  • is it ok if children have like 1 a week or 1 month

  • @gogo123480 For the long term "associative effects" I would not let any of my children drink these. Why give your kids a crutch? They WILL have a energy boost which can lead to addiction. To their young mind, it appears that if your are feeling down/tired, drink one of these.

The is much evidence that addictive behaviors like alcohol and gambling are genetic predispositions. Do you really want to experiment on YOUR kid?

  • Are you craving for a chemical that eats holes in your brain? Is your life boring and you are in need of a death from a sudden heart attack ? Do you like spending money on fixing cavities in you mouth and would love to join the growing number of people with cardiovascular diseases?

If this is sounds like you then - get your energy drink today!

  • iz it bad if u dont drink them 2 offten?

  • @kelseysbasement Please read the comments I've replied to earlier. Basically "bad" is relative and so is "often". do your research and make your own determination.

  • I've never tried any energy drinks, don't plan to. I feel bad enough that I'm like pop (soda), and I don't drink coffee. caffeine is very addictive.

  • thanks man!

  • this is really making me wanna stop drinking it but when im addicted i cant stop, any help? please?

  • @devildean123 There are safe herbals like ginseng ( Maca is Lepidium meyenii- Peruvian ginseng, aka Maca or Radix Angelica sinensis (Female ginseng, aka Dong Quai ) to help elevate energy and mood. There are different qualities of herbs and usually price in indicative of quality. Green tea in "Macha" powder form is a safe caffeine alternative from food grade caffeine found in NRG drinks. Each of these plants have different uses, research the properties before using.

  • @goldenpizza im sorry but i had no idea what you just said :(

  • @devildean123 use the internet brah. Research the words you dont understand.

  • just drink it when you are really tired and you cant afford to be,but dont touch it just cause you think its cool,if you dont sit on your ass all day,eat right and do some exercise you have enough energy

  • Lol true plus it isn't bad to have a monster here and there as long as u stay in movement Ur good not even Ur still fine

  • The funny thing is im a 13 yr old girl and ive drink so many its not even funny i drink so many different ones and the only one that makes me hyper is green monster and nos the assaults do absolutely nothing and most do next to nothing thes things are not as bad as people think

  • @cutiegirls4ever

This is because you're probably addicted to caffeine and so the effects of the drinks are null. If you drink them often, yes, they are bad for you. Do some research.

  • are five hour energy drinks good for you?

  • Wiki up panax.

  • What's the rate of intake that would give you negative affects on the body? (say....per week?)

  • @jimmerbobber Negative effects are evident upon consumption. While you may not think of effects like elevated heart rate is negative, for some, it is. This question is similar to "how much poison can I consume?" well in trace amounts you may not even notice it. but to the wrong biology, it can kill.

  • Yeah those drinks are terrible for you. You can listen to this guy if you want, so keep drinking up people =) Enjoy the kidney stones bound to form in your body and everything else.

  • Thanks for the video I knew they were bad for you but I didn't realise it was this bad I won't be drinking any energy drinks anymore.

  • what if i drank one during a day and just a few sips here and there????

  • @themulletmanjeeper I'm not your mother. You do what you want. With authority comes responsibility.

  • red bull is so flavorful its like music in my mouth mmmmmm...but its bad

  • i had 3 seizures and i think it might of been cuz i drank lots of monsters before my first one, do you think it would of had something to do with it?

  • So if our body grew tolerance to some of these chemicals would the energy drink be Les bad for you?

  • you do sound like you know what your talking about but I have a question... u said to drink lots and lots of water but wouldn't taking in more than an ample amount overwork the kidneys.

  • @dschadrac83 4-6 glasses (8 ounce size) of water over 8 hours time is about right. Just try to drink a lot of water, even when you are thirsty and you throat stops swallowing (easily) when you've had enough. But true, no one should ever try to drink over 2 quarts in one sitting.

  • MAAA HUUUNG - can you tell I'm drinking an energy drink now??

