buddy knox was such best freinds with my family since my gramma was shurly evans ( she won a contest like american idol when she was just 3!!!!) (even out of al the adults !!!) i love her!!!
i like this song! i'm just 28 yrs. old but i love this kind of music. i kinda tired of listening to six feet under so i changed to the classics for a change. ^_^
Yeeah, like someone would take the risk of appearing in a US military uniform on national TV if he wasn't in the military? He'd have been arrested in a nanosecond for impersonating a military officer if he hadn't been in the military! Think people, think! BTW - this clip IS from the Ed Sullivan show and the Army told him he could only appear on the show IF he wore his uniform!!
Buddy went to school in Happy, Texas and then went to West Texas State College (now called West Texas A&M University) in Canyon, Texas where he was in the ROTC and then on into the Army. He played on my dad's football team in Happy.

as long as there are lips to be kissed love will never die or say bye as my eye will all ways blink and wink wink .skate over lips with lip stick to slide my lips against and steal a kiss for it is not a crime
Buddy passed away Feb.14th, 1999 from cancer. I loved his big hits after hearing them at an early age, & got the Buddy Knox/Jimmy Bowen 2 CD set a few years ago. I found out he had a LOT of good recordings. (I actually bought the CD for his recording of "I Ain't Sharin' Sharon" for I was seeing a girl by that name at the time, & loved oldies as much as I did.
Great singer. Youtube search MANUEL VARGAS (DISCO 45 and VIVA EL ROCK AND ROLL) and you will see an honoring to many beautiful rock and roll songs of these years.

The 'B' side of this- Devil Woman- could still be a rockin' alt-country fiddler's hoedown. It was HOT! ^..^

There are no love songs to Jewish girls -- nothing like Wake Up, Little Sophie.

If you, like me, feel Buddy should absolutely be in the R&R Hall of Fame, please write them a letter or e-mail and request they consider doing this.
Only with our help will Buddy Knox get the recognition he deserves and that is WAY overdue.

Does anyone know why he is appearing in a US Army uniform? Was he actually in the army at the time?

I didn't know he had died(Feb. '99)- lung cancer from lifelong cigarette smoking. He was handsome(sort of James Dean looking)!

I met Buddy about three years earlier. He was visiting a friend in Washington State and we met at a local music store that I worked at at the time.
I auditioned for him and could have had the gig... but it meant some changes in my life that I couldn't deal with.
I remember thinking a man that smokes that much can't be long for this world... and he wasn't. It's too bad, he seemed like a nice man.
