  • I loved Final Fantasy IV (although at that time it was called II, in the US). The story was incredible and I cared about so many characters - I even cared about those silly twins who had probably the first heartbreaking twist in the game. There are some huge WTF moments in the game which are just unparalleled, and such emotional trauma too.

  • I never had as much interest in the game after this because the next FF game started the airship, where you had 50 characters going "Please pick me! Please pick me!" and you kind of feel guilty about some loser characters who sit around on the airship the whole time because they aren't worth using. I much preferred the earlier version where characters would leave - even if it was falling down a hole or whatever - and you'd have a solid 5.

  • My favorites are vii, xiii, and x in no specific order

  • 10. Final Fantasy II

    9. Final Fantasy XIII-2

    8. Final Fantasy XII

    7. Final Fantasy

    6. Final Fantasy V

    5. Final Fantasy VIII

    4. Final Fantasy IX

    3. Final Fantasy VI

    2. Final Fantasy IV

    1. Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy X

  • I'm sorry to say this but again it is your opinion, but I hear nine is absolute garbage, but if that is what you like than I'm happy to hear that because you didn't waste your money,

  • @NOTcoolBUTTERS Really? FF9 is considered the best final fantasy by many fans. The creator has even stated that it is his personal favorite. It is considered the overlooked gem of the series as it was released quite late in the PS1's life cycle. The game does a great job blending what made the old FFs great and the new ones.

  • @TriforceRich Meh well I'm glad you liked it, But my big brother was telling me how the story is veeery weird though and my other friend and his brother haaated it, but again I'm glad you enjoyed it, but i have never played ff9 in my life, soo i can't really judge...

  • @TriforceRich oh and also the creator thinks that's his fav which is really good, but right now ff7 is one of theee best ff games out there, it had it's own anime, it had several games made, also had it's own movie, appearently they are going to remake it for xbox now, supposedly it's going to be sooo much better, except i am quite worried that it might be ruined because it was already an amazing game out of all the games, not to mention they also had a festival.

  • What did you dislike about Final Fantasy VII?

  • @ChibiVen Oh now that's a good question.... I hear that's one of the best ones made...

  • my top 5 imo:

    #1: FF5

    #2: FF8

#3: FF3 (nes and ds versions both)

#4: FF4 (snes and ds versions)

    #5: FF9

  • People are probably going to rage at me but, Final Fantasy 8 is my favorite. I liked the Characters the most but I do get what you were saying about the story dropping after disc one. At least you didn't say "This game fucking sucks its the worst game ever everything about it sucks" like some people with games. You pointed out what you thought was good about it and what you thought was bad and I like that. FF6 and 9 are 2nd and third on my list followed by 7 and 5. 6 was amazing.

  • @SoulOfTheSky If I don't like something I will give a reason. Yeah, I don't like it when people just say one word or a few words to justify hating or disliking something. FF6 was and is an amazing game. I mean it really would have been my favorite final fantasy if I didn't feel the game dropped in quality after "that big changing moment".

If FFVIII kept its beginning themes and style throughout the game and didn't feel the need to add unnecessary twists I feel it could have had a great story.

  • I'm surprised that a lot like some of the other games than ff7

Considering the fact that final fantasy 7 is one of THEE best FF7 games out there

not to mention the story lines are very long and it talks about the past, which was veeeery long and the future called advent children, which led to the movie

and it had that crisis core anime.

  • @NOTcoolBUTTERS Last Order was the name of the anime. Crisis Core was the PSP game that revolved around Zack.

  • Just like you, Final Fantasy X was the first Final Fantasy I've ever played. Amazing game. I was 7 when I got it. Now I'm 16.

  • worst to best (imo): ff8 ff10-2 ff13 ff2 ff3 ff1 ff5 ff12 (yes i actually liked ff12) ff7 ff10 ff9 ff6 ff4

  • my worst to best: FF13 FF2 FF8 FF3 FF12 FF1 FF5 FF7 FF6 FF9 FF4 FF10
  • It's SO HARD to pick one's favorite final fantasy! It's like choosing which child is your favorite! =O

That being said, VI and VII are virtually a tie for #1

  • 10 is good, but I think the only real competition for the best is either 6 or 7...maybe 4. I think the answer to the 6 or 7 debate really just comes down to if your over 25 6 is the best, if under 25 7 is the best.

  • @frozenflame5858 hey im 14 and 6 is better than 7. better characters, story, music and graphics (yer i prefer the old shool graphics coz final fantasy is cool like that). 7 does have a good story and music aswell but imo 6 is just a better game :)

  • if you were to put any of the spinoffs into this list, which ones go where? I'd personally have tactics in my top 5

  • A nice and fair runthough of the series, good job :)

Funnily enough VIII has always been one of my favourites, while it does have flaws and THAT orphanage scene is a monstrosity I generally did like the focus on the love story and still to this day feel it has one of the best art directions within any game.

I recently tired IV, but overall didn't enjoy it, the battle system was erratic and a lot of the new characters you got were useless but I guess you cannot deny the storyline and emotion.

  • my favorite ff game is ff4

  • I tell you what I have been playing rpg's for over 20 years I've played all the final fantasy's and enjoyed most of them. With the exception of 8, 11, and 13. so coming from someone who has played from the original to the recent I must say 10 may have number 1 for 2 distinct reasons. 1 the story line is about as good as 7. and 2 the music was absolutely fantastic. *especially the intro song.* This was a well made video and I like that people on here are not acting like little kids fighting.

