  • I can clearly see why most pilots hate flying to JFK...I thought it was due to heavy traffic but it must be from the assholes that are somehow called ATC

  • Its not that he is stupid, he is a major safety hazard. ALL pilots MUST be able to speak english as it is the worldwide atc language. if you can't, you shouldn't be flying, at least internationally. If the pilot and atc can't communicate your asking for trouble.

  • @sands2003 You must have an IQ of a rock. that Air china pilot clearly cant converse and follow instructions. How many times the ATC have to repeat and he's speaking clear english but the chinese pilot dumb brain wasn't able to comprehend. i have one question for you though. ARE U CHINESE? lol

  • English is the international language of Air Traffic Control. Any one who does not speak comprehensible english is not fit to be an international airline pilot. The confusion that poor english such as the chinese pilot demonstrates that can cost airlines millions, or perhaps even someone's life. I doubt you'd be so sympathetic if the pilot had taxied to the incorrect position and caused a collision or even just a delay.

  • JFK ATC is the worst, no doubt!

  • When does a Chinaman go to a dentist? Tooth-Hurty.

  • Passenger: *Overhears ATC conversation* "thats it!" *opens emergency door* "Fuck it im walking to the gate"

  • @mimithem english is the official language of ATC. all pilots must be able to at least speak and understand english to a certain degree. In times of emegency they are permitted to use their own language if ATC allows. The pilots of JAL123 spoke english and japanese because of the stress they were under.

And if you don't get mad and frustrated during your job then I wish I had the same job as yours.

  • @dave46563 I agree that English is the main ATC language worldwide but it is still difficult for someone who's native language is not English to speak like an American. Nevertheless, I have seen no phraseology saying "Have they cleared you into the ramp". ATC is not the everyday conversation, it's a total of specific phrases and you may know it better than me. Let us not talk about emergency situations where the conversations may be away from phraseology...

  • @mimithem how else are ATC going to ask if they've been cleared into the ramp? ATC does have phraseology but there is no specific way of asking a question like that. it's not like he said "hey dude, are you allowed into your parking place now?"

  • air china pilots should learn english before they actually fly, they make us pilots look BAD =(

  • No speak English = No fly plane!

  • English is the international language of aviation. If this pilot can't understand English he shouldn't have a job flying.

  • The controller is a little... bad! At the first try, it begin to scream at the guy...

  • @superpilote31 He didn't scream at the pilot until the third time.

  • poor chinesse pilot - he was very nervous he didn't understand the controller's first question and this guy spoke in a little rought manner maybe he didn't let the chinesse take a fresh breath first...so the second question had a wrong answer too...next time they'll learn - LEFT TURN AT JULIET, JOIN MIKE/ALPHA - HOLD SHORT AT ALPHA....or sth like that ! wow both of them made me crazy too !

  • why is it that he speaks english fairly well but can't seem to understand what the atc guy is saying

  • Doesnt mean that people who dont speak english well are dumb.. you dumb!

  • Proficient communications...a china doll was waiting for him..can't miss that ''rendez-vous''....

  • What is he saying at 1:21?

  • @FuenferBMW I ghink it's something like: At the interrogative!

  • @FuenferBMW point interrogative!

  • @pascalbrax merci

  • roger..aaahhh...cleared to thee.....ramp dooodle jam...lool

  • @brgimscht lmfao hahaha poor chinese guy

  • To people who think that we shouldn't blame the pilot, because he's Chinese and doesn't know English well: Pilots all over the world has to know English very well!

  • @DJaugissss No, we shouldnt blame the pilot. We should blame those who let him to fly outside China, better for him would be flying domestic flights where you dont need to speak english.

  • @Pvjinflight I think that even in China you need to speak english, otherwise foreign pilots will not be able to understand you.

  • @DJaugissss Controllers have to speak english, but when whole cockpit crew is chinese they can use it instead of english...

  • LOLOLOL this chinese guy is FUNNYY XD

  • he doesnt sound stupid he sound more like newbie at this :P its ok dudes dont blame him D:

  • Stupid Chinese pilot. and aeronautical authorithies

  • luckily there werent any accidents..

  • hahahaha!!!

  • yeh but English is the international language of Aviation... so you kind of have to know it!

  • @bigbill123455 sadly........

  • Don't write bed comments about him... He just don't know English well..

  • haha... yeah is funny but this misunderstood stuff causes accidents...

    Remember Tenerife guys?

  • Why did GC wait until 1:23 to slow down and clearly enunciate what he was saying? I know these guys are overworked and have a lot of communications to deal with, but continuing to speak at a normal speed/enunciation rate seems illogical if clear communication is truly the desired goal. No?

  • whahahahahah omg those chinese pilots are so annoying XD

  • lol what did he said at 1:22, "try not to what?"

