So he probably wouldn't have acted like that if he wasn't wearing it. Just like Hermione said; "You wouldn't be saying any of this if you hadn't been wearing the Horcrux all day." And didn't hear what he said and saw his face when he was talking to Hermione again? He felt so bad and sorry.. He was in love with her :)
