  • with a masters, if you go to medical school, you can make entry of 80k-100k salary.

  • @barcow

but my 'passion and interest' is not aimed towards the 'medical field'...

  • Very interesting video! Thaks for posting!

  • Dang. If an Asian is so skeptical of college education then things must be screwed up in America....lol.

  • Doing math off the top of your head from numbers approximated off the top out of your head.

Most practical degrees you make more then $40k.

  • @movcrit

where have you been hiding the past few years...even practical degrees out of college...if you can even find openings in addition to the lack of experience 'desired' for positions and competition with seasoned professions trying to recover from the economy... you may be right that most practical degrees you can make more than 40k, if you can even get the job or any job, rising number of people with practical degrees doing jobs not in their field of study

  • @phoenixmythics But then its no longer an argument against college degrees but merely a complaint about a struggling economy.

  • @phoenixmythics What other options do you have?

    1. Hope to get a $10 hour job? As a high school graduate with little to no experience you'll be hard pressed to be able to find a job when you compete with college graduates.

    2. Go to trade school, get out and be faced with the same prospects of no jobs? Then go back to option1.

    3. Go to college, get out and be faced with the same prospects of no jobs? Then go back to option 1.

  • One thing a job-seeker must learn is that an education isn't everything obviously, but there are things which an education process can help you with: such as networking, experience, and security clearance.

  • The fact that you mention the "past few years" is a tell that your arguments and opinion are reflective of the recent (since 2008) economic turmoil and not the college education. A college education is never a guarantee of a job, but neither is a high school diploma or a trade school cert. Furthermore, the longer you wait before doing an education after high school, the less chances you'll ever go back to school and make it.

  • You could not you know, overspend on credit cards. Thats not the college's fault.

  • @Iamaninjamaster you know nothing about college. such a useless comment.

  • that whole college debt structure is shit.you dont have it in uk

  • @HardCoreProgrammer1

    programming require no education/degree..only experience...

  • a job and world is nothing but poilitics learn the game then you'll make it, once you get a job that is.

  • @phoenixmythics

I think you are hot guy.

Where do you live in the USA?

    Do you have a boyfriend?

  • @MrJackassjerry

nope, sorry, only interested in girls :)

  • @phoenixmythics hahahahahaha. how about that? some sodomite trying to have sex with a "normal" male. I find it sad that Mr. Jackson Jerry could be so bold as to throw him self to another man. repent of your evil ways...

  • Your eyes look sexy. You are one Asian Tom Cruise.

  • this country graduates million of people every year.it doesn't create millions of jobs every year though.people that have jobs can't retire because that requires alot of money so they work till they die.america the great has begun its spiral to third world misery.

  • what did you do your degree in?

  • I went to school to learn. I wasn't deluded enough to actually believe I would be making 40k a year. I went to a community college while I worked full time, so I have close to 25k saved. I do not plan on going to a 4 year school, because it is a money pit and a sham.

  • I really Respect the honesty of this vid.

  • Informative video, thank you.

  • Student loans are also non-dischargeable through bankruptcy. They follow you until you die!!!!

Most college students don't understand basic personal finance.

  • How about just buying textbooks on economics, finance, business, real estate, etc and just learn without the bureaucracy. You can probably get the second oldest edition of the book for $20 because of textbook inflation. Then you put that 60k into YOURSELF and start a successful business. The college system is broke. The idea is good but it has become corrupted. Its all about the money and that money is YOUR money. The banks are getting rich on your interest while the govt gets kickbacks.

  • I hate to sound like a skipped CD but the fault with student debt lies with persistent increases in tuition and fees at colleges.

You also have to look at the job market which puts a premium on getting a BA/BS as a prequisite to getting a job.

For once, I agree with DGTC. This video is informative because it deals with costs, debt , living expensives, salaries and various other expenses.

I still say the blame in terms of jobs lies with employers.

  • sadly, with this -shades of grey- system, with so many factors adding to the joblessness, debt/income ratio, economy/market...

tis hard to place the blame on any 'one'...

  • If you are talking about unemployment overall, you are probably right.

However, when it comes to college student debt, you have to lay the blame at colleges and universities who consistently raise tuition and fees in an effort to help feather their nest.

If colleges didn't hike their costs so much, students and grads might have a chance to find a job and not deal with crushing debt and other economic problems.

  • I won't argue with you there, I know when I was in college..2k a semester...then after 2nd year..up to 4k a semester and they jacked up tuition every semester by $600 for the last few years...took all I had to graduate, plus a 10k bank loan to finish that 'last year' and that 10k loan...is now a 12k with interest :'(

  • You're lucky. If you just owe $12,000, that will be much easier to pay compared to student horror stories of $20,000, $25,000and $30,000.

I was fortunate. I left school with $ 0 debt but most kids owe thousands of dollars plus these schools will refuse to send your transcripts for transfer and even sue your ass if you still have outstanding debt.

You could be flat asssed broke and living in a cardboard box and they still want that money.

    These schools can be cruel.

  • i did not say i just owed...12,000, that was just a 'bank loan' not my 'official' student loans included.... I say i'm in the 20-30k for 'education' loans, not including many other 10k's for credit card....aye...

  • That's why I said "if you owed $12,000" because I wasn't sure of the total amount.

Its tough. I'm glad I never had student debt. It can stiffle hundreds if not thousands of grads' career choices.

I certain hope you win the lottery or something that allow you to pay off that debt.

  • @phoenixmythics Bullshit useless impractical bullshit classes ..they dont prepare for the working world..it is a crock of shit!!!..and theres no jobs anyway..u learn nothing like high school..its a fuckin money makin lie..and they fail u over bullshit..meticulous critical teachers that are assholes. your gunna need a PhD to work in burger king soon!. its called corporate communism!. and they jobs you get are BULLSHIT!!. the richest people in the world DID NOT GO TO BRAINWASHING COLLEGE!!

  • Interesting video - well thought out and informative. 5 stars.

  • Ya i am a political science major and i am having 2nd thoughts

  • i feel you phoenixmythics. I just graduated from college in december and im at a low paying job and it seems like no one wants to hire me with the degree i got due to lack of experience relating to my major.

  • @msraymond

I was always told you'll always get a good job if you go to college!

The college system left me disenfranchised too.

All the best of luck to you!

  • It sounds scary:(

  • GET YOUR DEGREE, or you will be jobless...!

:-D ...or stuck in low pay land for LONG TIME...
