I'd suggest that if you haven't experienced transcendence in the form of rock n roll, you probably haven't listened to enough yet! Whether or not you equate that experience with God (or a notion of of "God") will come out of your own spiritual leanings, so I won't insist you connect the dots the way I do. Don't underestimate it, though.

This coexist thing is so misunderstood. Bono has been very clear he is a Christian. But he also has been very clear that you respect other people. "Coexist" doesn't necessarily mean all religions are truth or there "are many paths to the top of the mountain."

@valthecatlover read your Bible, dude, and you'll see that son and descendant is the same. Mohammed is descended from Ishmael who was Abraham's son. Jesus, Jew and Mohammed are indeed all sons of Abraham just as Jesus did indeed say "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me."

I was at that concert...twice, actually...as it was used throughout the vertigo tour. A great moment in the show calling the human followers of Christianity, Judaism & Islam to stop killing each other in the name of what we/they claim to have faith in. It certainly was in line with the teaching and lifestyle of Jesus...who was indeed a Jew...a son of Abraham...just like Mohammed.

Believing Jesus is the way, truth & life requires more of Christians than to claim a superior argument.

Mohammed was a descendent of Abraham...that's what Islam teaches.

Jesus claims to be "the way, etc...". I believe that. But believing it isn't about standing on my soapbox and thinking my way is better or more correct (even if I do claim it is THE way). Believing in Jesus is about bringing the love of God into the world. Emptying ourselves and being obedient...even to the point of death. Even death on a cross.

Abraham is the father of modern monotheism. Muslims as wells as Jewish and Christians recognize Abraham as spiritual father.

So the three main montheist religions are historically children of Abraham

The message is clear, why the biggest monotheist religion born from Abraham cannot get along in peace?

But Abraham is a father of Monotheism. And Bono has put in the same show at Paris the Cross of Jésus in evidence ! And in severals songs and interview he say that Jésus is the Savior wo is the Lamb of God who is the only one who forgive forgiveness and make the blid seee. Read as example the texts of the songs "Tomorrow" and "White as snow".

You search the scriptures for you think in THEM you have eternal life....just a slight rebuke to you.....read the story of David and Michal......don't stop these little one's from coming to God....don't call the things of God idolatry....we all have idolatry in our hearts, what is yours?

Every thing that is not of God would be by definition idolatry...which would include plenty of what is in my heart. Thank God for grace.

Eternal life from the scriptures? Only inasmuch as they point to God (which I would suggest is quite a bit).

Quite true...transcendence and idolatry walking side by side, arm in arm. The honest person of faith sees how their feet are planted in both. Thanks!
