Birima is the title of a song by Youssou N’Dour, a track on his album Joko: From Village to Town, but above all it is the name of a 19th-century Senegalese king who was very reserved (he spoke to his people once a year) and placed great importance on keeping one's word.

I do not understand what he says, but the scene leads me to some of our traditional scenes here in Cameroon, at our village levels: we did not learn these things from the whites.