  • my son was pinning all of opponents at his last wrestling meet. then BAM he drinks a 5 hour energy drink and he loses his last match.. not only did he lose, but he lost by 15 points. he basically gave up. That energy drink didnt just affect him physiologically, but it gave him a massive emotional down turn as well.

    THOSE DRINKS ARE PURE EVIL!

  • Is it OK to drink 1 only 1 monster energy drink every day?

  • wait? So caffeine breaks down bones...hold up! What if I drink 1 cup of Coffee a day, which isn't much, in the morning and afterwards I could eat 2 pieces of swiss cheese, should that make up for it? Cheese does have calcium.

  • @EricSchwin22 Just because you intake calcium (calcium citrate, calcium carbonate, calcium chloride, calcium sulfate, etc) does not mean your body will absorb it.

  • Thanks for the info. I've been curious about the bad health effects ever since my FIRST energy drink. Took it before an exam and 20 minutes later ended up passing out. In no way am I out of shape either. So again thanks. I never had another energy drink after that and I don't plan on it. Just doesn't seem all that good to me, it's sad though that these items are so popular mainly to today's youth.

  • I drink one monster a day-ish, sometimes i don't, but i've recently pulled that number down from 3 a day, and tbh i did it with ease, but Monsters are so gorgeous, i'm not stopping with them! but can they cause impotence and infertility? I know about liver, kidney and bowel damage and also weight gain but what about impotence and infertility?

  • Hey! Glodenpizza thank you for telling me all this in formation i only drank monster once and i got tired in 5 minuites. So I will never drink engery drinks again.

  • I have 4 days of school in a week, and i drink one every day before i go to school.. Or else i just cant get focussed.. So 4 energydrinks a week. Probably bad, but i just cant go without it ):

  • is it ok if i would drink 1 like once ever few ps good video

  • is it ok to drink 1 monser every week?

  • @mrLordDino Everyone can do what they want. I'm merely informing those interested that there are costs to the benefits derived from drinking these swills and while it is a numbers game, (less poison is better than more poison) its up to you to make the decision once you have investigated the "benefits" of energy drinks.

  • @mrLordDino I would say to stay away from those period...

  • I drink one Monster every week. While I find the taste ridiculously appealing, I've had it in my head that drinking these in frequent instances would be very bad for me. So I ration myself every week LOL it's sad.

If you're drinking these every day... STOP.

  • what do u think about celsius drink???

  • 1 energy a week, makes me feel good

  • I started of drinking monsters because my medication made me sleepy 5 years ago. Now I am at 2 cases of monster a day, as well as need a few shooters to get the same effect.. Am I going to die.. I tried to quit and cannot function. I am disabled as it is so this gives me the boost and energy to get things done. My doctor put me on a multi vitamin and a vitiman d recently because my legs muscles are decaying and Ive had 3 sergeries on my knee and have chronic pain.. What can I do to fix this

  • @simbalage22 Your magic word is DETOX. Living a modern lifestyle, you may have heavy metal poisoning, a clogged gallbladder and poor functioning kidneys. There are so many ways to detox. Herbal solutions, exercise, flushes and cleanses, massage, Colon hydrotherapy, etc all may help remove the sludge that accumulates in 20-40 years of low nutrient food, bathing in toxic chemicals, breathing polluted air and the Rx world of "side effects" from residual chemical poisoning. Seek your journey.

  • @simbalage22 WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DRINT 2 CASES A DAY!!!??? That will screw with you seriously bad. simply just quit and go see a doctor. The most i have is 3 a week and im a 13 year old and i play sports everyday. You dont need ebergy drinks for energy. eat a good meal with fruits and veggies and you get energy. only drink them when you are really trying to get worked out. fricken 2 cases a day will KILL you.

  • i know they are bad for me but i dont care im addicted i love the taste of them i drink 2 usualy a day if i can get to it

  • what do you think of Kombucha Tea ive just recently started drinking it and notice it gives me a up lifting feeling and increased well being what are your thoughts on it ?

