  • Jim McCarty and John Hawken were in Toronto playing recently. I am SO sorry I missed the gig. John Hawken is a true gentleman, and talented as all getout. 'Hope he's in the best of health and comes back again....

  • Thank you for posting such a wonderful piece of music. This is by far a beautiful piece of music and one of the most rare gems that has grown on me since hearing it. Thank you for posting this treasure. Keith Relf certainly has made his mark in music history. He is a truly wonderful talent that has been missed by many of us. He has the voice of and angel.

  • DW's are made just down the street from me in Oxnard, CA.. I live in Ventura, CA. Love your work Jim! My brothers band opened for you and The Yardbirds around 66-67@ Greens pavilion on Devil's Lake in Irish Hills, Michigan. Their manager got beat up for not tucking in his shirt tail when moving The Rationals equipment.

  • There's something almost prophetic to this song and the others he was working on before his death.

  • To leave the earth doing something you love is a blessing.

  • Thanks for posting, never heard this, amazing...one artist of many that is greatly missed !!!

  • such a talent and always in my heart

Unbelievable lp. Released around '75 I believe.

  • Agreed! Search "Armageddon - Silver Tightrope" to hear Keith Relf truly sing like an angel... the song has a "Stairway To Heaven" feel about it. The most amazing vocals he ever put on vinyl!

  • DW Drums are my favourite!...

  • Did they make DW back then?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks, that is good information to have. I looked the album up but it is still quite pricey. I will keep an eye on it for possible future purchase. I still need to check my vinyl. I just may own one of these rare albums. I should buy the turntable that converts them to MP3 files. I still have tons of vinyl in near mint condition.

  • The more I hear this song the more I like it. I hope it is on one of the albums I just ordered. Beautiful blend of their voices.

  • How can one find this particular song? I don't recall it on any of my albums. I never heard it before. Sad to think that Keith is no longer with us. They were just amazing together.

  • Hi artj, thanks for your nice comments! ;-)

You can find this song (and other rare "nuggets") on the album: Renaissance "Live and Direct" which can easily be find on Amazon!

  • this is ace. I'm missing Keith, man

    thanx for posting this!

    nice tune

  • Hey JimMccarty&Co, do you think you could put up "Only the Black Rose" - I heard it on Little Games & more and it's such a lovely song!!

  • It IS a good song!... I will do it just after I've uploaded the whole of the Stairway gig, ok?... ;-)

  • Sure, thanks a lot! Can't wait to see it.

  • class

  • OMG this is SOOOO BEAUTIFUL, Keith was such a talented and lovely person!

  • Oh, God, I'm in love.

  • Keith Relf is such a talented man and very, very handsome.... So I know what you mean...

  • My last comment was a reply to magdoos....

    I know what you mean....

  • I love this song and really, really like the pictures of Keith Relf.... He had so many talents from his voice to playing the harmonica... He is surely missed by all....

  • Thanks, jka!

You forgot to mention that he was also a great songcrafter! ;-D

Still working on this tribute I've promised I would dedicate to you, that is: when I've got some time off... but I'm so busy, and the end of the year is approaching fast! :-(

    Truly sorry about the delay!

  • Hey jka4311, have ordered a pot of flowers for Xmas for the grave of our romantic, charming hero,Keith Relf, through Interflora. They will actually send me a picture of how they look like!

  • You are so sweet for ordering flowers. I am so glad that for the holidays his grave will have flowers from the heart on it. Hopefully his family will do the same... I am sure the flowers will be gorgeous.. May you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.... Thank You Again for doing such a sweet thing....

  • 68generation,

you too are a charming romantic, I hope your holidays were filled with happiness!

  • Thanks bayhowdy233! Good luck for the new year to you too!

  • Went to see Keith's grave in Richmond cemetery last week and was literally schocked. There wasn't a tombstone according to the family's wishes, also no flowers but an old dried-up rose bush twig with weeds around it, so I decided to go to a local shop and buy him a nice flowerpot with heather and hyacinths...I think he deserves this and much more!!

  • You did a very good thing!... Thank you so much!!!

  • Perhaps if there were some kind of recognizable mark people would go there more often, I mean I am not criticizing his family's choice, but I know people like myself, found it hard to locate his grave. I'll probably send more flowers through Interflora as I live abroad & was in London for work. I had a day off so I went on this pilgrimage to see where it all began. I was amazed that the people in Richmond had never heard ofthe Yardbirds!

  • I'm wondering if he just didn't want any headstone on his grave, and mentioned it to someone sometime before his death?

Or the family/friends/Keith himself heard about what happened to Jim Morrison's grave after he died. People turned it into a shrine and strewed bottles and junk all over it. Maybe he just didn't want that. Who knows? I wouldn't blame him/them for that!

Or simply his own beliefs? Could be a combination a few or all of all these. I wonder if his family/friends had been asked?

  • At the cemetery they told me his family was afraid of his grave being damaged and abused of and I respect this. But...after all these years? It might well be his own beliefs, but I found it sad.

  • You are right, he does deserve much more. If I lived nearby, I too would put a beautiful pot of flowers by his grave, perhaps some lilies and fresh roses.

He was a very talented man. He was a wonderful singer, excellent harmonica player, and a superb song writer. I am just sorry that he is not with us today.

He left a remarkable legacy of excellent quality music.

    Keith you are wonderful!!

  • Amen to all that. Never forgotten while we remember him.

  • You did a wonderful thing... It makes me sad to know that his grave had no flowers or tombstone... He certainly deserves much more... I would think that someone in his family would make sure his grave was well maintained and hopefully his family puts flowers on it... Thank you again for doing such a wonderful thing....

  • I do think that the gesture of bringing the flowers was so nice and thoughtful! I'm sure they must have appreciated it! It appears that it was true that the family and friends were concerned about what would happen with a tombstone. I also was thinking that if a tombstone was there, it might've been damaged at some point, and they had to get it repaired, or something.

But more than likely, it was as you said in your message to me, that the family was concerned about it getting damaged!

  • @68generation, just excellent! People like Keith who gave us so much need to be remembered. Thanks

  • another great song from keith relf and jane relf.keep up the good work.you allways come up with the goods snus.

  • beautiful.... touching song.... thank you

  • I have let 'the fans' know about this video over on my Yardbirds Forum.

  • Thanks a lot, it's greatly appreciated!...;-)

  • Great song love the picture of Keith Relf what a cutie....

  • To me this song is quite a discovery since I didn't know about Renaissance.

It's a simple but wonderful tune with Keith and Jane Relf singing!! I adore it and also the picture of Keith when he poses with the group with his blond hair shining and a bit fluffy!! He was such a fine, gentle-mannered guy. I really thank you so much JimMcCarty&Co for answering my request!!
