  • Brian Wilson influenced so many other great talents and as great as they are they will never be as great as Brian Wilson.

  • Who cannot be melted by what you see at 1:35?

  • i love seeing brian wilson play live. hopefully ill get to see him or him and da boys in person someday lol

  • Brian Wilson is the Patriarch of Rock!!!

  • Tatlor Mills... gorgeous!!!

  • Taylor Mills mmmm! dont remember her

  • taylor mills , rocks, she gave what brian needed,

  • That's not at the Roxy - Jimmy Hines played drums on those gigs, in 2000 and 2002.

  • Anybody else think Taylor Mills is naked under that smokin' black dress?

  • @asburystan Wish I was under to check ha ha ha

  • We love you Brian! Thank you for all you have given us in past and all the music to come!

  • Is that the Roxy in LA? I lived next to it for 8 yrs and went there many times for shows. If that's the same roxy they sure made it look nicer than the tiny hole in the wall that it is ;))

    Brian Wilson Rocks... still.

  • Does not get any cuter that 1:35........WOW! That wink just melts me......

  • you know when he sings alone somethings missing the others< who had those backup harmonys but at least he is doing what he left so long ago

  • Do I miss that sun, sand, surf and the girls.....

  • 1:32, you would.

  • Taylor pees perfume.

  • you forgot to mention he was also a conductor

  • Class!

  • How can anyone as old as Brian and who has done as many drugs as he has, have a hairline like that? It is not fair!

  • @09jpick He's 68. Just so you know. :) Yes, it's not fair to have a hairline like that at his age, but oh well.

  • I love how in this video, jeff and probyn are both shown with 1 guitar then shown again with completely different guitars :P

  • Going to see Brian in manchester in September, cant wait.

remember back in Liverpool in 1966 me mate giving me a blast of pet sounds and I said whats that, not a patch on our Beatles.

How wrong was I ,grown to love this genius and his brilliant music.

  • I would literally cry if i would meet Brian Wilson.

  • @exafy I did meet him, about 12 years ago, and I was speechless.

  • @exafy why don't you make happen?

  • @nomiclas And how ?

  • @exafy i guess find a performance venue and make sure you talk to him.the legends are dying.IE dean torrence.if you have the passion you can do this.

  • Taylor Mills...whoo...hoooooooooooooooooooo

  • Happy Birthday Brian!

    Keep Rockin'!

  • Brian Wilson was my teenage hero. The Beach Boys' music opened my mind to deeper emotional resonance in Rock music. Throughout my entire life I've been inspired by his music as a budding musician and a person. He will always be one of my favorite musical figures........

...but Taylor Mills distracted me in this video.

  • Brian is one of the greatest singer song writers. Thanks for all the happiness your music brought into my life.

  • its good to see him smile and happy :)

  • Brian sounds EXACTLY like he did in the 70's, here. I can't help but think that if it wasn't for the whole breakdown thing, he'd have his 60's voice, nowadays.

    Bleh, whatever, great performance.

  • I think almost everyone loved them and we still do. I STILL Play thier CD's in my car a lot, especially in the summertime! I have all their Cd's of the music they made in the 1960's and 1970's. They always give me such a happy feeling of no cares in the world! and the easy life. I feel like I am on top of the world when I play their music!

  • Love this!!

  • Incredible band, playing this great song live exactly as written and arranged by Mr. Wilson. Pure joy to listen to.

  • 1:34 moneyshot.

  • Thanks for posting this version of the Brian's great Beach Boys classic. The sheet music for the original piano part on "California Girls" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.

  • It would have been so wonderful if his brothers were singing with him as well ! So much talent wrapped up in one person, it's AWESOME ! It's impossible for me to comprehend who would vote negatively against this or any song of the BeachBoys.

Are you music deaf ? That's the one and only explination that I can find !

  • Great song, but DO also listen and watch the stunning version by The FENDERTONES...!

  • This is great. I would see a Brian Wilson or Al Jardine show any day over the Mike Love(less) and Bruce Johnston karaoke hour. Thanks for firing all of the former Beach Boys touring members Mike, you only improved Brian and Al's bands by doing so. P.S. John Stamos (musically) is no Dennis Wilson, and the only guy that even comes close to Carl is Jeff Foskett and he is in Brian's band. Listen to any current Beach Boys performances, they are terrible.

  • great!

  • This is the only band that should be playing BW music.

  • Saw Brian and his band last year. They were excellent. It's good to see Brain up and around and functional. If you're a Beach Boy fan and get an opportunity ot see Brian and this great band...do so. It was a lot of fun with lots of great Beach Boy's tunes performed wonderfully.

