Though I fight those who claim this movie is about a gay relationship - because it's just a story about two impossible friends - I must say I can see where it's coming from. Not only from Mei's borderline-girly design to the scene when Gabu stares at him in hunger. Was it really necessary to show his ass like that, in slow motion and everything? It's almost uncomfortable to watch (they could have showed a cooked lamb chop or something, like Road Runner did). Obvious to us, maybe not to Japanese?
