  • I never like Hollandaise sauce personally. I find it too oily and too heavy, so I really enjoyed this recipe. My one change was I did use a whole grain English muffin because anything with white bread is way to airy and not at all satisfying, to me at least.

  • @asianmalaysian A hollandaise is not unhealthy, as long as you don't put it on everything you eat.

  • @leungchaan No arguments there. Just wondering if there was a middle ground between using the full blown version of the sauce and Chef John's solution of skipping the sauce altogether.

  • @asianmalaysian Probably not. Most vegan recipes for hollandaise I found googlewise also contain fat (margarine or vegetable oil) and proteins (soy milk, tofu, soy yoghurt), just like the original recipe. Some of them additionally contain carbs (flour or starch), which makes it even more "nutritious"... and I bet they don't taste as good as a freshly homemade hollandaise... :-D But then again, I'm a purist! So don't listen to me... ;-)
