power on earlier through the left you seemed to go in quite deep which might have affected your exit anyway don't take this as an insult just as some feedback to try and improve your laptime just something that might be worth trying but anyway good ride takes some balls to ride spa like that sorry youtube only allows 500 character
pt1.you got some talent there nice riding certainly not afraid of a little movement under braking which is nice to see the only thing i would criticise is your line through eau rouge (if thats not the line you always take and was a mistake then ignore me) becuase the kemmel straights so long it might be a better idea to..........cont pt2
Incredible Driving Skills Man! You passing the newbies like their on training wheels, LOL! Superb dude, every ounce of performance extracted & pushed to the limit. I must say you also know your racing lines very well.

Nearly stock, -1 on the front. Was my 2nd day on this track. Had a lot of trackday prior though.
4 trackdays later on this circuit later (last summer) i did a 2.33. This vid is 2.42.

This was my 2nd day at this track. Done +100 trackdays before. There are quite some bad lines in the vid.
In the meanwhile, after another 3 trackdays there, i'm 4 seconds faster :)

Yea, free driving, i rather do those. That way i can have a bit more fun sliding instead of going smooth-fast all the time :)
Shifting with open throttle as you can hear i slightly pull the clutch while shifting.
Using Pirelli Supercorsa Pro