  • @Reaper139139 Kombucha is fermented mushrooms. It aids with digestion and has important live cultures but is not for everyone (particular is they have some digestive issues and Kombucha makes it worse).

  • I just finished a Venom fruit punch. Now I will go get me a Nos grape. Good video, but I'm not convinced. Well Monsters on the other hand do mean the sign of the beast when the can is turned up side down, so for the most part. I can go with u on these drinks are bad

  • i dont consume them regularly......i just drink them wen i really (not really) need them.......like riding my bicycle to very far places

  • I''d say i drink 4-6 monster energy's and 4 red bull's a week....it sounds weird but i feel like i need them i get times when i grave them. i know that cant be right at my age (16)

  • Nrg drinks have different effcts on diff people but i persnally get a bigger kick outta coffee. What is bad is smallr kids (and not just in age) take like 1.5 litre bottles and guzzle em. But unless you are able to drink around 5 cans befoe the effects of the first wear off you aint gonna die added to this there are antioxidants in nrg drinks which stop heart attacks i mean a big mac aint good for ya but we still all eat em

  • Some of these energy drink companies are under investigation for adding african tree bark, called Yohimbe to them. Several people have died as a suspected result of drinking energy drinks that have ingredients in them that are not even listed on the labels, and are banned from certain uses already. Beware!!

  • Basically use them for activities where you need attentiveness and maybe even a little physical awareness but I wouldn't use them for sports or other strenuous activities as your heart is already pumping fast. That's when they get dangerous.

  • Caffeine and sugar may be bad for you but in moderation they shouldn't really effect you. I like to drink energy drinks, mostly monster. I've tried various brands and have found this one to be just right for me. Redbull gave me the common "crash" and not really enough "energy" to be worth it. I drink Lo Carb monster about once a day sometimes 2. I would agree that they help with non strenuous activities like taking tests or jobs that require attention but not much physical.

  • This is scary

  • I drink Monster, I like the taste. That's it. I never feel tired nor hyper. It does nothing for me or to me(that I notice). I like the flavor. I also drink alot of milk and water. It is like a regular drink. I also don't drink it constantly. I do get a 6pack and have one about every morning, and then I wont buy any more for a while until I feel like I want some. It's just like coke or flavored water to me. Just my $.02

  • I've been having a great 2 weeks now, didn't fuck up any sleeping rythm during the weekends. Eating healthy, but i drank this energy drink "Battery" 5 hours ago on a date. Now i feel like i'm numb and tired, and i want to sleep so bad. I was so stupid drinking it, it's 01:16AM now and it maybe take 1 or two more hours before i can fall asleep again. And i got school tomorrow, i was a mess before, ande i'm going to have to fix it again. Don't take energy drinks.

  • I regret trying my first energy drink because i bought a 4 pack and i kept drinking them because they were so good and that 1 day i got up so fast my blood pressure drop and i almost passed out. I havent drank any until this day

  • Gee because they aren't good for you. That was hard to figure out.

  • We are already condoned to think that processed foods are ok. I dont see it being unreasonable for a person to feel they need caffiene to function. They might not go out and smoke crystal meth, but need for a drink to function well is rediculous, and no doubt intended by the people marketing this garbage.

  • I drink energy drinks mainly to get a boost but it turns out that I have hard time sleeping and the next day wills miserable since I have hard time waking up (it's bad enough to wake up at a certain time). Avoid these drinks at all cost since they affect your central nervous system!!!

  • you know goldenpizza I know someone in the hospital right now for being very sick and drinking to much of the energy drinks like monster two a day or so. Well the doc said it was drying up her kidneys messed her up a little but i think she will be fine. What should she drink to take over this?

  • Thanks goldenpizza. I apologize if it sounded like I was questioning your knowledge. From the way you spoke in the video, it sounded to me like you might have a background in the medical field.

  • no worries. You may want to see that some of these drinks do put vitamins and amino acids in 'em. :-)

  • Is this guy a Medical Professional?

