I think his best performance has to be either Say Hello 2 Heaven or Beyond the Wheel. Check out Beyond the Wheel (Live in Sturgis 1993) and even his Nude Dragons performance. He hits it perfectly live.
@KurtinChains: how about Follow My Way from Euphoria Morning? It doesn't have anything super high, but it's insanely powerful nonetheless when he goes full throat in that one. Good job with the series so far, btw.
Wow, I love and totally agree with your comment about Follow my way... The Mission screams aren't that bad, either!
And on his latest tour I spent about $250 on concert tickets. It was about all the money I had. Best money I've ever spent, I must say. I'll definitely be doing the same when he comes back around!
For the people who think Cornell doesn't "have it" anymore:
I saw him in April on his Scream tour. He did the 'Let me drown' scream, exact, expect longer. It was five feet in front of me. A light was shining on him and I saw his tongue and throat reverberating from the scream. Seriously the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my entire life. I froze when he did it and my hands were too shaky that I couldn't even aim my camera. Simply amazing.
Bro, you can't expect a 45 year old man who has gone through as much stuff as he has with his vocal chords to go out on stage and sing 'New Damage' the exact way he did in 1992. The fact that he can still do 'Let me Drown' is damn amazing, which was the point of my post.
And the scream in 'Let me Drown' isn't a "monster scream"? Heh, record yourself doing it.
@BirdRATM: I didn't see him this year, but I did catch his 2007 tour's Detroit stop. I saw Soundgarden 5 times between '89 and '96, and I can honestly say 2007 was the best I ever heard him sing.
I love New Damage, but I think the screams at the end should get recognition too, cause those are some of the best screams he has ever done. Great list here, and i like the Let Me Drown is here cause that one really came out of left field at me when i first heard it. The song sounded kind of standard hard rock song, and i was expecting a scream, but when it came up it just sounded so incredibly awesome i had to play it again. Once again great list.
Great series of vids. 4th of July also has some moments you could use for another vid. And Incessant Mace has an epic scream near the end of the song. Big Dumb Sex is great too.
I'm not sure if it would fit in with this series of vids because these seem to be focused on early Cornell, but on the solo Cornell song "No Such Thing", from the Carry On album, he has an awesome scream at "...how you fill the HOOOLE!!!".
wow lol, that 2:31 pic looked gay as hell

Cool compilation! But why did only include the intro to new damage while the final verse/outro is IMO his sickest vocal performance ever
Ikheetchris1 1 year ago
Have you ever seen him perform smoke stack lightning in '88? That is one of his best live performances. He hits everything perfectly.

Except, not expect. My bad. Haha.

oh so then i would like to see him do the screams he did on new damage in 92. They were even higher than the ones on the album.
He's still one of the best singer out there, but he simply can't pull off those monster screams anymore.
The reason why he could pull off the Let Me Drown scream is obvious. It isn't as hard to do than some others.

Wow, that's some statement... Thanks for sharing that!
I'm sadly too young to be able to say something like that, and I'm not sure Youtube videos give anything justice.
