I remember being at newark exactly a month before 9/11. my fam and i were goin to Florida on vaaction and we watched the sunrise behind the towers. I didn't realize that would be one of the last times i would ever see that.

like no, I got to the airport gate after the 2nd plane crashed.  There was no realization in the terminal of the chaos in NY; it was quiet with all the normal noises of loading up planes. Very strange in retrospect.

When I was a pilot for continental(in 2001), I had a flight to Orlando. They had grounded us while we got onboard the plane. we had stayed inside the plane for 20-45 mins. Then the FAA notified me to cancel the flight because any airline could have been hijacked. I will never forget that day. I won't forget it because my cousin died in that building from the crash.

Thank you for your comment. For me there is still a residue of unreality in all this. But as we know many people learned how to behave at their very best. My condolences for the death of your cousin who likely found in his/her last moments the courage of true acceptance.

Please keep this footage in a safe place, it's very rare angle and even though the res is low, it's still very fascinating. I was in paris working for continental that day, i had to help the operations team re-route all of our us bound flights, 3 day visit to see friends extended into 3 weeks of stress and emotional turmoil.

R.I.P. flight 93 flight crew, best of friends, will never forget you.

R.I.P. all those who passed away because of those tragic events.

No, didn't know planes had hit. Eerie and quiet in the terminal. Finally my wife called me from GA and told me planes had hit. When Tower 2 fell I could only think it was nuclear. Exit from the airport was orderly and businessloike but there were a lot of cops with automatic weapons around. Thanks for asking. MH  -

Wow. at the time, did you know it was a plane that hit the buildings? or did you just think they were burning down? And what was it like..??? must have been crazy-scary seeing all that and being chased out of the airport!