  • No, I'm not. You can find all the same information yourself by researching each ingredient too.

  • Wow, this is informative and eye opening. To me at least. Thanks for breaking everything down. I went from giving up coffee to becoming addicted to low carb energy drinks. The blue monster drink definitely gets me going but it also makes me really jittery and even irritable. Guess I need to just get my lazy ass back in shape. :-)

  • I have no doubt that they r bad for u, but in a way I'm hipocritical, in that what can 1 drink out if every 2 or 3 weeks do to u? At least it's better than beer.

  • Its the mindset of a quick fix solution. What happens when you cant get a drink, turn to smoking or amp on meth? Know what really energy (properly flowing chi) is and you can throw away the can. Be safe.

  • No offence but i think your being a little extreme. I dont think someone is going to amp on meth just because they cant get an energy drink. I dont see the logic in your comment, you mind explaining?

  • The premise is that energy drinks are gateways to using other uppers like amphetamines. True, a logical person will not say, the store is out of readbull (sp intentional) so I will do speed. [But then, the logical person does not need uppers (including caffeine) to be productive.]

It is the mentality and behavior that is consistently indicative of users of nrg drinks that they do turn to other sources of getting that upping result. This includes caffeine and sugar. Not beer, it is a downer.

  • thank you for explaining. I kinda get where your coming from, I know some people who use caffiene pills to get energy and then when the effect wears off they turn to speed. But im not drinking them for the effect im drinking them because i like the taest unlike beer where someone would drink them for the effect and not the taest.

  • i say: everything in moderation.

that means everything. But seeing as substances like poisen require much less to be considered 'moderation' then you need to adjust.

So lets see - energy drinks, contain no more caffeine than 2 cups of coffee, have some chemicals additives and lots of sugar. My prediction is that 'moderation' is about 4 cans per week.

I have 1, 2 at most, so i think im fine, right?

  • yeeeeeeeeees

  • im mean its ok to drink one maybe once a month or even a year. they can cause heart attacks

  • I actually drink enegry drinks because it has its own unique taste more then i'd drink it for energy, dunno about you guys?

  • I drink for both taste and energy.

  • @FRr3AkOnALEaSh EXACTLY!

  • @FRr3AkOnALEaSh You're addicted to caffeine bud

  • @hewittdj1 Actually I'm not lol, haven't had a soda nor energy drink in over a month, rarely have them anymore... the MAX amount of energy drinks I've had close to eachother is 1 a day/2 days max Vs. what some people do, which is 3-4 a DAY!

  • i been drinking energe drinks sinse 2005 i would say evry day first i start wiht monster then rockstar now amp and i also smoke ultry lights malboro im 25 years old but think i fill like 55 or 65 im weck and im gonna stop drinking this energe drinks from now on!

  • It is a Psychological effect On more parts than many because your brain controls all of your body yes it it has different effects on most people so depending on those effects should help you decide if its good or bad

  • Everybody thinks that energy drinks have a lot of sugar. Yes they do, but if you have a choice of a soda (non-diet) or a energy drink (based on sugar), then choose the energy drink. A energy drink has 60 grams of carbs per can. A soda says it has 30 grams of sugar. But it also says there is 3 servings per bottle. That means you are drinking 90 grams of sugar. That is a lot of sugar. And carbs.

  • Try the blue Rockstar, zero sugars, zero carbs, and the taste is perfect!

  • blue monsters are good too. Low carb version. Im drinking one right now! lol

  • wow, this video is more than just the title, if the information is correct, this will help a lot of people.

  • all this kinda makes want to drink them more its not so bad and it gives you energy it really does this guy admits it!

  • monster is good and it doesnt make me crash. this summer im gona stay up 4 48 hours im guna need it.

  • Great video, thanks for the great info. Can only agree that Energy Drinks are bad for you, as well as caffeine. Can't believe so many people drink it...Keep up the work!

