I believe that's why he called the song machiavellism. Niccolo Machiavelli was a renaissance man who wrote a book called "The Prince". It was about how a prince should rule his kingdom with lying, deceitfulness, and harmful politics. Many people believe the person he wrote this to, was to make him screw up as a leader and thereby be overthrown.

I say they took the deceitfulness, and put it into song form. Clever song indeed.
