  • The worst is when you meet them head on and you get popped for speeding. Detector goes off then quits

  • does it only alert you when a cop has his radar on, or does it also alert you when there is a cop without a radar

  • Grosse arnaque le xt 9500 est une véritable merde j'en ai fait les frais!!

Depuis février 2011 lors du retour à l'envoyeur toujours aucun remboursement malgré de nombreux appels. Ne vous faites pas avoir comme moi.

  • green hills

  • theyre like a heart rate moniter for drunk drivers

  • Still cant beat an Instant-on. :)

  • 0:32... FFS JUST HIT IT!!

  • Jw how do you keep your ix from bouncing on the windshield? Mine bounces up and down like crazy!

  • @durand001 I'd get something cushony to line the part that is against the windshield. That might help.

  • @durand001 try bending your post slightly up 5 degrees.

  • btw your 4 mph over

  • I love the sound of the my 9500ix going off.

  • This is normal. Radar/Laser detectors are "ticket notifiers" when it comes to laser. Get an Escort ZR4 laser Shifter and use it together with the 9500ix to defeat radar AND laser. laser jammers actually protect you from laser: the laser gun will be unable to get a reading.

  • lmao

  • Arent you supposed to mount the radar detector in the lowest center-most part of the windshield for best radar detection?

  • No necessarily. Just think about. The higher the detector the better line of sight it has possibly yielding higher detection. Regardless, unless you completely fail your mount it's not going to make much of a difference.

  • @claya91 in response for the first one, if you were to place it lower on the windshield, it wouldn't have a good 360 detection right?

  • @claya91 Higher for radar, lower for laser. Although, if you get hit by laser it's too late anyway, so I'd mount high.

  • i own a Escort 9500ix and this shi t don Work for me, i got 2 tickets in 6 months, First one was doing 87 MPh on 65 Zone police got me with laser gun.. never saw him Radar just alert when he shot me... whats the point of that i Though it will alert 1 or 2 miles getting close to him.... and nothing.. and there is been tons of times where i see police officer with laser gun on freeway and i get close pass by them and The Radar is like Nothing.... is That normal?

  • Get a jammer for laser.

  • @claya91 the 9500ix has a laser shifter.

  • @claya91 Felony in the State of California...

  • OK......LASER IS INSTANT. as soon as the pull the trigger they have your speed on the gun.... because the be is only 12 inches by 12 inches @ 100 feet........

when they use KA radar..... it is 16 feet wide by 16 feet high @ 100 feet... giving you time to slow down and catch the deflecting signal.

if he was behind you and then just turned it on your screwed.... or the only one on the highway.... and you read KA.. they may have you unless hes far away...

    i have the 9500 ix...

  • @jacobasael The thing is is that the laser hits the car and back to the laser almost instantaneously so unless you're around other cars you're screwed. By the time your detector goes off its already too late. Thats why you buy a laser jammer.

  • @jacobasael Dude normally when cops are using a laser their radar isnt on. The whole point of a laser is that its undetectable until they shoot it at you and by that time your fucked. Like claya91 said, get a laser jammer.

  • @jacobasael its a radar detector not a laser detector lulz, you need laser jammer to stop a laser gun

  • @jacobasael laser isnt the same as radar you need a laser jammer. radars are made for radar not laser.

  • @jacobasael you should research how a speed gun works. they dont have to scan every single car just the ones that look like their going fast most likely you were going past everyone and he saw you and scanned you right there. as for the mounted ones near school zones like the one in this video they continuously scan cars passing by.

  • @jacobasael

There is zero advance warning for Laser. Your only hope is a Laser jammer. A radar detector just lets you know that you are about to get a ticket if it goes off Laser,

  • @MattP12 there's no radars that can detect laser, only off of angle shots from other cars that are getting hit

  • @jacobasael just so you know radar detectors only ring from laser when your hit because its a straight 100m beam so get a laser jammer though its expensive (like $500-600)

  • @jacobasael Same here man. Same here....

