I like your layout I can't wait to see it when it's finished. Please keep me updated. How long did it take to get that far?I wish I had the room money and talent to build me a nice layout.
No. I'm in north Jersey. I was born there, but moved out after 1-1/2yrs. :) My parents grew up in Philly and my Grandfather work for PRR, Penn Central, Conrail... so my Dad wanted to model that area.
All of the tracks are accessible from underneath or from the pop-outs I show in the video. We will use 2 caboose track cleaning devices filled with liquid. I also will use Brite Boy blocks. As long as you use metal wheels , the tracks seem to stay alot cleaner.
I have built layout using both methods. The cardboard is cheap, but that's not why I use it. It's easy and effective. It's strong now, my Dad even commented on how suprised he was at how strong the mesh alone is. Once the plaster soaked towels are on top of it it becomes extreme strong. I also like because with the foam it becomes one large mass of materials you can't access anything. The cardboards is hollow and access is easy.
I really use both methods together in different situations.

this is a brilliant layout, one question though, how are you going to clean the tracks inside the tunnels.

Thanks for the views and rating. I can't wait to start putting plaster on this thing and really see the shapes come alive.
