I think Enya is wonderful in the studio and on the stage. Her music so complex that its hard to replicate it on stage without almost having a full orchestra. She is without a doubt no "weak" live performer. Every music artists' way of creating and putting together music is different. Her style makes it a bit more complicated to piece together on stage. Go Enya.
You also need a voice synthesizer to replicate the multi-layered voice effect that she uses in her albums. For me, that is the big reason that why enya usually does not perform live.
True. My favotite example of that is "Anywhere Is". You can hear the different layers of voices in each verse. She does fine and continues to do great in her live perfomances.

Also in certain performances there is a marked difference in the outcome of the tune such as timing vocals and the choir feel. See bro you cant expect Enya to perform live regularly like other artists do. Her music has many levels composed of layers and effects all in the interest of good clean music. Cheers
During one of her televised 'Christmas' time contributions, she performed some numbers in a different tune, with a single vocal. Two of them were in gaelic, and one in English, the instruments had a minimal effect. Agreed it didn't sound as good as the studio version, but still pretty good.
Also, we should imagine, if she could indeed manouver the keyboard like that, she's very very talented indeed. Let's keep enjoying her music. It is second to none. Godbless.
