As a resident of Bushwick and a future college graduate I must say that this video truly offends me. It is the ignorance of people like you, who come into OUR neighborhood, and have the audacity to talk negatively about Bushwick. Bushwick is not Park Ave... but this is definately not a true representation of Bushwick. The acrid tone is spillover from an ongoing dispute on the Bushwick Wikipedia page, and I apologize for that. But the fact is, when the Germans were in Bushwick it was a rich, repectable place to live with many mansions and townhomes, many of which still exist. Additionally, Bushwick, unlike Bed-Stuy, retained it elevateds, so that transport to the city is readily avaiable. For those reasons, I see hipsters, basically the rif-raf of the information economy colonizing Bushwick and beyond.

But they didn't, instead they sold drugs and ruin lives. Now 2007 comes, real estate market in New York seems to be going up indefinitely that white people can not afford to live in the Lower East Side any more. that shoes just how racist the the government is..they wont fix shit up until white people decide "hey rent is to high in the city ..lets move to the so called ghetto"...shit this is our neighborhood...my family owned 3 brownstones in bushwick...to watch white people move in a turn shit upside down and make it hard for people who were born and rasied here to even afford to live here anymore.fuck that

Uh, it's not up to the government to fix things up. That's YOUR job. Living in a ghetto is a choice. Poor people can do basic things like picking up litter, painting, fixing windows, planting flowers, etc. Not doing those basic things is what makes a place a ghetto.

I'm very offended by this video.
Yes I am white nd yes i have lived in Bushwick my entire life, as has most of my family. I feel as though you do not understand the effects gentrification is having on the neighborhood and its residents. For you to poke fun at the situation through your video shows a lack of compassion. Although this video may have been meant light heartedly, it ridicules a culture which people hold dear to their hearts.

What's so offensive about it? It's SATIRE. I was laughing my head off as she "markets" the neighborhood. LOL! I'm a white guy born there in '65. Saw the neighborhood destroy itself in '77, got tired of police harrassing me thinking I was coming in to buy drugs in the late 80's... left and never looked back.
I came in this summer for a friends funeral home, and Bushwick is STILL a shithole. I think my old house on 1303 Greene Ave. is a crackhouse or something.

Those whom are getting the humor in this seem to be mostly young artists, others either seem to think its offensive or stupid. As a young artist myself, I wish more so not to be able to laugh lightheartedly at this but rather to be targeted as the social lubricants we are. I find what attraction I do have to this piece to be self righteous, allowing one to feel above the issue. I don't want to be angry because I feel you are offending others. Please target me and my peers. Piss me off!

i love this, it is so true. i've moved into billyburg over 25 years ago and it wasn't as nice as bushwick is today. my rent keeps
going up as well as the number of my
roommates. some people go to the hamptons, or as my local friends do, go upstate. i just go to st.thomas, u.s.v.i. where it's hot all the time (don't have to worry if we have heat this week end), architecture is as old, culture is about the same, and the waters are always turquoise. chk out 'bambini art' vedio brooklyn.

2) however.. being aware of the origin of some the content.. i find this criticism becomes trite and flashy to get some shallow laughter. Some footage was taken of children at a neighborhood event put on by local artists celebrating community and allowing neighbors to get to know eachother..

1) yeah, yeah, yeah.. i get it.. i laughed .. i don't think it's racist.. i live in bushwick .. however, i feel that that the people who are getting it are the people that already understand what the problem is.. obviously the people that don't really understand the sarcasm in the video are confused and getting offended.. i'm not saying let's have a TLC discussion.. but i do feel that the video is purely critical.. a neccesary tool for advancement.
