Then it asks me if I wanna update (which is required) and when I press 'y' it says I can't update because it's not the base folder or whatever.

yeah its a challenge and that does make it more fun, the only thing about it is that once you play it for awhile it gets really really repetitive... i have played it a lot, waaaay more than i played any of the 3 newer elder scrolls, but i have never finished it all the way through =/

errr no you dont, you need to google something called a frontend it is a program where you can enter the codes once and it will give you a link to click on and auto run the codes. also, perhaps easier solution "this worked on my old computer but not my new one =/" go watch another of my videos for making dosbox shortcuts

never heard of that? did you download a earlier version? get it from bethesda if you did not already. and in *this* case it should be "c:/dosgames/DAGGER" and i *if you got it from bethesda and still have the problem* would atleast try and press yes? it might just update and be done ^.^ if you have further messages please PM me, youtube doesn't tell me about ALL of my comments :P

the two cd's are "dfcd" and "dagger" did you use the wrong one for install or play? thats all i can really think of =/, maybe try redoing it all, watch the vid again make surer its all correct? check if your folder is named "dosgames" and directly in your C drive, the two folders named "DFCD" and "DAGGER" inside it. now i have not memorized every error out there, and i never experienced this. google is a better friend than i in this situation.

If you go to elderscrolls(dot)com and download the game and follow the instructions on the PDF it is the best way IMO. I tried your way and it said there was not enough disk space even though I know with 2 TB HD space I have enough for a 400 MB game. I got it to work that way. You should do an alternate tutorial showing their way.

it isnt wrong as much as your computer doesn't like it, i used these codes and from the comments below im sure one of the "i love you's" means it worked for atleast someone :P the reason this was not exactly correct for you was because all computers take dosbox a different way, and there is a thousand different codes you can try, but all the same im glad u got it worked out \.

because i would upload a video that doesnt work =\ dont jump to conclusion. the two possible problems are 1. your doin it wrong or 2. your computer is doin it wrong. so retry my tutorial and if you follow it step by step "u also need to read description" and it still does not work then look somewhere else because all computers are different

i think you can just restart the tutorial from beginning and just reinstall dagger fall? idk iv never had to uninstall it :P try that, it might be on control panel but i doubt it, there is an uninstall option somewhere.... i think you can just reinstall dagger fall, if you cant then reinstalling dos box might work... i dont think it will be to hard

i think you either installed it incorrectly or you are misplacing your folders, pay carefull ettensoin to the video while its telling you what to name and where to put your folders. also for your error 0 try running it without the "z.cfg" part

i no longer have dosbox so i cant help you through experience, but after a long while on google, i found something, try the - navigate to your dosbox folder, most likely in C:/program files and find a file called autoexec.bat and open with a text doc, such as notepad and press ctrl f and type in securemode, find the line in the commands starting secure mode and simply delete it, then simply save and open dosbox

is the previous does not work then try uninstalling dosbox and downloading a newer version *or if you have the newest than get an older one xD* the further apart the version are the more likely it will work, "the changes are not that large i promise"

sounds like it might be a vist admin problem, try to right click when you open dosbox and press run as admin. it might also be that it is write protected, right click on folders and hit property to see if they are. the file might also not be there make sure you have the folder in the correct directory. if none of those work message me *youtube does not always alert me of comments, so send my channel a message*

you download it from the bethesda website, then follow my video... if its asking you about pathways it probably means you did not put the folder in the right spot. another thing is you said you *ran the install thing* you do not run any install .exe that comes with the game, instead use dosbox and use the codes in description to install, then the codes in video to start
