@jumper738 Haha, and you're one to talk. After looking at your Bruno Mars, Eminem, and unfunny "shit song" playlist, it's time for you to come out of the closet if you haven't already.
i've lost a lot of interest in nascar lately, but the one thing that remains exciting is restrictor plate racing. there is nothing...and i mean NOTHING...more exhilerating than the last 10 or 20 laps of a daytona/talladega race.
@normalboy64 hey dude get back into it the racings getting exciting again they took away the wing and let them have at it and it seemed like every week races were being decided by late race passes
@racing202 I'm not really sure what Jamie was thinking. His spotter said clear by 3 (car lengths) then he went high and then shot down. I think either way he was a sitting duck, he had too big of a lead and Harvick could have shot down by yellow line if McMurray held his line.
i respect nascar. but i think because all you do is turn left, and drive in ovals for about 200 laps. but in reality, one small bump to another car, causes cars sliding everywhere
Johnson should have never gone to the high side, I guess he thought it was his only chance to win, unfortunately he cant drive smartly at Daytona anymore
This sucks. I wish Jamie would've won this damn race. Maybe, if he would've won, he may not be having all this bad luck. Plus, I hate that damn Harvick.
I don't think it was totally his fault though. He went to the outside because McMurray got too far ahead of the pack and was a sitting duck in front of the entire field. If Jimmie doesn't go up, he either slows down and risks getting jacked up from behind resulting in Jimmie wrecking anyways, or he slows down and just throws the victory away. Better to wreck trying to win than to just lie down right?
I'm not excusing Jimmie from wrongdoing. I admit he had a part in it, but I just don't think you can pin this wreck on one single driver. It was a combination of Jimmie getting a run, McMurray getting shuffled back, and Bowyer shifting low.
i fuckin hate how when a caution comes out on the last lap they call the race right there. They need to race to the fuckin line!!!!!!!! instead of a popup oh thats it right there folks! nascar has changed so much each year and there are still drivers trying to get used to that stupid CAR OF TOMMORROW.
yea..tht prolly wood have happened to Dale Jarrett in NH (the race that inspired freezing the field) I agree with freezing the field....but i say all races must finish under the green
and btw...wasnt there a rule that the Bud Shootout HAD to end under the green flag or was tht the Allstar showdown at Lowe's (i thought it was both but im probably wrong)
nascarNEWS14: jm1922, what if johnson was dead? would u want them to drive back to the line not knowing Johnson is dead?.....Think about the drivers in the crash.
^^^^^^^^ why would you think of something so negative like that....im old school i miss the days when the race acctually ended under the green and not follow the leader caution .....i've witnessed 3 fatalities so I care about driver safety as much as you do
It really has nothing to do with that. The GWC rule came about for instances were on the last lap cars would wreck on the front stretch or turn 1. if they raced back, they would be going full speed by the time they got around, and the track might not have been clear.
If the Daytona 500 is anywhere near as good as the shootout, it will go down as one of the best all time. The COT isn't perfect but it sure provided for a heck of race. This is the kind of race NASCAR needs, loads of passing and tons of action.
It used to be the guys would complain about how hard it is to pass, but Jeff Gordon went from the back to the front at least three times. Perfect example of how far the COT has come. Lets hope this is the start to an exciting year!
Yeah I agree, im pretty mad that they called it so quickly. I dont think there is a person out there that would mind waiting to finish it that night or Monday afternoon. The Daytona 500 should always be 500 miles, not 380.
Gordon shouldn't have won, because he didn't deserve the win. Nobody deserves the win, you have to earn it, and Harvick earned it so quit bitching saying "Gordon should've won" or "Gordon deserved that win". I like Gordon but nobody deserves to win, they earn it.
Well not really, it does resemble it a lot. But Jimmie luckily hit at an angle, Sr. hit head on. He would have hit at an angle and most likely would have survived but he caught Schrader going up toward the wall and that made him hit head on.
Jimmie probably would have been seriously injured if not killed if he would've hit like Dale did and luckily he didn't.
yeah but with the HANS device and SAFER barriers the crash really wasnt that bad. i dont think he was going as fast either running in an unstable pack like that
No stupid. There were originally six Chevrolets, six Dodges, six Fords, and six Toyotas, but NASCAR also added a 'wild card' driver from each manufacturer making seven drivers for each manufacturer.
Denny hamlin did a good job pushing Gordon and Kevin Harvick. I still cant decide what would of been a better finish no crash or crash cause Harvick had a huge lead and Mcmurray would of got drafting help.
Sheesh...is Jeff Gordon the luckiest guy of the night or what!? Love the COT...very safe. Elliot Sadler stayed on all 4 wheels thanks to the roof flaps too. And I have to say...I LOVE DIGGER! darn gopher is adorable
Its sad that NASCAR didn't have these improvements back in 2001. We would still have Sr around. Jiimmy Johnson would have not walked away from that if it had not been fro the Dale Earnhardt Sr Crash.

Vote me up if you believe that on the last lap, the yellow flag "race back to the line" rule should be in use.
