I also want to share that I ran a call on a gun shot wound (Paramedic here) and a man was shot by a 25 acp below his underarm somehow, on his side, he was in shock and he later died in the ambulance. (no exit wound) I agree with shot placement, that was definitely a luck shot. Thanks for the Great videos and God Bless America!!
very informative video. i agree with most of what you said. personally, insteal of thinking double or tripple shot groupings, at the ranges a church gun would be used i would empty into the head. and if i did not have a spare magazine proceed to beat the purp with my empty gun. just a note, it looks more like you are shooting in a isocelese or modified weaver stance, which is what i prefer.
With these small calibre rounds, would it be wise in winter NOT to use hollow points? I am concerned a leather jacket might cause hollow points to open prematurely.

A one in four chance of stopping an attacker with one shot DOES NOT mean that it takes four shots to stop him. The first bullet goes in, and if that doesn't work, then a second bullet will have probably a 100% chance of taking him down. If the attacker keeps going with two bullets in his gut, he's probably satan incarnate. This guy never studied probability in school, lol.
Don't buy the .25 Expanding Points. The box I received showed some quality control issues from Winchester. About 70% of the bullets had lousy crimps and you could twist the bullets like you can with cheap .22lr ammo. I had one expand to .44'', but the penetration was terrible. The rest never expanded and still had lousy penetration. You want a FMJ bullet. If your going to carry a .25 automatic why limit yourself to near-22lr weights?

Also, CQB? What the hell? You get attacked, you grab a knife? A knife is NOT a defensive weapon, it's hard as hell to defend from an assault with a knife. Basically you have to pray "he" doesn't have a gun and runs or that you can hit his arms and legs when "he" attacks.

Just ask yourself how likely *you* would be to attack someone who pulled a .25 pistol on you. As with any handgun, shot placement trumps caliber every time. Also, the "crumpled stance" is more nonsense. The fact is that a small handgun is far less likely to be taken from me than a large one, as I will have a much better grip.
Well, a .22 would not kill in one shot, but why does everyone think you must kill for self-defense? If you shoot someone in the chest with a .22, the shock and pain would most likely make them think again. They live, and you live. Win-win?
@kvitka075 My uncle who's a cop where I am from, we were on this topic about 22lr being a shitty round and he told me when he was in the academy they had recruits watch a vid that was recorded from a police cruiser that showed a cop getting shot with a 22 pistol, he was wearing a bulletproof vest but he was hit in the arm long story short the bullet ricocheted through his armpit and went into his heart killing him instantly. Bullet is a bullet no matter how small it can still kill you.

That's not quite the way ballistics work. First shot may only have 25% chance of stopping an attacker physically but the stopping power goes up exponentially with each successive shot. Also once the average attacker is shot once, statistics show they won't want a second dose.
Don, which of the two would you carry more out of a semi auto pistol; a .22 or .25? I may want to up it to a .32 (I really need a small compact gun I can keep on target while in tight work clothes) but am afraid of rim lock. Is this a real issue when carrying?
you guys are so lucky you live in the states cause in canada if you get caught with any gun on you. you go to jail so thats why most people that use self defence weapons in canada carry batons,tazers or allot of time knifes which to me i would be more scared of a knife then a gun for some reason
This guy knows his stuff. Mouse guns are totally effective when used correctly and confidently. In a self defense situation when someone is 2 feet away from it's a simple proposition- you shoot for the neck, head, and heart!
You also have to realize that most of the time, the mere shock of actually getting shot in the gut and having no idea what sized bullet shot you will scare attackers off or at least lay them out so they stop the attack. PLUS who wants to kill anyone anyway... the most important thing is to STOP the attack... not fucking kill anyone. ANd you could face some weird ass criminal charges depending on how the attack went down. I'd EASILY rather have a .22 for self defense.

Yeah, if you're lucky or a good enough shot to hit an attacker in the neck or face. What about a body shot? Would .25acp with jhp or magsafe get through a leather jacket? I think with .25 acp that penetration is key, and for that you need fmj.

My question is where did you get you statistics that only 1/4 of the shots fired from a mouse gun stop an attacker? It seems a bit skewed from what I'd expect.
Absolutely spot on technique from being a survivor with my tomcat-32. hold it close it, only point out to aim at farther than 15 ft targets using the sights. Also consider the expanding frangible rounds with nytrillium tungsten for complete devastation at the target and stop the slug from going through the walls.
Not to break balls, but those targets *were* set up in front of a hill, right? You practice excellent safety checks for weapons being loaded, I would hate to think those rounds were indiscriminately flying downrange lol.

you say that with 22lr or 25acp you must shoot to head. i think that is stupid to use hollow point ammo for head shoot. bullet can expand and stop before he comes to brain
shot shells are a bad idea because of all the stupid court cases. example (a man tries to rob this guys house and falls through the roof on a kitchen knife, sues the home owner and wins). If you use shot shell you could maim him and now hes got a court case. Its just better to shoot to kill; who are they going to believe dead man tell no tails.
I have yet to find any real scientific evidence that proves mouse guns are 'ineffective'. Also if were to sit on a jury and have to decide to lock up someone after a typical self defense encounter, but the man had been shot in the head (a small target, with a less accurate pistol) I don't think I would be as receptive to his argument then if he had been shot where the Army (and my CCW instructor) tells everyone to shoot for 'center of mass'.