  • @jacobasael that's normal, the only way it can detect laser is if there's other cars around you and the cop shoots them, then your radar picks it up and warns you, but yea, laser jammer are a good idea, if not illegal in your state

  • @jacobasael - you really have to understand the way radar detectors work and the limitations of the radar detector. No radar detector will sufficiently warn you of a laser alert in time. By the time you get the laser alert, the LEO most likely already registered your speed. The only way to really give yourself a fighting chance against laser is to get a laser jammer or use VEIL on your car.

  • @jacobasael

    radar is always on.

laser only goes on when he is checking your speed. and it's such a small laser beam that it won't go on if he is hitting other cars. you'll only know you are getting hit with a laser when he pings you, which by then it's too late. you could get laser jammers

  • @jacobasael Get the Laser Shifter ZR4 added to it. Also, if you're running solo or first in line of a pack, ur gonna get tagged by the laser since you would be the easiest target to aim the laser at. This has worked for me 100% of the time, and the cars in front of me have always been pulled over, not me.

  • @jacobasael Please don't blame the radar detector for not working with (lidar). Escort carries a full line of products that will protect you if you use them correctly and with common sense.

  • @jacobasael I know this response is extremely late, but just to clarify for other people who read this, radar detectors are what they are, RADAR detectors. Yes they do detect laser guns, however laser guns are more advanced than radar guns, and get your speed almost instantly. The only way to protect against laser guns is a laser jammer like claya91 said. RADAR detectors work best against RADAR guns.

  • @jacobasael

It is almost impossible to detect Laser until you are busted, or if you are lucky enough, the laser signal got bounce off from another car ahead of you. The reason is, officer are trained to aim the laser gun at your head light / front license plate where it is most reflective, and at a distance of 1000ft, the laser beam has a spread of ~14 to 16 inches, so unless the officer has a bad aim, no RD will pick up a laser signal until its too late

  • i got this yesterday, i love it so far

  • That's an annoying ass sound.

  • @SleepySkeptic You like the sound of police sirens better? ;)

  • lol

  • holy that was far and around the corner... awesome

  • Yep, and my V1 will even pick it up further than that.

  • I was on the fence and after that comment ill get a v1 hahaha

  • Ya, I mean if you want the truth I'm straight up. I own both. The trade off though is that the V1 falses and the 9500ix is quiet. Overall, I like them both for their unique qualities.

  • Just bought one! I love it.

  • what mode do you guys use?

    highway or auto?

    does it make a difference?

  • I use highway mode and just lock-out the falses. Auto mode reduces the sensitivity or X and K (not Ka) according to your speed to reduce falsing.

  • hey man i just got my 9500ix today and i want to register it to my computer so i get email alerts when new red light cameras are put in the database, how much does it cost to do this?

  • it is free to upload your radar

  • @mariansamuel not for a 9500ix i believe

  • what is the price on this radar detector?

  • $500.

  • im tryin to devide between a v1 and 9500ix which do u recommend. i know the ix has redlight and spped trap alerts but the v1 has rear detection. which do u recommend

  • how bout both

i got 3 radar detectors in my mini van and they wor real well together

  • Just got mine today and I updated it before I used it and I love it! It beats the hell out of the old Cobra!

  • Oh hell ya. That's exactly what I upgraded from.

  • Nice, what ya upgrade to?

  • 9500ix. I am also looking into buying a Valentine soon.

  • of the cobra radar detector door stop

  • Ok i dont know what k band means but I did not see any cops with radars or lasers. False alarm?

  • Did you not read the description or see the speed sign? The speed sign @ :37 was what set off his detector.

  • I speed sign isn't a false alarm but at the same time isn't a police officer. Speed signs can be K or Ka and are designed to make you more aware of you speed. I pass it every morning. Makes for a nice daily test of my RD.

  • True but the city I live in always has cops watching right by the speed sing. My sisters town is so crazy they have cop cars right next to the speed sing because their are alot of little ones under the age 0f 5 or 10 years old,

  • That sucks for most detector users that don't have expert mode. We get a courteous "multiple signals detected" alert and know there is some else up the road besides a speed sign. ; )

  • Well sometimes the cops around here dont always use their radar when they are parked around the speed sings so its NEVER EVER a good idea to be speeding around when you see speed sings.

Also their are some citys around my city that still use X band like crazy.

