I am new at this.... maybe you can walk me through it?? and also let me know if there is anything you like to try and can't get it in Taiwan. I am sure there is not that many.... they have everything there!! I <3 Taipei.

  • i love those chinese eggs. i was always curious how to make them and now i know! thanks cathy. im so gonna try sometime soon! :)

  • i'm sure all your subbies who speak mandarin feel special, lol! your chinese is so good...living in the states, we speak at home, but i'm always hesitant to speak in front of native speakers... moving on.. i love eggs period, so this video was super fun for me :) thx.

  • @fashionismycrush haha no la my chinese is horrible. I learnt it about 3 years ago....haha so def. not native speaker. THanks for watching!

  • looks amazing... makes me want to try to make it... is regular black tea ok to use?

  • @malinda7676 yes yes any tea is good..but not green tea... IMO ;-p

  • What do these taste like!? Interesting!

  • @floralundies it tastes spicy and salty

  • my bf makes it at home too because he complains the ones at T&T are crap

    so hungry now....

  • @nylonbits hehe did u make some?

  • @akareee oh we have hot dogs too..haha we have everything in 7-11 haha

  • i miss " cha ye dan".... ho chiak!

  • @nlngstar hehe yup

  • ohhh yummy i love them!!

  • I don't like Chinese food at all, but it was enjoyable to watch and listen to your detached voice-over. What next? Those yummy thousand year old eggs?

  • I LOVE THIS! my grandpa was complaining that the 7-11 tea eggs weren't good either, so he made a huge batch when I went to visit him in Taiwan. I can't wait to wow my family with this! :) thanks for this cathy!

  • omg!! I <3 these!!

  • Too funny! I make these for my Halloween party every year because after you peel them they look web like. I make a sign that says "rotten eggs" and fill them just like deviled eggs :) People freak out, but they taste delish!

    xoxo,

  • So I assumed they used a huge load of herbs ^_~

  • Oh wow! Are those ALL the ingredients?

They taste SUPER herb-ally here sometimes...Hhmmm...

  • @suelynn76 yeah sometimes I add cinnamon and orange peel. BUT this is the ghetto-er version and quick version. ;-)

  • @ChefCaffy Ooohhh...Cinnamon and orange peel don't sound too bad. I've eaten some with INTENSE medicinal herbal "aroma" LOL

  • @suelynn76 lol I kinda wanna try it with a bah kut teh satchet..hahaha innovative? haha? good?

  • @ChefCaffy

OMG, definitely! That would be very similar to the version I tried - I could literally smell the tea eggs a mile away!

  • Yummy delicious

  • lol im eating hard boiled eggs right now

  • Thanks God for subtitles LOL. Interesting recipe though.

  • @Sassymarkrep hehe thanks for watching. IT's very traditional ;-)

and chinese is such a cool language, I wanna learn it :) xox

  • looks nice i might try this out!

  • Cathy, do you keep the heat on low for the entire 1.5 hour cooking time? Should the water ever reach boiling level? thanks!

  • Finally!! I've actually been wanting to make these! Great tutorial!!

  • I'm so glad that you used English Breakfast Tea bags!!! Since coming to the UK, I've been wanting to make tea eggs but haven't been able to get my hands on loose leaf Jasmine tea (that's what my parents use)! Thanks so much. BTW, loved the Chinese, you speak it really well, make more videos in Chinese!!!! :)

  • @stylebyconnie haha thanks connie..I rarely speak CHinese (weird I live in Taipei) so haha i guess it's good for me to practice. I speak English with my family and friends, and French for work (sometimes) I like to use English Breakfast cuz...since living in Taiwan Oolong tea is super awesome here and I can't fathom putting the tea to make tea eggs. Hahah... I'm sure Jasmine tea is also nice but green tea is very astringent. I like a fully fermented tea to make this. ;-)

  • @jalapena2007 have fun! this is super simple. it usually tastes better after a few days.

  • Please don't eat so many eggs, it will give you uncontrollable gas :-(

  • @suripopje you speak from experience? lol

  • @ChefCaffy Sssshhttt!!! Don't tell anybody !!

  • I've never even heard of these....very interesting! xo