  • I think he said "This is a question... an interrogative". Now consider the following... If you had trouble understanding that, why should it be easier for someone who's native language is not English? "Question" is a simple vocabulary word. "Interrogative" is not. The proper thing to do with non-native speakers is to slow down and use easier words. The tower is doing the opposite and showing frustration. This is counter-productive, in my view.

  • There's no doubt that the pilot should go to improve his English before he fly again. However, I don't understand why the GC kept asking the aircraft about the ramp's condition. Since the aircraft was on his freq. how could the aircraft know if the gate cleared them or not?

Why didn't the GC just pick up a phone to call the ramp instead? I don't get it. Can anyone explain?

  • At top of descend, crew have already called ops. for gate assignment then after landing, the non flying pilot or the engineer calls gate control to verify the gate and be cleared to enter the ramp. Ramp control is independent of ground control.

  • Chinese try to avoid questions, they are afraid of getting punished for a forbidden answer.

  • also everyone in the other planes can hear them lol

  • thats y i dont wana work at an international airport

  • I totally understand that the ATC freak out. It is unacceptable that a commercial pilot(!) does not speak/understand english.

Its dangerous, hundreds of lives depends on CLEAR communications.

  • hehe that Chinese guy probably speaks better English than you ever will an asian language with completely different alphabet, syntax and structure. Even so it is essential that somebody can pick up the details over the radio as to whether it's a question or order.

  • I agree to a point. English is the language of international aviation and anyone flying a plane should be able to speak it. However, even a fluency test cannot ensure that someone will understand EVERY spoken word at ANY given moment of a foreign language. I know that is the desired goal, but I don't know a single human being on Earth who can achieve it. There has to be a better way.

  • atc / or ground control could have send them a follow me taxi... bill would have to payed by the china air . no need for atc or gc to get that kinda arrogantly agresive. That's a hazardous attitude of doing the atc/gc job and affects people to get mad. That's the way a dangerous situation gets out of control. The pilot's performance is poor but ATC's / GC's too.

  • I saw this with two different eyes. First, its a must have to understand english for a pilot, but the amercan way of life is very hard to understand it all. But if the atc speak slow and cleare, any one how speak school english must understand the atc. This is a thing what i dont understand...

  • xDD haha.. embarrassing

  • ROFL

  • omfg..

  • OMG, that's hilarious.

  • Hahahahahahaahhaahahaha....

  • But this is too funny, lmao.

  • Don't call him dumb. He's just chinese who doesn't speak english too well.

  • @aceflyboy You are actually defending the idiot? This is BASIC and common ATC phraseology, nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. This pilot shouldn't be handling a fucking airplane with passengers if he can't understand pivotal read backs. Simple taxi instructions like this shouldn't have to be fucking spoon-feed 4 times, that's just embarrassing.

  • @foxyswedee Hey, I don't even remember commenting on this video 2 years ago. Since then new pilots in Canada have to pass an English proficiency test as part of their license and so the Chinese students here are struggling lol. It is frustrating to hear such radio communication when flying around poor English speaking pilots but this video is too funny to hear.

  • @aceflyboy Hey, that's alright! I currently work as an ATCA, so I come across pilot like these on a regular basis...it certainly is frustrating. Human errors is bound to happen, but it shouldn't occur on this basic level. Heck, I had to know the whole taxi routes and tower phraseology prior to even applying...

Anyways, the Aviation English Proficiency test is an excellent implementation, at least it will progressively filter out the morons.

  • @foxyswedee He could fly domestic flights where is no need for english, so really ones to blame are those who let that pilot to fly outside China.

  • @Pvjinflight I hope you are joking? The ICAO is standard and required by any country partaking in aviation, whether its domestic or international.

Pilots and controllers go through a set of english proficiency assessments obligatory prior to enrolling for the actual training, so the question to ask is what fucking crack he slipped through?

  • @foxyswedee China is China, i dont think that regulations are really watched so tight there.

  • @Pvjinflight Sure stranger, and that makes it okay?

If you keep them strictly domestic, then alright, buhu. HOWEVER, when they're entering international grounds with horrendous communication skills - as this lovely pilot, THAT is when the problem arises...

  • @aceflyboy I wouldn't criticise him for not speaking English well. I'd criticise him for not speaking English well and being an airline pilot.

  • @menglinhai

Most Chinese pilots dont even know much English before becoming pilots

  • @menglinhai

    well said

  • @aceflyboy in this case he shouldn't be there

  • wow a pilot cant speak english 0o

  • wa a dumb air china pilot

  • fuck u

  • Oohh my god... this is not funny, but it is tragic for sure... and dangerous

  • als lotse wär ich durchgedreht

  • HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAH...*breathe* HAHAHAHAHAAHAH....