I try to always watch my speed and I dont even use any detector anymore becasue when I was running a detector it just made me want to speed more.

  • Speeding should not be the main reason you use it. A radar detector is a tool to make you more aware of your surroundings and protect you from unfair revenue generating speed traps; not to give you a "license" to speed. I agree with you about the speed signs though. Many times police departments will put a mobile speed sign out before they actually enforce the speed limit.

  • Please dont take it the wrong way I agree with that a radar detector does not give you a license" to speed but I found myself wanting to speed because Escort makes the best detectors made and they give you very earley warrning.

  • Uh well selective instant-on radar can make any detector its bitch. One reason to not to rely solely on a detector to speed.

  • V1 give u a range up to .5-1.0 miles advanced warning

  • That;s NOTHING I have had a over ten mile alert on my Escort detector more then once with NO false alarms so whats your point?.

With all of the false alarms that the Valentine One gives you how can you tell a real alert from a false alert? because I have owned end tested many Valentine's and they always said a cop was around and it was real hard for me to tell when a cop was really using radar. I found many Walmart stores with my V1 thank you Mr Valentine for my refund.

  • @pyro74boy In order for that to happen, you would have to do what GOL does and stage a radar source pointed directly at your detector with no terrain in the way. I doubt a LEO has his radar power turned that high for any reason.

  • @ ComputerGeek101X

It depends on the situation because trust me I have been testing detectors for years and I have been lucky to have been able to have gotten reports of cops leaving the radar gun on all the time now yes this hardly ever happens but it can and has happen to me so NEVER SAY NEVER. Also radar speed sings make for great testing.

I DO NOT TRUST GOL NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL.

The S M L aka speed zones test is the ONLY TEST I REALLY TRUST as they seem to be the most unbiased.

  • @pyro74boy I see what you are saying.

  • Totally agree claya9... They are 2 excellent detectors that are completely different. The 9500 series with its flawless GPS features and the V1 with its Flawless arrows cant be beat if used intelligently. However they both will always be debated and bashed because they are both the best in there own right.

  • You need to upgrade to a Cobra, dude.

  • Ha, everyone knows cobras own. ;)

  • sounds annoying!!!!!

  • not as annoying as patrol car sirens.

  • you're right!

  • stick with the V1...best available...and TrueLock locks out real cops...I've experienced it several times

  • Best available... maybe for you but not for everyone. Straight away sensitivity wise they are pretty much neck and neck except for an edge on around the curve detection and a slight edge on 33.8 Ka even though both did better than any other RD on the market in the GOL test. I don't use True Lock and lockout falses manually after checking the frequency in spec mode.

  • Don't get me wrong though. I would love to have a V1 for traveling but city-wise the 9500ix is quieter and doesn't require aggressive programming, K band muting, etc to get it quieter. Ramp up is the only problem I have had and in that case it was especially bad because I turned right in front of the sign at the last minute.

  • when you get a ticket because TrueLock locked out the cop...you'll know why I warned you

  • As stated above I leave TrueLock off... I don't trust it yet either.

  • I assume you use "AUTOLEARN" though?

  • I got TL and Autolearn switched. Actually I meant to say that I use true lock in SOME cases but leave Autolearn off. I got the 2 switched. My bad. :)

If the frequency is between 24.140 and 24.160 Ghz even if it is a false I don't lock it out because that is where the slight chance of locking out a LEO. 24.15 GHz is the frequency of today's K band radar guns. But for example if I pass a Walgreens and get a false at 24.112 then I would lock it out.

  • Even if a cop sits in the parking lot and runs K band radar he is running his gun at a different frequency so the IX would still alert.

  • YEA OK! Because I havent tested them at length and witnessed many times where it has locked out cops 1/2 mile from falses? Trust me...use it...and you're asking for a ticket. Nothing compares to the V1...I sold my Escort and bought one...and its the best period.

  • No, I won't get a ticket. In the past year I have used a RD in my area I have only seen 1 cop using K band and that was while he was cruising. Nashville uses mostly laser and Brentwood and other small cities within the city mostly use Ka. If the frequency is any where near 24.15 I leave it alone. I don't blindly lock out locations. I make educated decisions based on frequency as to whether or not I will lock it out. No K band radar gun manufactured will run 24.11 GHz radar but door openers will.