  • @saparmc first of all, I can promise you if we were sitting across the table you wouldn't call me dipshit..so show a little respect, please.

A big part of his mental illness was directly related to drug use which in the end destroyed all opportunity as they do with most people who abuse drugs.

Having grown up with and seen many of my friends destroy their lives with drugs, I have experience seeing the bright and brilliant become the strange and psychotic form pot / coke and meth

  • @cobyson100 the internet provides very "special" people like yourself a sense of courage you would never have if we were to have the same discussion face to face...

    someday...we'll be face to face

  • Nice job of the youngsters playing and singing the old guys music!

  • Taylor Mills sings as beautifully as she looks. It doesn't appear that she's done anything since 2009 (based on her website). Hope she's up to something! It's great to see Brian performing with musicians who understand his music.

  • Brilliant muscian wasted away the MAJORITY of his talent on DRUGS...that's the truth...his decision

  • @cobyson100 - no, he didn't make a decision -that implies a simple choice between two equally understood alternatives. You appear to know nothing about the insidiousness of drugs or the fragiiity of Brian's psyche if you think it was as simple as that. Maybe if you were him you might understand, but as you're not, you don't.

  • @prescient8 you make a decision the first time that alcohol or pipe comes to your lips or that pill goes down your throat...PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY...anything else is just democrat brainwashing...."it's not your fault; now can I have your vote?

  • Brian wrote this tripping on acid, having had a huge fight with with Murray, his Dad. He sat down at the piano chanting, hate my par-ents, hate my par-ents, starting the four note riff, da-da-DA-da, da-da-Da-, hate my par-ents, well east coast girls are hip... and the rest is history. This was Brian's Revolver, so to speak. This led to Good Vibrations, Pet Sounds, and a place in our world that includes Dylan, Paul, John, and maybe only Stevie Wonder.

  • The David Lee Roth version pales in comparison to Brian's perfomance.....Keep rockin Brian.... you know what you are doing!!

  • Brian Wilson = Musical Genius!

  • One of only 3 people who could compete with John and Paul in the 60s: Brian, Bacharach and Dylan. But if you want to talk about fairness, it wasn't really fair to the other songwriters, cuz God gave these 5 fellows bigger gifts than he gave other songwriters of that era.

  • @wilsondylanmccartney definitely true, although I think that Bacharach and Brian Wilson are a little underrated compared to the other three because their images weren't as "hip" or cutting edge and they came from a slightly earlier era. I think that the Motown songwriters were incredibly good as well!

  • love you bryan wilson long tome fan

  • 感動した。 Iwas really moved !

  • dogboy01: Not too shabby there. Read one way it states we all hate Mike. The next line says, Love the jerk off. Or do we all love to hate Mike the jerk off? I choose the latter. So do you or I at least hope so. Brian Wilson is still the man.

  • BRIAN WILSON THANK YOU FOR MAKE EVERYBODY HAPPY AND NOSTALGIC WITH YOUR SONGS!!! THE BEST

  • evanparker: You are so correct. Thank God Brian happened to be at a venue where the Wondermints were playing. Musically they are better than the Beach Boys original band. Though Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Al Jardine and Bruce Johnston were PDG or pretty damn good. Those were the ones with talent. If I omitted a name, I guess it is because I feel that person had none.

  • @pmoyer50 LMFAO YEAH MAN WE ALL HATE MIKE LOVE THE JERK OFF LOL

  • @pmoyer50 Hey he did play the tamborine you know! lol ;)

  • Taylor Mills is such a talented Hottie.

I love ths band they are so dog gone good!

  • he sounds like woody from toy story lmao

  • Just awesome. In the words of McCartney, the best touring band around. Period.

Though it does help to have such great songs to perform..

  • Oh wow that was incredible I hope Brian Wilson will come back to New Zealand some time = )

  • His smile is so nice^^

  • Brian and the beach boys...I love you!!! I laid in the sun and sang with you. I washed the car out in the yard and sang with you. I drove to the local burger joint for a coke and sang with you and I went to bed singing with you at night and woke up in the morning singing with you. You're the best!!!

  • @snuggles1956 Wonderful comment! That feeling can be shared by millions of fans. :-)

  • @snuggles1956 You got it right! I have played and loved their music from day 1.

  • Taylor Mills = ♥♥♥♥

    great concert footage, too!

  • Taylor Mills = ♥♥♥♥!

awesome version of the song, too!

