  • Hey Jeff...Haven't checked in a while. Are you still racing this speedster? If so, how did season go? If not, do you have further racing plans? Great video and music!! Have had it bookmarked for quite some time. Thanks for sharing!!!

  • Hi,

Do you have pictures of the hull (or plans of it)?

    Thanks

  • How fast would this go?

  • How much did this project cost you? Looks great!

  • @ZMonster06 I would say somewhere in the 6k-7k range, ready to race.

  • nice boat ! ... i tried doing a search online for that JDS Formula E kit, but i couldn't find it anywhere ... plz leave me a message - as to where i can find (and buy) one of these kits ... btw, how much does the kit cost ?

  • is this a kit? i have been looking for a good hydroplane to build(first) and this one looks awesome.

  • thats awesome, beats my 8 ft Tiny Titan with 10 hp Merc hands down, lol. just watching this gives me the hydroplane itch.

  • What's the engine?

  • That is an awesome little boat. The smaller the funner.

  • Jeff,

    Any racing updates???

  • Well,We had the best year yet as far as wins.(didn't lose a race all season) "pretty cool" Thanks for asking !

  • hi, is this a kit and if so where can i buy one ,,,thanks

  • Hey Jeff,

Is that 90+ or 90++++? How's the season going?

  • This season is going very well, undefeated so far ( knocking on wood ) and no major problems with boat or engine Thanks for asking...

  • Very cool Jeff. Keep it up! Not sure how long the season lasts, but let us all know how it goes.

  • How fast and how long is this hydro?

  • Top speed is cassified info, lets just say she does 90+......12'7" LOA

  • beautiful hydro!

  • y do they take that engine covers off?

  • where did you get it?

  • jdsextreme(dot)com

  • what kinda motor is that?

  • Thanks for the quick reply Jeff. Again, good luck this season. Keep us all posted!!!!

  • Fantastic!!!! Are you racing the same hydro this year? What is the basic block on the engine? Great music! I know the song is by The Mermen, but what is the title of the tune? Good luck this season!!!!!!!!

  • Yes,I am racing this boat this season. the engine started life as a Evinrude 70hp fishing motor and has been extremely modified. The song tittle is "Miki's Lush Beehive" from the MERMEN CD "California Health and Happyness Road Show".

    Thanks for watchin !

  • Nice vid, thanks!!

  • how long did you take to complete it? what model is that?

  • I think it was a little over a year..(I didn't work on it every day)It could be done much sooner if time was not an issue!

The model is a JDS formula E, or what is now known as 850cc modified outboard

  • thts gorgeus, great craftmanship, you have got jesus hands!!

  • where did you get that banner that says johnson hardcore outboards?I WANT ONE.thanks

  • I work at a Johnson/Evinrude dealership. the banner was part of a promotional deal a few years ago.

Ask around at a dealer near you , they may have one !

Sorry to say, mines not for sale.

    Thanks for lookin !

  • Thanks Jeff.

  • Raced outboard hydro & runabout back in 1979 in Alaska where the water is cold and your prop can get a real good bite in the water. You really never loose the itch to race. Great vid and nice boat. Good luck in the future!

  • Jeff: Did you start off in E Mod? That takes some cojones!!!!

  • I did one race in 2004 in a little osy400 boat that a friend had.....Everything else has been in Formula E.

  • HEy there jeff93c,

I just finished racing a hydroplane my dad built this summer and I have cought the bug. We are looking for plans or a kit for a pickle fork just like yours. We know about glen-l and sorens, and sorens has some similar, but any light you could shed would be appreciated on where to get your plans or kit. Don't care so much about the kit as we can build ours form scratch.

BTW way to go on your first out of the gate.

Thanks for any help you can give,

    Luke

  • Luke did you get the message I sent ?

  • A great rookie season! What a huge accomplishment. Way to go!