  • Nothing compares to the V1 for false alarms and being the most OVER RATED detector in the history of the world .

Escort is a far superior detector vs the V1 and remember Escort also owns more patents Vs ANY OTHER detecotor company including the Valentine and you can take that to the bank..

  • Pretty sure all testing by GOL will prove you're full of BS. keep smoking that crack kid.

  • I'll let GOL answer that stupid statement....as far as the arrows go...I never said they were then end all of Radar Detectors...however, when the next best company's biggest selling point is its GPS false filtering, and its proven to fail in multiple situations locking out REAL cop radar, its a no brainer to go with the RD with superior sensitivity PLUS arrows.

  • I knew when I put these videos up I was gonna have to deal with this 'V1 is better' bullshit. I've got nothing against the V1. A quiet detector with spec mode fit my RD needs better than arrows. So, I got a 9500. IMO comparing a V1 to a 9500ix is comparing apples to oranges. They are 2 excellent detectors that are completely different. When used with spec mode, GPS lockout of a cop is 99.9% impossible. BTW GOL aren't bullshit.

  • stupid statement.? what;s so stupid about the ward fact? You see the gay boys .of lidar are too busy testing there out dated radar guns and making all kinds of money for there boss Mr Valentine the CEO of the best radar detector on the face of the earth for false alarms give this a rest please V1 zombie.

  • Pfft. I trust GOL's test results far more than SML's test results. Why? First, because I was at SML 2008. SML only publishes 34.7 Ka band results and chooses not to publish their 33.8 Ka and 35.5 Ka band test results since some manufacturers would then not be able to earn the right to use SML's seal of approval. Second, because GOL's straight-line sensitivity test results were so well done that I was able to calculate true sensitivities for all RDs which matched lab numbers well within 2dBm.

  • SML has been testing radar detectors for many more years vs ANY OTHER test and also they are experts and work with the cops and all of there radar is up to date unlike GOL who has always used out dated and reject radar guns and detectors and allso the GOL testers are no experts . The ONLY thing they are experts at is being gay lover boys.

  • Ha, you just pissed off a whole bunch of people saying that. This is getting interesting.

  • No, SML hires cops. GOL uses properly calibrated radar guns. GOL conducts just as precisely controlled test setups, if not more so. You do know that you could be sued for slander? Freedom of speech is one thing, but deliberate, baseless and malicious slander is another. Just a "heads up" for what its worth.

  • Thats what I ment hires not work sorry for the typo. As far as GOL I have never ever trusted them for many reasons.

  • Someone is jealous. SML has a bunch of idiots testing the detectors I know I have been invited and declined multiple times because SML is full of idiots. Heck Craig Peterson knows how to test a radar detector better than SML...But Craig Peterson is a paid representivie of Escort and only ever will say the Escort is the best

  • I beg to disagree. I noted at SML 2008 that all tests were tightly controlled -- no funny business was observed. While I do wish that SML would publish their 33.8 and 35.5 Ka test results, I will not stand for you slamming SML and Carl Fors. Like you said, you have never participated. I have, and I observed that everything was on the up-and-up.

  • jealous? ha ha thats a good one why would I be jealous of a bunch of IDIOTS that have no idea how to test radar detecotors?. wheres this proof that Craig Peterson is paid by Escort? show me facts before you start cliaming things you can't back up. Oh and by the way Craig Peterson has picked the V1 before over the Escort in one of his older tests so how could he be paid off by Escort?. Think before you speak. God how I hate V1 zombies.

  • JTW, your mom called. Stop playing on her computer.

  • Comment removed

  • Yea... man, they are neck and neck except for a few things where V1 is better. Yet I pick the 9500 because of all the great features I TURN OFF! lol... I thought the reason of the 9500 was to loose some performance and gain features. Yet you turn them off. At least you enjoy the Auto Mode, very nice feature!

  • OMG that ramp up is horrible! How am I suppose to go from my V1 to that!?! I wish Escort would fix that, at least for the 9500ix.

  • agreed. the i and ix are horrible ramp up. the original X50 was great..but even those suck now
