  • I love the blues and their GREAT ~~ Sweet sound also :) what I don't understand is why can't people have their own touch ~ always people say well they're not as good as so and so ,, hey you people don't know Music if it all has to sound alike ..

  • He makes SRV look like a Joke

  • @JSpears90 vehemently disagree...lots of good chops, but no one had the "soul" fingers that Stevie had...

  • watched 4x now WOW

  • Love Robben's licks! Come check out my channel for some more guitar videos!

  • Without a doubt, Robben's finest sounding guitar. Listen to that mother sing! Why the hell don't Fender still make this beauty? I want one! As for Robben and Clapton, different ball parks people. I think Eric would agree that Robben comes from another place musically. I respect both but, these days, lean more towards Robben's intricate style. Please bring back that guitar, Robben. None of your recent mega expensive stuff sounds half as good.

  • An 8-bar blues at it's finest...

  • this is what u call real playing compared to eric clapton

  • @dcskater1001 Robben would be the first to tell you that Clapton is a major force in the blues and a major influence on him.

  • @funkifyyourlife he defintly would be, i just admire the way robben plays compared to eric clapton who is just repeadtly uses pentatonic scales which cna get repetative and boring

  • @dcskater1001 I agree that Robben utilizes a vast vocabulary, but Clapton is steeped in the blues and has made more than a lifetime's worth of great music with fairly limited tools. Similar to Jimi, Wes, Django, and Charlie Christian. Eric doesn't just use pentatonics, but he starts there and uses his ears to supplement. Wynton Marsalis, who in the past has generally considered a jazz snob, played a recent show with Clapton. Robben's amazing, but I'd tread lightly around criticism of Eric.

  • @funkifyyourlife farout you replyed back really well haha , the way you said it sounds the correct thing to think

  • @Moskutappaja Thanks, didn't know fender made one ! Looks like a nice a guitar .

  • I love that guitar + amp setup ! What kind of guitar ts that ?? Thanks !

  • @dave22h34

Guitar seems to be Fender robben ford model, I'm not so sure of amp but sure looks like early Dumble for me..

  • He's got the blues...

  • yeah

  • hey look its getty lee playing drums hahaha

  • awesome, i love it... but one thing.... wtf is he wearing... :/ just saying i love this im a guitarist and i appreciate the skill this man displays here... but yeah...

  • deeeeeep....

  • 18 ppl must burn in hell

  • Why...where the hell are the Cymbals...i can barely hear them...maybe my guitarrist finally did it...i'm fucking deaf on the high frequencies...

  • volume swells are nice but Dickey Betts didn't use a pedal on the intro to the live version of Elizabeth Reed! He did it the old fashioned way.

  • This is one of the most beautiful version of this song !!!!

  • wow, hes gooooooood :D

  • Great Version!

  • oh yeah!!! this is what the blues is deep from the soul and played from the heart. yeah baby yeah!!!

  • 2:30 to 2:39, Robben and the drummer find absolute synchronicity. Fantastic.

  • god bless you.

  • Shoulder pads. cool.

  • Superb.

  • the blue notes came to Hong Kong once a friend gave me his tickets went along not knowing what to expect, they played instead of a canceled leo sayer concert my mate wanted to see Leo Sayer the AC hall had about 50 people in it was empty. Man oh man was he and the band fantastic and one of the best concerts ive been to. One of my favourite guitarist know

  • somebody knows the year of that concert?

  • mys__/bonnardsbluesband

  • thanks for all suggestions, guys. found a couple of albums on itunes. Makes commuting to work far more bearable :)

  • @louie180 no problem man

  • F'n kickass geetar playin'! Plus he's such a damn cutie! ;)

  • I just shot an entire show with Ford in Petaluma. Some of it is up now. Called...

    Robben Ford Sampling

  • Very good guitar player... but that singing is comically un-blues-like.

  • @Hoopermazing What? You like Eric's version better? Ok, Robben's voice ain't George's or even Huey's, but its still better than Erics voice, let's not even go into ax slingin, 'cause Eric don't even come close.

