why do people have to be so ignorant about other cultures. Don't they know that the Inuit have very little resources around then in the TUNDRA of Canada? even if they could get to a grocery store, milk is like $12 a gallon!! at least this way they fulfill their Dietary needs, keep their ancient traditions alive and TEACH the younger generations all at once. Grow up already.
This..this is the most gory meat tasting video I've ever seen. I really wonder what it taste like..it must taste real good coz they sure seem to enjoy this "treat". No offense, but I think puking would be the response.
@TheMindfulOne It's actually pretty necessary. You have to understand that they survive like this. In the very far northern part of Russia too people eat raw meat because it generates more warmth. As for the seal, its either humans or orcas. At least the Inuits shot it first, orcas would've eaten it alive, screaming and being thrown around drowning.
@ricciuto1 its a fact that this is not necessary whether you like it or not. the fact is that they have little education and don't realize there are alternatives. unless there is absolutely no contact with the outside world there are alternatives. they choose to stick with tradition and not progress. i don't hate them its not a lack of compassion. they just don't know any better. ...they still eat off the floor.
@TheMindfulOne what’s the alternatives? Inflated vegetables or beef that’s travelled from wormer parts? honestly bro stop being so ignorant, you proved my first comments correct. Don’t justify your moronic views with "they still eat of the floor" I bet you’re an American coz only an American can be so stupid. Anyway don’t bother responding coz it will fall on deaf ears.
I bet this gives vegetarians convulsions. I wonder if these Inuit are conflicted about eating this animal? Certainly not! No more than a lion is conflicted about eating a gazelle.
@cwood4ever I don't see worms or parasites being able to survive those environments. In Norway they dry fish at open sky for months , if you do that in somewhere like Australia the fish is rotten in 1-2 hours.
PETA logically has nothing to do with these people. They eat and use seal for home oil, food, etc. But Inuit people has nothing to do with endangered seals, they are not greedy for hunting seals in massive scale or anything out of natural balance.
@maroonvelvetgirl Seals are not endangered. They are a pest that eat more of the cod in the east.. the same way Kangaroo is considered a pest in australia, and eaten there as well. We could either exterminate them and not eat them, or hunt them, and eat and consume every part of them, which to me is much more respectful.
it is interesting to see they just all sitting around eating the seal raw. maybe long ago in the artic they don't have access to woods to cook the meat, but now I am amazed that they still eat it raw despite having a modern kitchen. I am not saying it is wrong, but i guess i'm not used to raw seal meat..hhaha.i
@MrTotallyStranger Considering there are no trees in the arctic, there was no "conventional" fuel. The use of seal blubber for the qulliq, an oil-based lamp to heat a dwelling, and arctic grasses were about the only fuel they had access to, and all of that was inextricably linked to keeping warm and survival. Wasting it on cooking feels... like a luxury. Nowadays it's as much a part of the culture as Lakhota sweat lodges or Haida potlaches. It just... is. As far as I can tell, being an outsider.
lol, im going to post this on every vegetarians profile. thats good that they dont waist any of the seal, but i just dont have the stomache for brains and eyeballs. im shivering just thinking about it.
@steveisgood Its not that they are poor is just that its part of there culture to eat this and to eat it this way. Not like in other countries that they eat mens best friend "dog" and just out of curiosity try to sample every sigle little thing that swims by there water like whales and dolphins. Then they get people interested in trying those things and a demand begins.
Seal meat really good both raw and cooked. One of the best meals you couldn't ask for more!!! Makes me want to eat seal meat, can't wait till I go out hunting.
Please how come they can eat this stuff without some shoyu?
And I could eat the eyeballs only if they dont start staring at me

unnecessary. Humans are capable of the highest intellect and compassion. Too bad we don't use it.

We do this with cooked meat (sheep or cow).
