  • Does having a job keep your child from you?

  • I don't have time for a job.

  • You make a fair point. There's really only one good reason to have a job. Necessity.

On the down side. bosses can treat employees badly. I know at the last place I worked the foreman over the whole place treated people poorly. I am glad I dont work there anymore.

  • I have social anxiety / social phobis. for me having a job and being around people is difficult.

  • Great point... easier said than done however..

  • what about diversifying your employment? have a part time job as well as another financial pursuit on the side that way if one does better than the other at different times then your income is more likely to stay more stable? I have a 38hr/wk day job but have begun investing a lot of my savings, safely for now, with more riskier stuff when I've learned more over the next few years

  • People should stop saying, "in my opinion" about anything. All it means is that you are not too secure in your opinion, that's why you are excusing your opinion before you can be berated for it. Just state what you think, no apologies.

  • Good on you, Don't be a wage slave!@

In the 1960's in grade school they told us that people in the future (now) people would be working 20 hours a week.

When the future came people were working 60 hours a week during the housing bubble. I thought well they were wrong back in the day when they told us that.

Now Goverment statistics have shown the average work week is dropped to 32 hours.

With the coming collapse I guess they were right after all back in the day.

    Great vid!

  • Good points. BTW - you're as smart as you are pretty.

    Take care.

  • Very good vid. I just lost my job and for a few years I have been considering the same cons. Now I've lost the job I'm somewhat apprehensive but also excited. Also interestingly it was only since I got rid of my TV about 3 years ago that I started to realise that I didn't really want to pursue a profession working for someone else. I wanted to be myself and not conform to someone elses (low) standards. Thanks, you helped a lot.

  • Janet, You make some good points & I agree with alot of them. For myself however I like a way to provide for my family that I can rely on most of the time.. Aside from a paycheck I can count on every 2 weeks, I also have Affordable Health Insurance, this can mean the difference between life and death for some, for others it saves them from going bankrupt when a major illness strikes a family member..

Anyhow, keep it up, love your videos!

  • Yes, health care can be so expensive for the self-employed especially.

I found an individual health plan (medical, dental, vision) through Anthem that is fairly affordable for my son and for me. I just have to pay for each of us separately, but it has worked out very well so far.

  • You're too attracive for low quality video. haha. ;)

I wish I could leave my rotating shift factory job... blach!!

  • If it pays a living wage, a factory job is a rare job nowadays!

  • Ha Ha Ha! Fox news? Do you even know who you're talking to here? I and most of your subscribers are well aware of what's going on and I bet a good percentage of us no longer watch tv. I got rid of mine 2 years ago. Toward the end of the video I think you were talking to average Americans, not us.

  • I know a few of my fellow mechanics who have gone into business for themselves. I gotta say they seem to work harder and longer than I do. And a lot of time time isn't billed out so he doesn't get paid for it. I work my 8 and go home. I have plenty of time for my hobbies. I get a lot of non-cardio exercise from work (heavy lifting and such) and I get cardio from my Karate class.

I chose to live close to work. My commute is a half hour, on my bicycle, or about 12 minutes by car.

    I like my job.

  • vention4wh,

I'm talking to everyone - even people who haven't subscribed. I'm trying to wake people up. I know what you mean though...

  • I know a guy that is refinishing the wood floors in two homes owned by a successful Dentist, in trade or barter for dental work.

If the workmanship on his teeth, turns out half as good as the workmanship on the floors, it is a win/win.

The real point I am trying to make is that we have become so attached to dollar-based living and thriving that we have become complacent and less creative.

  • When you or I are self-employed we are less dependent on someone else to guide our destinies and limit our creativity.

We will be constantly looking to expand our business and to create wealth and sustenance from something we have created.

We will also have more experience as a result. Our minds will expand and we will have a better understanding of how important our time is here.

As far as titles, you are an "Advertising Consultant". Not too shabby! Imagine what that could mean!

  • You just reminded me of an idea I had for another video. Maybe tomorrow. :)

  • A lot of anxiety comes from social pressure and competitiveness. The workplace sets a pace and keeps the workforce under stress.

  • Job description and title puts structure to one's working life. Ego compares itself to the outside environment. Extroverts find comfort in finding their lace in the outer world, and alleviates the time where the mind is calm . The introvert is far less concerned with receiving feedback from the external and finds pleasure in thinking and contemplating.

  • Tis better to rule in hell than serve in heaven!

  • You have very deep thoughts for such a young person . Keep up the good work.

  • Hi Janet, you're looking good in your new relaxed mode (hair down, sitting down). I think contact lenses would suit you also?.

I'm my own boss and I loved your comment about having a job "is like a slow painfull death".. that's too funny :)

  • Very interesting, all your videos are incredibly intresting, and i agree with a lot of what you say, keep doing what you do :) Its wonderful
