Wow! Didn't know that STR used V10 in 2006 until today! No wonder when i played F1 06 on PSP, the acceleration and power was so much different from other cars. E.g. In the GAME, at monaco, a toro rosso reaches 6th gear at the end of the pit straight, but a mclaren or others reaches only 5th gear.
jesus mate you never noticed or thought that, "hey this motor doesn't sound like the rest. It sounds a little cut off" lol I know I'm flying through the gears but the car aint going anywhere xD .
Jenson Button is a good racer...juz that his car is not power enough when he is still in Honda...now when his car is replace with mercedes engine...he win almost every race....cant wait for dis coming race at Silverstone...
it wasnt.. the ferrari engine had the highest top speeds in most of the races if i remember correctly, honda did gain alot of power in the suzuka race where they used an engine designed perfectly for that race. they kept saying they had reaced 1000bhp but that was never proven i think
Now the Force Indias have the highest top speed among the 2009 cars, if you havent notice. No offence, but these top speed in 2009 are still quite slow..
@JoshuaKill not sure about that. and even of honda had the most powerful v10 ( which i dont think it was), their 2005 engine would have been more powerful than the 2004 as teams spent millions on exotic materials to continuously make their engines rev higher and more powerful. generally 2005 saw more powerful engines than the previous year.
If the Honda V10 was reincarnated in F1. I bet it could do some serious points and pole positions or even win races like what button did in hungary 06'. Current V8 Honda F1 still struggling. I believe the Honda Team was out, and the new owner ross brawn takes over, But still, the powerplant supplier is Honda.
Brawn GP is not powered by honda, they are using mercedes engines, actually the whole drivetrain is mercedes benz, the same as the Mclaren-Mercedes and Force India.
ok, thanks for the correction man, ive read it in wikipedia. your'e right, Mercedes powers the brawn GP. my last news on brawn GP is that they are still using Honda engines, I saw it in a website. I think they're wrong. Thanks.
Button did not have a V10 in '06. All cars were limited to V8 engines from the year 2006. 2005 was the last year that V10 engines were used in Formula One.
Yes well that was air restricted and rev limited because they did not have enough funds to start developing a new V8 engine in 2006 so the FIA granted them permission to use a Cosworth V10 instead.
Yeah, that was because they did not have the funds for a V8, so they had to stick with the V10. It's already been said. It was rev limited to about 16k rpm and was air restricted. In 2006 Toro Rosso used a V10 supplied by Minardi. This concession had been granted to assist less well funded teams by avoiding the cost of sourcing a new supply of V8 engines as required by the 2006 regulations.
Oh I don't know about Sauber being a bad team they were really quick cars when they want to be. In 2004 Mass a had a lot of Points Finishes and At China this grand prix he stuck it on 4th place and finished like 7th so not all thats bad
I never said TC, I just said traction, i.e. a corner which involves getting good traction out of it. Yeah, Jense and Fisichella should in theory benefit from a lack of TC next year.