Please be cautious with any jennings, bryco, or davis small caliber arms. I believe there are suitable arms in the lowest price bracket, however the three I listed have terrible efficiency issues that myself and others in my community have experienced!

The 22 LR stops those aligators you place that round in the right place. My uncle use to hunt only with the 22LR. And you are right about close in encounters I every time someone has pulled a hand gun on me they were close enough to have pulled a knife. The crumplead weaver stance is what has been recommended we learn for home self defense. @ home I can carry any size weapon I choose so I choose shotgun. When in the car I have a mouse NA22LR not the best but better than just a knife
wouldn't using one of these be an unnecessary risk? i've got an american arms .22 mini revolver and a bersa .22 pistol and I can tell you I'd rather give away my money than having to use it against an armed agressor. You can get a .32 almost as portable but much more reliable (i've got an FN in this caliber).

Back in the 80's & 90's the only guns afforded in low-income neighborhoods were 25 cal, 32cal, 380cal. And all of these thugs, gangsters, where getting killed by these guns. But using a gun is lethal force. So you are pretty much fucked because you will go in for misuse of your weapon.
Also, CQB? What the hell? You get attacked, you grab a knife? A knife is NOT a defensive weapon, it's hard as hell to defend from an assault with a knife. Basically you have to pray "he" doesn't have a gun and runs or that you can hit his arms and legs when "he" attacks.

Much ado about nothing. I hate it when people use the relative differences between calibers to claim a particular weapon is "not an effective defense weapon". Just ask yourself how likely *you* would be to attack someone who pulled a .25 pistol on you. As with any handgun, shot placement trumps caliber every time. Also, the "crumpled stance" is more nonsense. The fact is that a small handgun is far less likely to be taken from me than a large one, as I will have a much better grip.

@kvitka075 My uncle who's a cop where I am from, we were on this topic about 22lr being a shitty round and he told me when he was in the academy they had recruits watch a vid that was recorded from a police cruiser that showed a cop getting shot with a 22 pistol, he was wearing a bulletproof vest but he was hit in the arm long story short the bullet ricocheted through his armpit and went into his heart killing him instantly. Bullet is a bullet no matter how small it can still kill you.

That's not quite the way ballistics work. First shot may only have 25% chance of stopping an attacker physically but the stopping power goes up exponentially with each successive shot. Also once the average attacker is shot once, statistics show they won't want a second dose.

You also have to realize that most of the time, the mere shock of actually getting shot in the gut and having no idea what sized bullet shot you will scare attackers off or at least lay them out so they stop the attack. PLUS who wants to kill anyone anyway... the most important thing is to STOP the attack... not fucking kill anyone. ANd you could face some weird ass criminal charges depending on how the attack went down. I'd EASILY rather have a .22 for self defense.

Those things are like little hand grenades, a neck shot from a magsafe will do more damage then either a FMJ or a JHP although penetration is minimal.

Absolutely spot on technique from being a survivor with my tomcat-32. hold it close it, only point out to aim at farther than 15 ft targets using the sights. Also consider the expanding frangible rounds with nytrillium tungsten for complete devastation at the target and stop the slug from going through the walls.

I have yet to find any real scientific evidence that proves mouse guns are 'ineffective'. Also if were to sit on a jury and have to decide to lock up someone after a typical self defense encounter, but the man had been shot in the head (a small target, with a less accurate pistol) I don't think I would be as receptive to his argument then if he had been shot where the Army (and my CCW instructor) tells everyone to shoot for 'center of mass'.

The 22 LR stops those aligators you place that round in the right place. My uncle use to hunt only with the 22LR. And you are right about close in encounters I every time someone has pulled a hand gun on me they were close enough to have pulled a knife. The crumplead weaver stance is what has been recommended we learn for home self defense. @ home I can carry any size weapon I choose so I choose shotgun. When in the car I have a mouse NA22LR not the best but better than just a knife

wouldn't using one of these be an unnecessary risk? i've got an american arms .22 mini revolver and a bersa .22 pistol and I can tell you I'd rather give away my money than having to use it against an armed agressor. You can get a .32 almost as portable but much more reliable (i've got an FN in this caliber).
