My first ever car was a Pale Blue Viva HB "F" reg with red plastic trim everywhere, covered in sheepskin seat covers. I'd bought it from my old foreman in 1978 for £40. It was constantly breaking down, leaked oil and let the rain in, but I loved it. I was 17 and had the world at my feet or so I thought... :-))
Mate bottled the classic car thing and sold it for the £70 he bought it for. On hindsight I regret allowing him to sell it! But back then any welding was scary! Two guys from Oxford came down to buy it. Appeared to be proper enthusiasts
Been trying to talk him in to buying another but he's a lost cause! I had a Dolly 1300 at the same time, 3 or more years on I've had 4 of the things! Mate drives round an 04 plate Fiesta...
yes you are right , i saw one being raced at standlake oxfordshire , at the pre1976 banger meet . along with a 1954 bubble cambridge , a 1958 morris oxford traveller , coke bottle cortinas , trummy dolomites, hillman avenger estate car . yes all very sad to see. i used to do banger racing years ago , when there was an abundance of these sorts of cars , and we did'nt really think about their true value in those times. plus you could pick a car up from a scrapyard for a few £££'s .
Any idea the insurance an 18 year old would pay on one of these mate?

Is this old footage taken years ago?
Still a beautiful car, though. :)

Oh right, You`ll continue to regret it too, I know I miss my 2 old HB`s & now they are so rare its unlikely I`ll get another!
I got my 1st one when I was 16 & it was pinewood green too!
I hope they were enthusiasts, alot of these end up on banger racing tracks even now.
