@katsongs he was awesome too...he and keith richards hung hard for a couple of years. if you want to hear 2 great song listen to nora jones dueting with keith and hickory wind for the parsons tribute eve
@platter1000 All the folk and "friends" who partied right along in those days, and lived to tell it, like to play judge and jury now about Gram, who often downplay his influence and historic importance...all I know is, every band/group he ever played with came to sound more like HIM, and never the other way around....he was faulted and had sorrow in his life, his music and singing style came from somewhere besides just "talent", and was gone way too soon. There but for the grace of God....
grew up listening to Johnny...Waylon..June of course...Willie...and so many more...country music is ok....but I sure miss the olders ones...my folks are up there now with them...I know they are singing!
acashfan1, I couldn't have put a better bunch of people together in this video than you did. Once in the mid 60's as a G.I. I went to a JC Show in San Antonio, some Airmen and I got in free. We had to sit in the isle though. When Johnny came on stage, he looked at us and said,"I won't start till my friends serving our country get seated here up front. After the show he signed autographs and talked with us. I thank him for his service. Thankyou for this great video.
Though we miss you John, I know that June did wait for you, just beyond the blue. Few people in the music industry had the impact that you had on this old world you left behind. No doubt, you will have a commanding roll in your new one.
A dear friend of ours died this morning and I heard this song and thought of her and her husband who is left behind... I know they will meet in Heaven some day...How wonderful that will be... God bless you Bob!
@RedeemedbytheGod bless you my friend you aren't ready a warrior wishing you all the best luck in the world your comment is very moving thank you for being so open
Doesn't matter, don't bring your personal opinions here, that's not why this video was made. Personally, I want to be buried with my guns, so me and John Wayne can go shoot rattlers in heaven.
@spackenaufwacken Same here - I happened on it the week my father died and played it in church at his memorial service. Affected many people who had never heard it before.
words cnt upset me easily but music lik this breaks me apart with evry lyric.i wish there was more around today. (u wudnt think im only 14 ha) rip jr. x
ty for this post.reminds me how lucky i was to have grown up with ALL of these "stars".
anyone born after say 1980 is likley asking who these people are. we had all of these greats and they have brittney, nicole and people who are "famous" for being famous.
age has nothing to do with your love and understanding of awesome music i was born in 1990 and am still wondering what in the hell happened to music, but johnny cash's last CD showed his true love, compassion, and soulfulness of music that you can only get from hard times, death and tragedy so do not ever say that it has anything to do wit your age, and im not saying that all your musicians today are shit, apparently johnny credited alot of musicians half of his last CD's where amazing covers.
that hurts see a lot of souls i love

This is a really neat old song. Well done. But it would have been better if each pic had a name because in time many of these faces won't be known.

@ksufler Yes it is Ronald Reagan. That photo used to be on Waylon.com, before it was ruined and now no longer exists.

Johnny is in Heaven right now. Along with June, her family and her folks.
I'm looking fo'rd to going there myself and joining them.
Heaven is free for the asking, but the gate is narrow.
Unlimited amounts of flights and tickets, so flights are boarding.