  • omgg!!! i drink 6 rockstar punched and 1 redbull aswell i cant help it i swear im an addict i need onli two to get me extremely shaky bu i keep drinkin dem i cnt sleep help me :(:(

  • I don't get energy from energy drinks I drank 1,5 liter of Urge Intense this weekend fell asleep as normal

  • Energy drinks keep me awake for about 8-10 hours. I am still very awake after 20 minutes. The loads of caffeine keep you up.

  • yeah man, after like 3 months straight of drinking these things, you're heart beat will sometimes skip a beat, or you'll get sharp pains to the chest for a second or so... i've had quite a few friends end up in the hospital because of these, and i still havn't stopped drinking these rip its.

  • i have never crashed after any type of energy drink i dont know why people even say they crash i drink a monster energy drink in the morning as breakfast and nothing ever happens to me so i disagree with alot of the stuff

  • i was born with a birth defect where i can't obsorb fatty acids or even fat. i've been able to drink 9 monsters in one day without vomitting/exhausting/etc. Can anyone tell me why this might be and if it will hurt me?

  • Gurarana is not Ma-Huang.

Ma-Huang = ephedra/ephedrine. Which is banned. You won't find ephedrine or Ma-Huang in legal energy drinks.

  • This is true. I have been drinking energy drinks for the past 6-7 years on a daily basis! Luckily I've never had any heath problem.

But in the last 25 days I have been energy drink free, only drinking water (mostly) milk, and juice and I can actually feel a big difference. I just feel more alert, and energetic now that I haven't drank any ED's.

Waters cheaper, you don't crash afterward and its good for you :-)

  • thank you for giving me some more research and things to think about, this is a subject that interests me a lot and that I've done a lot of research on and written a lot of reports on I'm always keen to exchange opinions and build my research. =)

  • 1. I am a 16 year old Gymnastics Coach. I coach most days from 10-4 and then have my own level 6 training. I have an energy drink 1-3 times a week and this is why. (make sure you read all 10 comments before replying.)

  • Thanks for your comments although you quote from google rather puppet like. 1)There were elite athletes before NRG drinks. You dont need this to be elite. 2)dont buy CO2 3)O2 is better then CO2 was my point. 4)too much sugar stresses the pancreas 5)the body can make taurine from aminos in the liver 6)if your tired, rest. if you're chronically tired, you've got other issues that NRG drink should not solve 7)ginseng can be used daily with little side FX 8)caffeine is addictive.

  • 8b) see osteoporosis prevention 9)Guarana is known to cause chest pain, insomnia and difficult breathing 10) Yes being IN THE ZONE is tough especially since the industrial agribusiness is geared to sell low quality, empty (nutrient deficient) calories to maximize profits. BUT once you find the ZONE you will never want to go back to the "chemical enhanced" Matrix you so openheartedly defend.

  • 8 p1. yes caffeine is addictive, I agree and I don't think it should be taken regularly, but that isnt the point you made in your video.

    8 p2. I havn't looked that up get and I'll comment later.

    9. It may be known to, but if you look at the amount of guarana in an energy drink it's usually 0.05% or 0.1% and hardly enough to cause any of those symptoms.

    10. yes I agree and I hope to be able to find that zone one day =)

  • I wrote all my own comments?.. I very occasionally maybe 3 times, got quotes from other sites.

    1. yes there were elite athletes before energy drinks, but you elite athletes use them now and while you don't need them you be elite it's very helpful to be aware, for improved performance and safety.

2 & 3 I understand your point, but it came across differently.

    4. your right, but as long as you monitor that you should be fine, especially in my case since I'm exercising for up to 8 hours.

  • 2.Carbon Dioxide is in almost every drink you buy down a day, you buy carbonized water is also called Soda water which some people say is better for you then normal water.

  • 3.If your an athlete then you don't want oxygen in your stomach, that only gives you a stitch, you want oxygen in your bloodstream.