  • @iroulis Which version of Eric's? He's got a number of 'em... I love this version, but why in HELL would you want to live in a world with just this version, of NONE of Eric's? A poorer world, if you ask me. I want 'em all, for different moods, different times, etc. If you don't get that, screw it.

  • How can this so awesome? Can anyone tell me?

  • Esse cara é monstro na guitarra !!! Sou grande fã!

  • A little blues for you

  • why is there no crowd noise in this recording ?

  • @hozeryo too blown away to make noise.

  • hey, everyone. i'm new to Robin Ford was and wondering if anyone could recommend me a good album to get me started?

  • @louie180 JIngChi, that's a band he was in, with Vinnie C and Jimmy Haslip. There are a couple of vids on youtube.

  • @louie180 theres an album on itunes called nothing but the blues...its awesome

  • @louie180 been a long time fan get the tiger album one, think its called talk to the tiger if i stand corrected

  • Anyone know the chords ?

    I've transcribed most of it I just can't get the last chord ... D9, Db#9, F#, A13 ,,,,,, what the next one???

  • @JohnnieCameronMusic the chord you're asking for is Ab7#9. He's not playing a root. His A13 double stops the 1st & 2nd strings @ 7th fret (the 9th & 6th of A13) with a 3rd & b7th played on his G & D strings below at frets 6 & 5. His Ab7#9 holds the double stop & moves the other 2 down a 1/2 step. Best wishes to you.

  • @RobMackenzie Thanks mate, I managed to crack it shortly i posted this.

    Great song huh!

Was wondering if you know the chord variations he does at 7.00mins?

    Regards

  • Anyone know the chords ?

  • Awesome!

  • this guy totally has the blues fuck yeah

  • boring

  • @flowerdrop1 Its hard for people used to listening to the same old garbage formula to appreciate true creation and musicianship. Just because it sounds different and takes a trained ear doesn't mean its boring. It means your tastes are probably shit.

  • man! this is the kind of blues that i like, he plays with his soul!

  • ...what is he wearing?

  • Nice playing plus a great "tone". You can still hear all the chord intervals!

  • Comment removed

  • Nice playing. great overdrive sound but you can still hear all the chord intervals!

  • sick

  • where does he get these shirts?

  • Check out Roscoe comping chords while holding down the bottom during the 1st chorus of Robben's solo. Very Cool.

  • Wow!!! The boy can play!!!

  • Ya got to love it when guitarists use the the quiet side of their dynamics so masterfully! ....Good bit at 5:58 there! Having a little fun at 7:21!

  • one of the greatest blues man!!!!!

  • bitte unbedingt die version von eric clapton hören, dann weiß man, wie sich das ganze richtig anhören soll

  • bitte unbedingt die version von eric clapton hören, dann weiß man, wie sich das ganze richtig anhören soll

  • so what's the story...u guys just create sounds or what?

  • perfecto................................

  • Simply incredible! *goosebumps*

  • this is a great cover - i also like the one i added here from cory wilds in seattle - sort of a led zep 'dazed & confused' flavor -- and listen to his lead about 2 mins in - it rocks -

  • ha for a sec that drummer looked a bit like chris layton. lol

  • Great cover

  • this is one of the greatest artist i know , really, he domined the guitar

  • he looks like a young jaco pastorious

  • the best cover i've ever hear

  • For petes sake Robben is playing the tune. The camera should focus on him not the bass and drum, wicked. Want to see him play.

  • @cagno1 Don't be silly. The whole band is playing the tune and I think it's a great footage from Robben's show.

  • @cagno1 No Robben is accompanied. Robben is the master who's name we type in the search box, not " robben ford drummer" idiot. I have listened to this track many times. It would be great to watch how he tackled it not move the camera away to see the support.

  • Is there a better guitarist out there, I don't think so!!!!!

  • Oh la claque!!! Tout est parfait, super bien amené, d'une grande musicalité!!! Du pur Robben Ford and The Blue Line.

