Yes, when I learned some of the film was based off of paintings, it was the painting at 2:08 that immediately came to mind! Berger's Ways of Seeing exampled it if I recall correctly.
This video is really amazing. The movie is a real real TOP chef d'oeuvre Thank you Kubrick for the movie and thanks to marcusso and the person who made this video.
I need some help, I need names of paintings that Kubrick may have been directly inspired by. The art book he used personally in the production of Barry Lyndon or paintings that loosely resemble scenes from the film. Email at: trettifem@gmail.com
a brilliant piece this video...absolutely spot on, the artistry in this movie makes me weep...the interior shots are exquisite and beautifully textured and the exterior shots stunning and majestic.
a celluloid masterwork and my most anticipated 'blu ray' release...it looks sublime on LCD upscaled 1080p already!!!
BARRY LYNDON, Kubrick's best film, was never duly appreciated by the masses. Beautiful things are not intended for the masses, as we, Elitists, well know...
What a genius! I KNEW that he was trying to make the movie look like baroque paintings,(which as a portrait painter in the Old Masters style is why I LOVE Barry Lyndon so much) and this confirms it. Great video, thank you!
This video is amazing. The movie is an absolute chef d'oeuvre, it's an all in one perfect movie, one of the moste beautiful ever made. Nobody is able to do this these days. Thank you Kubrick for the movie and thanks to marcusso and the person who made this video.
It's not an idea... it's a well know fact that Stanley used the old (primarely) Dutch paintings ala Caravagio for his composition and lightning effects.
Thank you for posting, now whe know why somethings are beatifull and some are not.
Good things oftenly are a prgression of just hard thinking and tedious work.
3:32 that scene works quite well in evoking an indoor painting of the period. Wow.