  • Brian still has a great voice. Not like how it used to be, but he lost it in his drug phase, and then got it back, and I think it's better than some of those classic rockers that are touring today

  • Little Known? The whole damn band is awesome! Everyone performing is awesome!

  • what year was this from?

  • @xtrmodel70 I think '66. MAYBE '65

  • @xtrmodel70 I'm pretty sure it's '65. :)

  • Music can make so incredibly happy!

    A timeless song.

  • California..

  • Love This Song-I always will!!!! One day We'll back 2 Cali.....Melinda of blingblingmusic4u

  • I don't think it's possible to hear this song and not feel a sense of happiness. I just wish Brian's brothers were here to sing with him. RIP Dennis & Carl.

  • This is a first rate version i just love it!

  • I love this stuff! Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys were flat out awesome.

Nothing can touch this guy's melodic harmony arrangements. Every time I hear a Beach Boy song, I feel good.

  • smile brian! really no pun intended, he looks like he is not all there...

  • @laidout

Au contraire. He looks like he's all there and more. He's just concentrating on hitting all the notes.

Singing ain't easy when you know people are paying to hear it.

  • the female is useless

  • Wow, this is a really good David Lee Roth cover!

  • @ScottOmatic I'll take the bait ... kidding, right?

  • @TheBeachboys4ever Bozadee, bozadee, bop !

  • Fact....I love the Beach Boys music. My favorite R &R band of all time.

  • boa musica (:

  • love so harmonys. so hard to do.

  • My favorite song of all time.

  • I hope those kids hes playing with REALIZE what an honor it must be to be on stage with a genius like Brian wilson

  • @shadowbeliefisme Haha not sure about them being kids, I think most of his band are firmly in their 40's and Jeff is well into his 50's.

  • Yeah, Brian definately sounds better than Mike Love here. The more I listen to the Beach boys, all the others really had better voices than Mike Love.

  • @larrystarstruck look up 'the beach boys on dancing with the stars' - Mike Love was singing this exact song and it sounded TERRIBLE.

Mike Love can sue for the name 'The Beach Boys' but the true genius of the band rests in the mind of Brian Wilson.

  • @rab2591 Crikey.I see what you mean GO BRIAN!

  • @larrystarstruck Mike Love was phenominal in many of the Beach Boys songs, and while those who appreciate the genius of Brian Wilson will snub the surfing songs and drool over Pet Sounds and Smile, those may never have come to fruition without the surfing songs. Brian, here, doesn't sound better than the original, nor should he. He's been through a ton of storms, so to speak. I know it's cool to shit on Mike Love, but he was a necessary piece of the puzzle.

  • @HOGEFAN You are very wise, not to mention extremely perceptive when it comes to the Beach Boys. I wish people would get over their hate Mike Love fetish and appreciate him for his contributions to the band.

  • This shows clearly who was the artistic genious in the Beach Boys!

  • brian wilson is the voice of boomers.

    the happy ones.

  • crap. that was TIGHT.

  • Taylor looks really hot here unfortunately she's not aging well

  • he may have lost a lot of his range and falsetto, but he still has a really nice voice

  • Brain looks like he's getting a cold soapy enema throughout the whole song.

Better than the Beach Boys... not even close!

  • Brian so proud and loose on this video singing CA Girls. What an intro...

  • its Lose NOT Loose !

  • @mrbadguy91 i think he meant loose...

  • @mrbadguy91 It's not 'its' it's 'it's. And it is 'loose'. Correcting fail.

  • Oh Taylor, you are sooooooo Hot!! I was just in Love with her at this Perf.! Wolfsky9

  • little known fact, brian's touring band is fucking EXCELLENT.

  • @evanparker They are also simply excellent.

  • @evanparker

I've seen Brian Wilson last year with this band and it is by far the best performance I have ever seen. They all seem to really enjoy it and their vibe is so great.

On the SMILE dvd is also alot of great footage how they prepared themselves and most of all Brian for this tour.

  • Taylor Mills ... Spooge!

  • @sowhatdude1 or SKEEET!!!

  • @sowhatdude1 She's so fine!

  • @Dodo251 ... It's so funny how a person (me) writes a comment on Youtube & quickly forgets all about it .... an entire year passes by, someone reads it, likes it & writes a reply.

The reply comes back to me & it prompts me to come back to the long forgotten video. Only to find out that 15 other peeps shared my line of thinking strongly enough to all give me the thumbs up ..... Go figure :O)

  • @sowhatdude1 lol

  • @sowhatdude1 I miss those days!!