  • 4.You said yourself that sucrose and glucose are a necessity for thinking and moving through your body, If your an athlete then you want as much of that before a work out as possible so that your blood sugar levels don't drop too low. (you also forgot to comment on citric acid. It's found in Limes, Oranges, Lemons and needed also.)

  • 5.Yes taurine is used by body builders and athletes to be able to concentrate and be able to keep going, BUT it has also been proven to be a MUST for everybody,

It is a protein that our body lacks from birth, taurine is in almost every baby formula because it is necessary for normal skeletal muscle functioning and should also be taken later on in life. It has been proven that it is beneficial for bloody pressure and is used in many diets, taurine keeps our bodies moving and keeps us aware.

  • 6. The tiredness is normally a mental thing by those who feel guilty about having the drink or are trying come across like they dont get effected by it and abnormally when somebody has an energy drink and doesnt use the energy either mentally or physically. The way energy drinks work is by gathering up the energy in your body and putting giving you a fair spike that lasts for different periods of time depending on the person and the exercise theyre doing. The comes the tiredness.

  • 7. Yes, while ginseng has been known to be used for sex drives it's for a longer drive not shorter, there for making a sexual resistance not a craving for sex. The reason why ginseng is in energy drinks is because it is also known as a stress reliever therefore it can help you with studying and athletic performance stress.

  • 8 p1. In humans, caffeine is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant, having the effect of temporarily warding off drowsiness and restoring alertness. It is taken daily world wide, in fact 90% of American adults consume it everyday to stay active and alert. In saying that energy drinks are bad for you because they contain caffeine you might as well just say that coffee is completely bad and that 90% of America consume a bad substance everyday.

  • 8 p2. While it might dehydrate you body that's why you consume 400ml of Carbonated water with it and most athletes have water on hand anyways.

Ive done a fair bit of research and havnt found anywhere that says caffeine takes calcium away?.. and besides it only take blocks in take of calcium while its in effect which isnt for a long period of time and I know for certain that it does not work out the calcium in your bones and you telling kids that it broken bones is a major over exaggeration.

  • 9.If theyre exercising then they want them up! it keeps there body active and nimble so that all your muscles are loose and ready. Guarana SHOULD be taken before exercising to avoid sprains and snapped muscles it helps speed up the warm up process.

    (P.s Guarana is pronounced Gu-a-rarn-a.)

  • 9.Guarana works the same way as taurine with your heart beating faster, it keeps everything moving and yes, does help you lose weight, and yes you are also right about not wanting your heart rate going fast for too long or too fast, thats why there are warnings on the cans that say take one or sometimes two (depending on the can size) a day. Athletes heat rates dont want to be down!

  • 10.I agree more or less with you diet recommendation, but it isnt very realistic, not student will be able to follow that tough diet and the same with sleep pattens, students just sometimes need to stay up, if it comes from losing 20% on my end of year score or having a good sleep patten, Im going to make sure I get that 20 percent.

  • thank you im stop drinking energy drink now

  • but it does fuck up your sleep.

  • ive never had a crash.

  • there not good for you at all but there not realy terrible i am 15 and i have done a couple tests with monster which is my favorite here is realy what is a "crash" you have a certant amount of energy before you drink it then you drink it you have a giant boost of energy and you feel great and but most people use up all of the energy from the drink and more so when it wheres off you feel realy sleapy and tired people plz dont abuse these drink like alcohol because it can be dangerous

  • Your right that sleep is extremely important but not everyone can get a full night of sleep 7 days a week.

I run my own business, so bassically sleep doesn't exist. lol (okay maybe 3-4 hours a night)

Caffeine is a MUST. Helps me stay focus, alert and increases productivity.

So, what would you recommend I do then?

  • The simple answer is work less. Its a quality of life issue. Are you running your business or does it run you?

You are increasing your heart rate today for a shorter life span tomorrow. There is evidence that the heart has only so many beats programmed into it. If you live fast today, it may cut you short so you never enjoy the fruits of your early life. This is also a host of other aliments from chronic caffeine intact like bladder/ kidney issues and colon issues.

