I'm sorry to say this bird is probably dead. I went there the last 3 days to photograph birds, and none of the toms acted like this one did.

I'm gonn miss the cantakerous old coot!!!

As I listen to this video, I hear the sound you guys probably think is a spit, I hear it again at 28, 56 and 58, and I hear it while he is gobbling. It is not possible for a bird to spot and gobble at the same time. Not sure what it is, but it is not spitting, believe me, i was there a lot closer tham any of you were. I wish it was, because then I could tel; people that I had a bird spiting on this video. I think I have it on another one.

@naturpro I actually think that sound is his wings scraping against the leaves. Great video...are you in a blind? It sounds like you are in the city. This bird probably isn't as wiley as a southern Iowa turkey. Those things spook if you blink.

I never said he was not a residential bird, for crying out loud I shouldn't have to, listen to the cars going by. Of course he is residential, He attacks cars. I've heard a spit and drum as close as 1 foot from penned birds, and I've heard several spits and drumming as far away as 15 yards. At this distance, about 10 feet, you would hear a drum, but there is none. The soud you are haring is somone beting on a dumpster or pipe or somehtihg. Ther is a tire store near here.

I'll be checking on these birds later this week, because I have turkey school students coming in April. The are wild - so they may have moved.

You might fool other people on here into thinking that that bird is wild, but your not fooling me. That bird is either tame or lives in a residential neighborhood. By the way, yes he is spitting, that is the sound you hear when he goes "pfffhhhttt". the drum comes immediately afterword and is usually inaubidle, background noise or not.

About the spittng and drumming, there is derinitely no drumming that is audible, too much background noise to hear it. I hear the noise that sounds like a spit, but again, because of all the other noises, I'm not sure.

Dude that thing is spitting and drumming at 11 second mark, 17 second mark, 27 second mark and at the 1:15 minute mark...........

At no point does this tom "spit and drum", you're hearing some other sound, not the turkey. I've got drumming on another video.

You guys are crazy. If hes got camo on, and not moving too much, the turkey probably never even knew he was there. DID YOU HEAR HIM SPITTIN AND DRUMMIN!? Sooo cool. I shot a Tom a couple weeks ago, and he was struttin and spittin for me at 10 yards. Awesome vid!
