Civil engineering is the most favorite engineering branch of mine. I have applied for this branch for my higher studies & i am sure that i will do well in it , henceforth having a good future.
This guy has no clue what he is talking about. The A/E team is headed up by an architect and civil engineers is just a sub-consultant hired by the A/E firm. Civil Engineering firms rarely are in control of building projects. Architects usually head up the team and during construction a General Contractor or Construction Manager control the construction. Civil engineers and Structural Engineers only get a tiny percentage of the total project costs. Like 5% or less of the total project cost.
I am currently almost 16 years old. Since i was 4-5, I have always wanted to be an engineer. More specificly, a civil engineer (since I was about 9). Now, I am sure that this job is for me :)
I really like this video. I've done 3 years of my civil engineering degree in Melbourne and it's really hard sometimes to find the excitement, the light at the end of the tunnel, with a video like this one, it's easy to appreciate the stuff that civil engineers do.
I'm almost done my degree in Civil Engineering. It's easy to forget how incredible and beautiful a concept it really is - so easy to become lost in little things. This video really got me motivated - thanks! :)
@Ps1locyb1n hey had the same experience at my recent vacation work where the small repetitive tasks got to me, but this video shows you the possibilities for a long well planned career to do some amazing stuff.
@NeoQuello on average for a civil engineer is about $75 000. I have friends who have just recently graduated from university and are making 60K/70K starting.
@MasterThief1324 in a very minor way. that is chiefly attributed to an architect, or depending on local laws, a "custom home builder" who is just really a contractor. A civil might play a role in how drainage and grading are completed but most assured, not the design. thats not to say you cant design as a civil, but thats a whole other story.
So the main difference between civil engineering and architecture is that architecture focuses mainly on the creative aspects while civil engineering focuses on the practical aspects? Do I have this right?
Then what does architectural engineering consist of?
wow. im impressed. excellent. civil engineering is the oldest of all, starting right from civilisation in egypt, etc.. it is no wonder a great profession and civil engineers always take their pride.
@addieroxrev09 you are aware that its not called civil because egypt was the first civilisation right? egypt was not the first civilisation either. engineering was originally only a military position, then civil engineers were required . civil means of or for the citizens.
Civil engineers are so underpaid
