When theresa fell Ethan had his ear to her as if he was listening for something, if he was trying to listen to see if she was breathing or a heartbeat Ethan she's alive she's moving and screaming so not only she's alive she's conscious as well. He must just like the way she smells, or whispering in her ear (which I doubt) telling her it'll be ok.
