Cheyenne, WY Tornado Thursday 5-22-08

For anyone wondering, Cheyenne doesn't get too many tornadoes. I was in Laramie that day (I was still in junior high at the time), and I saw the rotation pretty much right next to the one that hit. I didn't SEE it hit the building, but we could all hear it. The only bad part was the hail damage, but otherwise, it was freaking awesome.

Watching the video I was like "move bitch, move!", I guess you can tell there have never been any tornados where I'm from in my life time. xD

@takemypot We do, but I've never seen one go into town, during the season in which this video was taken, I think a dozen or so tornadoes touched down, Laramie had the real damage, I think there was one death, via falling debris, but no deaths from the tornadoes directly.

Cheyenne and the surrounding jurisdictions have their shit together, and they make sure the residents have MORE than enough time to get to safety, I was driving on College during this, and the LEOs were making sure we we safe

I remember this! There were tornadoes in Laramie too, and I got to miss Math class because of it. Also, I had to stay in the school basement until the warning was lifted at 4.

i think there was some damage but not alot. no 1 died or anything and it only touched down for like a second or something then it came back up. tht was an interesting day tho. and the news channel 5 weather guy was nice cuz he was like im gonna stay with you guys even if my life is in danger

I work at Great Lakes Aviation in Cheyenne too, and it sucked. Can't even describe the pain and suffering that went on trying to keep flights in line.

the video responses are from the same tornado only 1/4 mile from my location to the south of the tornado.

You can say that again!!! I am at apartments where they force us into a deathtrap of a windowless basement with asbestos, fiberglass, smoke, and other toxic things in the air. To top it off, they did not even listen to the National Weather Service; they listened to outdated reports on another station and made everybody stay unnecessarily for hours longer down there.