  • fucken good

  • a telephone number written on a match book, lost in topanga canyon

i should joined on rhythm so-o many years ago...

  • God I love this...wonderful tone from Robben...sweet and LEAN! for me he's one of the better sounding guitarists...knows how to be subtle; has a good balance of "muscle" and "charm" in his playing...

  • 12 people don't got da blues!

  • Robben Ford is the epitome of taste and tone.

  • hell fucking yeah

  • @victooorrrr agreeeee!! :]

  • @victooorrrr

31416yatoula : OK/ relish this one: it is Jazz just as it's completly a Blues, gutsy & soulfull !

  • Superior clear and rich sound as usual! Awesome playing!

  • the real deal

  • Excellent!

  • LOL I wonder if those incredible musicians in Yellow Jackets even knew that Robben could sing!

Back when he played with them, I sure didn't know!

  • 6 String Bass baby ! :-)

  • This guy is amazing!

  • Blues of the Highest Standard( in my ears)..!

Its all about Dynamics and Tone:)

  • I like Robben Ford very much. He is one of my guitar heroes, and the very first for tone.

  • Wonder what we are into...I love music and arts like you. We are probably more alike than we would like to admit. I knowing you , Thought you might enjoy this, he is great and if you would be willing and wife, meet me out some time and have fun, maybe BB Kings in Nashville. Lets do something fun together. I am a pro Bruce person as is Sarah. You need a chiil moment with the wife, and I am offering. I will get a date..lol, just a fun time. Think about it, we are a family group,

  • He can really put his own tasteful flavor on the blues.

  • i like his tone. This is pure perfection. I also like the jazzy flavor he puts into the song.

  • He can play, he REALLY can.. buti don't like his singing too much at all.. he's cool tho

  • Come on, the guy's wearing a MATADOR jacket.

  • can anyone inform me which album this song from? thanks a lot for the help.

  • @thanemuzika Worried Life Blues is from the 1993 release Mystic Mlie by Robben Ford & The Blue Line.

  • @EvilRoySlad3 thanks a lot, appreciate it.

  • Heard him first time 1975. But everyone talks only about his playin' ! He is also a great singer and knows how to sing and play at the same time! That makes him almost outstanding. No matter if you don't like his style. Has his own style of playin'. Have heard him twicein Stockholm. Breathless both times!

  • "I can't hear no mistakes"???? Did you skip all your grammar classes???

  • Too many drums for a legitimate blues band. : )

I have a friend that would say RF needs to raise his level of negrocity. I would concur. He's all about smooth and well executed. Definitely rock blues for whitey. NO real deal here. Great player with interesting chord substitutions. Bottom line, RF is really/righteously too F'n famous for any of us to be runnin' any of his Sh!T down. But he's clearly no straight up blues idiom style player. IMHO... He's still a smokin' guitarist.

  • @jukeking1 I have a friend that says you are an ignorant racist, that has listens to music with him scotum!

So I guess Robert Johnson isn't blues cause he didn't have enough drums right? Please enlighten us, what it the magic # of drums that turns music into blues??

Your comments are so ill-informed, stop listening to blues, you don't understand it.. and stop commenting on music, it reveals your narrow minded prejudices.

  • @EvilRoySlad3

There was nothing racist about the comment. Some would say RF needs to raise his level of negrocity. No amount of negrocity will ever make you a bluesman, unless it comes from the soul. If negrocity is a facade to hide behind and curry favours from dogmatic blues musicians, the blues would stop having any meaning for me. White blues has always been something of an idiosyncrasy for the puritans. But how can you justify asking SRV to play like muddy waters?

  • @jukeking1

If the term blues were a catechism, the fabled blues would now be dead, privy to the peremptory whims of the conformists, who if anything, are responsible ultimately for the decay and senescence of music. Rigid boundaries only push out diverse music, innovative music into the backdrop. What is the sacrosanct becomes a legend and that becomes a myth. IF you wish to deify the blues and worship it you are hastening its decline and preventing its melioration.