  • I don't see why carbonated water is bad for you - a) carbon dioxide is a problem when it enters the gas exchange (you burp it out when excess C02 goes into your stomach) and b) the hydrochloric acid in the stomach is far more acidic than carbonic acid. other than that, good vid. ;P

  • CO2 can be absorbed by the blood in the stomach, this reduces the O2 carrying capacity of the blood.

  • well one of the best athletes**

  • I would question the reports assuming that the "energy drinks" contained toxins like caffeine, guarana, methylxanthines, etc. The press release just states "energy drinks" for lunch and dinner in addition to the food for these meals. The drinks may be something he makes himself, like protein drink but with lots of carbs and he just calls it an energy drink.

If he is using the off the shelf drinks, his intense exercising may burn the chemicals down to less toxin particles. known to happen.

  • Saying energy drinks are bad for athletes.. is not true he intakes 1000of calories in energy drinks. look at Michael and he is the best athlete of all time.

  • .. what are your thoughts in this topic.. I would think you would find it interesting because it totally contradicts your predicaments

  • I would tend to agree with you but there is an exception to the rule.. and that would be Michael Phelps

  • great vid, man knows a lot lol

  • it is soo addictive because caffeine is a stiulant a drug why do u think people buy pepsi all the time because it is a stimulant with caffeine energy are basically he same thing

  • 3 legal drugs any adult can buy: nicotine, alcohol and caffeine.

  • ok well the bigger your heart is the stronger it is so you dont want a small heart, and with increased heart rate you burn more calories. DRINK THEM IS SMALL QUANTITIES NOT AN EVERYDAY THING

  • your right i only have one every friday

  • i just wanna no if ur fat and u drink energy drinks can u have a heart attack?

  • Being fat puts one at risk for diabetes depending on how much they weigh. Too much consumption of energy drinks can put you at risk for heart attack no matter what age you are. There are mounds of caffeine and herbal supplements contained in them which speed up one's adrenaline. So yes, I'd say it's not safe, and I know because I've been addicted to them for over 2 years and I am wanting to quit the habit myself.

  • Everyone's body is different and short term effects can mask or yield different long term effects. It sound like you are self-medicating (using "caffeine, sugar, guarana, etc to boost your mood). Maybe you should try detoxing and cleansing your body so it works more efficiently and then you dont need energy boosting?

  • Well I don't drink them 4 a boost I just really like how they taste. What is your opinion on how they taste? Also what do you mean self medicating?

  • There's a term that explains when a factory worker accepts the poisonous smell of the factory as normal. But those smells dont exist in nature. Why do people think that the smell of new sneakers, a new car or markers is safe or natural? In analogy, your taste buds have forgotten how flavorful fresh blueberries, kiwis, oranges and bananas are. Those nrg drinks are just a few chemically created flavors, but real flavors (with real textures) from real fruits have many layers to the palate.

  • I'm using a negative connotation of the phrase self-medicating.When someone feels one way (tired, anxious, sad, happy)and uses an outside source (physiological and physical altering substances including food, drugs alcohol, smoke, etc)to feel another way, that is self medicating. When you're hungry and you eat, you are solving the problem of hunger. When you're tired and you take speed (a drug), you are not solving the problem of needed rest. Many people refuse to follow their natural compass

  • i swear that when iam sick and drink mountain dew and their related drinks i feel better

  • I'm learning new health tips on youtube more and more every day, thanks to people like you, keep up the good work.

  • Thanks. Once you seen how low quality and even poisonous industrialized food is, you'll want to eat a natural as possible.

  • Its what I can do to help people know the misrepresentations of these drinks.

  • This was very very informative. You broke it down and explained it very clearly. I linked it to all my friends who constantly chug this junk and they are definitely going to cut down now. Thank you!!

  • so is it bad that I have had one energy drink a day for 3 months? I am just an average college student and Its just a habit. Now take it I don't drink alcohol or smoke.

