You might be right in that we won't need the standard units of weight anymore Professor, but I have serious doubts as to whether society would be willing to change their units of measurement every time Science comes up with a slightly better more 'accurate' way of measuring things.

I like the idea of defining mass with an electrical current (I think it was the mass that could be accelerated by a given electromotive force a a certain rate) that I saw on a late-night science show. I was working on something at the time and didn't get to give it all the attention it deserved, but I thought that it was a pretty cool idea.
