If french's planes werent as competent it's because it's one of the first country to have this war in his territory, remember : maybe americans had good planes but they had more than 1 years to prepared them.

France in 1939 is not similar to USA in 11 september 2001, americans could stop the planes and save lives, but they are too stupid and they thinked they were invisible.

@edy093 you are quite right ,the spitfire took a number of years to develop from the racing seaplane ,french army was massive and powerful but relied on maginot line ,america 9/11 if you look into it does seem like a set up to takje usa into war with afghanistan and iraq watch farenhieght 9/11

I first apologize to have compared 09/11 with france in 1939, that is not the same subject, and my world was a bit racist again americans, sorry ^^'(yesterday I was tired).You are right to talk about the marginot line, in effect, Philippe Pétain who was the etat major's leader thinked than German didn't had any chance to cross it(of course they did). Furthermore, when panzers were joined in bigs division, B2 and B1 french were dissiped.

This part of the history is a big shame to France, we all know than we helped Hitler but that was cause of the Leaders like Pétain.

But don't forget, with that there was too Charles de Gaulle, exile in great britain, who helped a lot the allies with "La France Libre".

So it's easy to critic french planes, but think more to the context!

@edy093 yes the great Charles de Gaulle ,he and family lived in exile during the war 2 miles from here where i live ,a place called duddleston heath in shropshire ,hitler was a evil liar ,he tricked everyone ,france or the french have nothing to be ashamed of ,i often think of Oradour sur glane ,what so many suffered ,if only the neonazis today could be shown what happened in places like that ,the world would be a better place
