@aprilglaspieable It's Steve Hunter. After hearing Hunter play this song, Lou Reed recruited him to come play with him. And that's, in fact, Hunter playing that smoking lead with Reed on the incredible live version of this song on Reed's "Rock and Roll Animal."
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.

@daven58100 i have the version that got the airplay back in the mid 70s and it is superior to this one, but the live one here on youtube from Rockpalast is the absolute Bomb and hearkens me back to those days of awesome FM radio...speakin of the Bomb if you havent seen the youtube of a 1971 live version of james gang 'the bomber' then you havent lived
@BuckeyeInNC Checked out the performance at Rockpalast, would love to have a dvd of that. Miss the wail from the original album. Also checked out James Gang, if you were referring to the live perfomance in France, Excellent. Thanks for the referral.
@daven58100 Thanks for checkin out Joe Walsh at his abslolute best...thanks for checkin out the other Mitch vid too...I read that he remains hugely popular in Germany...whatever Rockpalast was, those Germans who were reponsible for it have put up all the Rockpalast shows on Youtube from the 70s and 80s and they are all quality.... here's another one at Rockpalast for you: do youtube search for "Spirit Hey Joe Live 1978"....it brings tears to my eyes...

I LOVE this song. I have it on "Stems and Seeds" a complilation of Michigan rockers. A band I know covered this and was ALMOST as good as Mitch.
Quick, to the way back machine.

This is different than the original LP cut! Where is this one from??
tfcrew 2 years ago
@tfcrew This version comes from a 2 CD Compilation called "Rock'n'Roll Gold Collection", I don't know the original LP cut. Is it any better/worse?
rickraptor 2 years ago
@rickraptor Definitely not the original which I think was on the Mitch Ryder's Detroit album. Personally i like the original slightly more.
