I remember this game like it was yesterday. I was sitting in the bottom right of the Sir John Hall stand. We laughed at the fat linesman. We went berserk when Les Ferdinand scored, Thompson scored and when Shearer banged in the penalty.
I think the cameras missed Gascoigne telling the Ref to fuck off in a jokey manner and then hugging him.
So England have had their revanche against us after all :). I'd love to see England play Germany in next year's world cup! Under Capello England have become a great team again. RIP Sir Bobby Robson
Lovely to see so many England greats show up. especially David Platt. It´s a shame Gary Lineker, Stuart Pearce, and Chris Waddle couldn´t have shown up for the day though.
I went to this match, it was my first ever football match, and if I may say so, what a one for my first, I was one of the last members of the public to see sir bobby, not a very happy thought I admit, but an honor. I still have the program and the ticket, I even kept the wrapper for my meat pie lol!
Rest In Peace Sir Bobby Robson...He´s trained in portugal my club F.C.Porto,where he´s won 2 championship,1 portuguese cup and went to 1 semi final of the champions league...Sad lost!!! Rest In Peace we in portugal and principal in oporto we love you and we loved the work you have done here in F.C.Porto!!! R.I.P Great Gentleman!
Bobby. You need managed my team and been one of the many managers for my country. However you are in a league of your own when it came to conducting yourself in the correct manner. You love for the game is unmatched. There is nobody more loved in the game than you. Bobby you'll be missed.
I dont think it matter's what football team you support, im a Villa fan, and was upset to hear of the passing of Sir Bobby, we have no more gents in football now, with the exeption of Sir Alex and Martin Oneil... Bobby was a true gent, and football has suffered a huge loss.
R.I.P Bobby Robson, u and cloughie can talk about how football has went down the pan the last few years..
even tho the average german side was 41 shearer was on fire his pace was pretty amaizing since he retired 3 years ago glad he got a goal he got all 3 set pieces...great freekick from thompson
That clip of Sir Bobby makes me want to cry at how fragile he looked but also how happy he looked!

I love how seriously the Germans took this game - you can see it on their faces. Glad they got merked, but obviously 90 was the one that counted!

By the way, a lot of German players in this team were actually not in the 1990 Germany squad. But anyways, who cares? It was a fun match

It looks likely to get it's first public airing at St James Park before the Reading match on Aug 15.

Great, Great, Sir Bobby Robson... he coached my club Sporting.
I'm sad, but happy he received this homage while still alive.
Here from Portugal, your posture as a human being and as great coach will be very missed. I will never forget him.