  • I honestly prefer sports drinks like powerades gatorades and then Arizona iced tea

energy drinks make me sleepy while making me agitated also, although i do like them once in a while I honestly prefer not to have them

  • We've all been Lied to about Protein !

Check out the video here titled, PROTEIN MYTH

its by World Class Vegan Triathlete , Tim Van Orden. His Story is Remarkable

It will totally change the way you think about Protein, i can guarantee you that !!! The Standard Views On protein are completely False

  • Lol at Ginseng part

  • Goldenpizza; Ok i drink AMP i know is mostly sugar and it only has 71mg of caffeine per serving making a 16 fl oz 142 mg of caffeine. I only take an energy drink per day in finalz week(5 days in a row every 21/2 months). is it okay..? I do not feel i am addicted to it or anything. is 140mg a good amount to take ...

Also I hear many people combining energy drinks like redbull with vodka..? is in it reallly bad for you..are there any risks( heart attack?) to it.?

  • sounds like you are self medicating, that is you are using a known physiological drug to change your mood. Everything in life has consequences, both positive and negative.

Again, caffeine is known to remove iron from the body and inhibit calcium absorption. You can research each ingredient to see its effect. Quantity is not always an issue. In perspective, it only takes a small amount of poison to kill you.

Also, in the metal can there is residual lubricants, benzenes and wood alcohols.

  • Energy drinks honestly put me to sleep. They don't make me energetic or anything at all.

  • I would say a good alternative to energy drink would be to have Propel. Still, has some extra things you don't need but for the most part doesn't have all the things energy drinks do in them. I have been drinking Propel for some time now instead of energy drinks. I highly recommend drinking Propel.

  • I only drink energy drinks because they come in flavors normal drinks don't have. I like the taste of Red Bull and other energy drinks.

  • its not that bad holy crap but its not worth it its to expincive just have a arizonia fruit juice non energy product am i right????

  • Remember no ingredient is 100% pure. There are many chemical byproducts attached to the ingredient by way of its extraction and isolation. Everything from heavy metals to pesticides to toxic chemicals. Just research the FDA guidelines for maximum amounts of poisons allowed in produced foods. All these toxins overtax the body's ability to eliminate the toxins/dioxins and maintain a high immunity to bacteria and viruses.

  • Ugh he didn't say "BIG" but as an add on to the meal and snacks, try not to have big meals. 3 good (not big) meals and many snacks. Big meals slow down your metabalism.

  • Energy Drinks don't make me energized at all.

  • not even a little increase in "alertness/nervousness"?

  • Nope. At least, not 'Red Bull' or 'Crunk Juice'. I don;t know is 'Gatorade' counts, but that doesn't give me energy either, it just makes me take more trips to the bathroom.

  • Interesting.

Gatorade is not an energy drink, it is an electrolyte (salts and minerals) replacement with sugar.

  • i kind of passed out when i drank a couple. almost had a seizure

  • Thanks alot. I found your video very informative.

  • they are so bad for you glutoronatona or somthing forgot how you spell it the goverment used on vietnam troops its in red ball not good for you at all totatlly agree with you man

  • when you were going through the list of energy drinks, i didn't notice lucozade hydro active on the list. Is this because it has the same effect, dispite a different mix of ingredients or a different factor? Anywayz, gd video AND has the science know-how to back it, well dun!

  • I only listed monster stuff b/c I could find the ingredients on the web. Anything that is going to increase your heart rate is not good for you over the long haul.

  • I guess I misspoke there. What I should have said was if there is any air in your stomach, Oxygen would be the preferred gas b/c then your blood could use it. Thanks for the ? But since oxygen is an oxidizer, (it combines with things easily) you really dont want any gas in your stomach, this goes into why ppl with chronic belching have a medical condition.

  • This made a lot of sense.

One thing, at about 01:17 you said "if you're an athlete, you want oxygen in your stomach". Why?
