@bitsurfer the max grade is about 24%...it is very short but very painful. The worst thing is the wind.

Once you bust your head open you won't think helmets are so gay.

Trust me, I've been where you've been. I used to think helmets were so stupid. I still wore them. Crashed in a 60km/hr descent and went to the hospital. Doctor said if I didn't wear a helmet, I would be dead or seriously injured including brain damage. Walked away with a mild concussion.

On the practice ride I had the gearing at 36x27. It was not enough for me so i put on a 34x27 for the race. Sometimes it did not feel like enough! Hopefully this year I will simply be in better shape.

Well if you can push even 34 x 27 up MW thats awesome. Im going to get a 26 front with a 16-27 cassette for a range of usable gears.

Thanks for the comment. The wheels are Neuvation R28SL3. They are light, stiff and durable...good value for the money. Maybe I'll see you there in '09!

Haha...yeah driving was harder than I thought it would be! At one point in the filming I said "Hmmm I really don't want to hit them" and then put the camera down. During the real race I won't be able to get this kind of footage so I'm glad we did this time!