  • "blues for ya now"...mate, if you have to introduce the blues, your doing it wrong

  • @JWBails SRV intro'd plenty of songs in the same way. It's just a phrase, get over it!

@adityaput You should spend less time in a dictionary contriving pseudo intellectual rants! They are obviously beyond your ability to reason cause you fail to recognize your own contradictions. You ARE hug up on color!

You guys should TRY to develop your ears to find out why Robben Ford remains one of the most respected artists in the world, blues, jazz or otherwise!

  • @EvilRoySlad3

I agree I was showing off, obviously, but I still abide by what I said. Just because what I wrote was a wilderness of lyrical platitudes doesn't make it less true. Every artist has his/her "true" style and that the essence of his/her music.

I myself am very fond of Robben Ford and even more fond of Danny Gatton (if you haven't heard him, I suggest you check him out, he's brilliant), but I would never ask Robben ford to try and play what Danny did.

  • @EvilRoySlad3

Where do I contradict myself, I made myself fairly clear I believe, in spite of the "ranting" and I did not delve into the dictionary. It would be nice if we kept the comments less personal and more objective.

Advice to you Mr. Salad, try to be less patronizing the next time you type in a comment.

  • wow.....

  • great solo

  • great playing!

  • The best guitar player ever!!! Good taste, amazing phrases, excellent tone....He the man!!

  • oooooo skills robben, SKILLS!

  • Yeah - Bluueess - I'm ford - great - thx ;-)

  • The best... I performed this song yesterday in a show and it was sweeeeet..

  • can you transcribe the run down in the chorus?

  • Wow, some hilarious comments here, but what else is new? Robben Ford trio "awful blues?" Bwahaha. Guess when Miles took him on tour he figured he needed to include someone awful to round out the act.

  • @baldypel: so what? white middle class people with mortgages can't appreciate good music? you're a loser. Robben Ford is an absolutely amazing blues and jazz player.

  • @wakold I am black and i agree.No discriminating.

  • @wakold I am amiddle class cat with a mortgage and a mini van, and I know this guy rocks, and then some. Shit!

  • I've identified the problem. Not enough strings on the bass.

I like this...big blues fan, and this is good.

    Big Ron

  • good call swamprat. it's good stuff. I saw him live and when he wants he plays ruff, muted tones that are more blues standard sounds.

some of his notes are clean sounding but so are BB's. Very jazzy too. bottom line...It's all good

  • call it what you want...it's jjaamm'nn

  • Have you ever noticed that BB doesn't sing and play at the same time ever!

  • call it what you want...it's jjaamm'nn

  • This is the best song he ever did and i think its a great song!

  • i guess you know everything bout playing the blues then...

  • The best pure playing by Robben and band....simple trio...3 outstanding musicians...C'mon back Blue Line!!!!!

    NONE BETTER.

  • Robben Ford is the best guitar player ever. Amazing taste, tone and phrases..

  • @Bandabluzin the best ever?

  • fat nigger

  • @Siberiandevil1234 who,your mother?

  • most of the americunts including you xaxa

  • One of the best, i think !!

  • In the last solo, he make some mistakes... How can it be? sometimes it happens to Robben, i saw it in a another video.

  • Comment removed

  • You can't hear *ANY* mistakes.

  • @Deadevil7 Thanks

  • @Deadevil7 i actually hear one right around 7:21, but this piece is so amazing it doesnt matter, being a decent improv player like myself, I can't even imagine being able to phrase like robben ford can, i want to know who the fuck left some negative comments on here that got deleted, this is one of the best blues songs I've ever heard in my life, playing, singing, everything.

  • @Dangaard1975 man, it's not even worth mentioning. I caught a tiny little loss of control at the outset, but nothing major. That having been said I don't think I have ever seen a perfect performance from anyone, ever. Some of the world's best are on that list. It was a great performance, better to appreciate the good ;)
