@4pendragon Yes it was fantastic, but there is so much brilliant music today that very few people discover, because it is "underground" and the music market is so vast no one can have time to fathom 0,001% of it. In 30 years many records of today that sold poorly will have elevated their status to timeless classic. Also many of the hit records of the 60s/70s were terrible (but maybe not as terrible as today's post-MTV hits).
@cometothesabbat GET OUT OF HERE! today they just steal this gen of music from the 60,s and 70,s and still cannot get it right!Their is way to much tech today in music. It makes it easier for musicians to get the sound they want, without having to be creative,or even learn how to play it.These guys in the 60, and 70,s where original.Bullshit these artist today are ''underground''their is so much more opportunity with the internet to get your stuff heard. They just suck!Bands in the past rule!
Can`t believe I`m listening to this, back in 1970 as a 15 year old, Sacrifice was the first rock album I ever bought.I haven`t heard this for over 30years,its all coming back now
i kinda like the cult folk style of music now after hearing these can anyone tell me of any other bands that play folk/cult music like these at all? please
i heard about these earlyer on a website that had a brief history of satanism in music, it mentioned these guys being teh first band to bring satanism to the mainstream, saying that bands like black sabbath were barely occult compared to black widow.
hey mate, you should read the press not web.than you will know also about Coven.Bands like that put satanism into mainstream.also rolling stones.and many more.not One band.
This is the best track with Black Widow, the lesslie organ in the beginning is fantastic, there has just been released a Live cd+ DVD with recordings from 1970 where they do the whole Sacrifice set.
actually coven cameabout artound the same time but the didn't have the same influences and weren't covered by the press as much. or followed around by priests. :)
they will, im about to post one from "return to the sabbat" which is pretty much a bootleg recording of the sacrifice sessions that was released a few years ago
...takes me all the way back to Billericay, they played at the Archer Hall and I got to spend a brief moment with Kip Trevor...fancied him like mad...but alas I was about 13...wonder what they're doing now?
So great, so spooky...this is an awesome album...

Yet, still there's something so relaxing about their music. Occult rock has that effect. It's hard to find much of it though.