  • Personally its a tie for me between 4(which i had as ff2 on snes when it first came out) and 7, mainly for the fact is ff4 was the first one i played when i was about 7yrs old and 7 had the best magic system and powerful storyline. I can see where you are comming from with 10 because i thought it was pretty badass too, and blitzball was awesome. I really didnt care for 8 either but i did like the card game in it. And i hate 13... mainly because of the battle system, but the graphics were good

  • Watch the spoony reviews on FF8 and FF10. I like(don't love) FF8 for my own reasons, but most things spoony says are true even for a fan. So you can watch his videos and probably rethink your choice.

  • I'm probably the only person in the entire world who thinks Final Fantasy ii is the best

  • Great video man. My favorite Final Fantasy will always be FF4. Such a great game, good times. ^>^

  • Loved 10, it's tied for first with 7. 8 was bleh! The cards and blitzball are FF lows for me.

Oh, and I thought 12 was fun, once I got over the shock of the battle system. It's better than the impossible-to-dodge random fights and carpal tunnel from hitting X repeatedly, though.

Why can't they make a difficult final boss?!

  • Don't worry...FFX is my favorite and I disliked FFVIII

And kudos for ranking FFX over VII!

  • Oh, and not to rip on FF7 too much, but the other big pitfall was that the characters didn't have any personality in-battle since the only things that set each character apart were their limit breaks, which are not nearly frequent enough to make a difference. Because you can swap materia out instantly, you really just have seven or so empty shells rather than characters who show their personality in battle (FF10, FF6)

  • @BenRig811 I would actually agree with you for the most part there. I have been playing some White Knight Chronicles and it is absolutely stupid how every character can be turned into anything. I also enjoy unique characters, but the thing is it allows you to play your favorite characters and does not force you to take X healer Y Tank.

In many newer rpgs party doesn't matter because it is as if everyone is in your party outside battle but in FF7 it would effect character interactions.

  • I almost hit back because the video wasn't in the thousands of views, but I decided to stick with it and it was totally well done! Really liked it. My ranking (for this video) is exactly the same as yours, except I haven't played FF4 yet and I was less impressed with 7. The reason I don't really like 7 is because the story doesn't have as much focus as others in the series. There are many places in the game where you wander from town to town without any direct motivation, a step back from FF6.

  • Yes, FFX the best FF first one i played as well!! :D

  • dude i love both final fantasy 7 and 10 although for me its vise versa, awesome 2 vids man!

  • I always felt that FF8 remineded me of The Legend of the Dragoon

  • FF VI easily makes my list of top 10 games of all time in my 25 years of gaming. It's how important it is.

  • Really nice listing. I think a lot has to be said about having it be your first Final Fantasy game. If you have the chance, you should totally give FF VIII another chance. I HATED FF VIII when I first played, but now I absolutely love it. Who knows, may turn to like it:p Kidding aside, great vid. Have a good day:D

  • FF X is my favorite as well. It's funny that was my first FF too. By the way I hated FF 8 if that makes you feel better!

  • @calvin6323 lol I guess. God, it never ceases to amaze me how just hearing the name FF8 mentioned makes me want to go on a rant. I will spare you the bore XD and just say, Thank for the comment ;)

  • I loved this video man! As a fellow reviewer to another, you have a lot of talent. Keep on making these videos, since I have a feeling you might get a lot more subscribers in the future.

  • @GamingRetrospective Dude, thanks a lot! My last video was really uplifting with all the positive comments. My channel is young, but judging by the responses I get, I will definitely do more video reviews/commentaries.

There are many great videos I have planned especially for series' review type things. Probably won't be a ranking style like this exactly because most series I love, I love all the games in it.

  • @TriforceRich Yeah np man, you deserve it. I'm excited to see where your channel goes.

  • Nice vid rich

  • 1- FFIV is my favorite Final Fantasy and I am very exciting about the remake Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection on PSP that come with The Afters Years.

2- I remember playing FFVII when I was young, the graphics was amazing, I was like omg when I have see the Weapon attacking Junon, I can't forget that part of the game.

(sorry for my english, I speak french normally!)

  • @Atamoss Both great games. I am interested in the complete collection also, but I have a ton of games I need to play so I will probably pick it up down the road. I haven't played the after years, but I didn't hear great things about it. The updated graphics look great though.

  • Here's my ranking of the FF games. (FF XI is out because I've never got to play it) 13. FF III 12. FF X - 2 11. FF II 10. FF XIII 9. FF XII 8. FF 7. FF V 6. FF VIII 5. FF IX 4. FF VI 3. FF X 2. FF IV 1. FF VII I can understand your feelings towards FF X it was a great game ..... pity the sequel was total garbage what was SQ thinking? (Trust me I know what they were thinking and it's sad.) FF VII is still my favorite it holds up even today. :D Great videos!
  • @RPGswagman Pretty similar tastes. I didn't include final fantasy X-2 on my list because I just wanted it to be pure numbered final fantasies. I actually didn't hate it like many people, but I haven't played it in many years so who knows. I enjoyed the updated turn based battle mechanics like being able to hit an enemy in the middle of his attack and stop his path. Thanks for the support :)
