You saw it on the dealership floor? Where do you live? I've been on a waiting list since early May and I can't find one, New or Used, ANYWHERE here in MD. It sucks. I was on a waiting list for 4 months when I tried getting one in 2008. Kawasaki is KILLING me. Nice bike though...I'm jealous.
@ncpanther122 I live in Tucson Arizona... the bike was one of the last 3 350's they had, and they told me that they wouldn't be able to get new ones for awhile either.

How much was your equipment (Helmet, jacket, gloves etc)
How old are you?
Did you take lessons?
How much is your insurance?
Any costly mechanical issues with the bike?
Should someone buy this bike new or used?
Would you recommend it to a first time rider?
If you could answer these I'd really appreciate it as I'm looking into buying one of these bikes for my first one.

@ForeverLethal
All my gear came to around $300, although you could easily spend $1,000+ for the higher end stuff.
I'm 18
Yes, I took a 3 day classroom+riding safety course that gave me a pass so I didn't have to take the MVD tests
Insurance is $300 a year for the bare minimum coverage, although prices vary depending on the company.
I haven't run into any maintenance issues yet, and in general a motorcycle is much cheaper to repair than a car.

I would recommend buying it used, but it might take a little digging to find one. These bikes are very popular.
I would definitely recommend it, so far the ride has been very smooth and stable, and the clutch is very forgiving.
Good luck on getting one of these man!

@Chibity The bike itself is $4,000 new, but with dealership fees and the 5 year extended warranty the total cost came to around $5,800.
Pow.
