Florida was not the only state in the united states that was colonized by spaniards, places like texas and new mexico have a much richer ancient spanish culture than even florida,and in new mexico there is a large community of hispanic criollos who are the offsprings of the ancient spanish settlers that colonized that area,and these people only identify themselves as HISPANICS and nothing else,they have no latinamerican admixture or ties of any kind with the rest of hispanics of latin roots
